Dragon Star - "Crab Rangoon" . Maybe a quarter tablespoon of cream cheese and absolutely no crab wrapped up in a fried wonton. Don't waste your money

Got lunch for takeout from this crummy looking Chinese place in Mundelein. It sure looked like…read morecrap, but it was better than we thought it would be though. Dragon Star has all the usual stuff that's Americanized Chinese. Has big portions, which is a good thing about it. The prices aren't bad especially on the lunch specials. Came in at lunch and placed an order to go. It's one of those places you go in and order at a window, and then sit and wait for it. The atmosphere is pretty lame to be honest, with not much going on. About the worst thing that can be said about it. The best thing is the cheap prices. It's about $10 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the General Tso's Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, and others. For lunch takeout it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins to choose from including tofu for vegetarians.

Had been looking for Chinese after moving from Chicago. I ordered online for pickup and ended up…read morewaiting about 7-10 minutes longer than the expected pickup time. When I walked in, there were some patrons eating a simple rice and noodle dish and there it was front and center, a microwave... and the older lady cook had just put something in there and punched it for a preset 1 minute timer. So that definitely made me ... know this was about to be sad. They do have woks going, but it looks like the main things that touch them is the noodles and rice only so there is SOME hot food Here is my order: 1 Fried Dumplings 1 Peppered Steak 1 Orange Chicken 1 Beef Lo Mein 1 Beef Fried Rice 1 Sweet and Sour soup This is my review of each: 1 Fried Dumplings - 2/5 Soggy, prefried, definitely from the microwave, not firm dumpling wrapper with bad five spice aftertaste. 1 Peppered Steak and Onion - 2/5 absolute ripoff, meager portions of steak, should be called Onion with Some Steak. just taste like the generic beef and broccoli juice flavor, filled to the brim of raw onion, and poorly cooked bell peppers. 1 Orange Chicken - 1/5 Prefried, Sweet, soggy, bad pieces of meat, absolutely sus looking 1 Beef Lo Mein - 4/5 not enough sauce on the noodles, but the noodles were cooked well and were very hot so I suspect that actually touched the Wok 1 Beef Fried Rice - 3/5 (only because of the raw onion) the rice was the oily fried goodness, idk why they put unevenly cut raw onions in this. It ruined it a bit. 1 Sweet and Sour soup 0/5 - absolutely atrocious. Nothing there at all. Money value I give it a 4/5. Would not personally eat inside as it is cramped and not separate from kitchen. Will not return though overall

Yesterday I ordered for the first time food from here , my experience was great…read more Phone order was easy and fast Food was ready in 10 minutes Singapore chow mein fun was generous and delicious with a perfect balance of ingredients Also ordered combination fried rice and was also delicious and good quality Thank you again and I will love to come back Note : I ordered Singapore chow mein fun from another restaurant in barrigton called Chinese palace and was full of oil and they were cheap with the meat , and gave me heartburn that is the reason I drove farther and I'm happy with the food provided

It was my first time visiting. I grew up in Chicago for context. I grew up going to Lees chop suey…read morenear Elston and Fullerton along with maybe two other smaller hole in the wall spots exclusively. It's very hard to find good Chinese food in outside of the city. This is a smaller restaurant. Given it is a small restaurant I think customer service should be a little better. Greeting customers is important. I ordered the combination pan fried noodles, a small wonton soup, shrimp egg rolls and a Diet Coke. They forgot to give me my Diet Coke. I never check but something inside told me and I listened. I went back in. When I got home I got everything I ordered. Flavor wise everything was good. I have watched a lot of master chef mind you. I know about flavorrrr. In terms of the wonton soup I wish the wonton wrap was thinner. The soup and wontons themselves had good chicken broth flavor and I think inside the wontons was pork, very yummy. Shrimp egg rolls were good but I wish I was given sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce like when you go to any other Chinese place. I understand prices are crazy for inventory but giving soy sauce and sweet and sour should be formality and the brand new customer shouldn't be surprised when they get home. Charge an additional dollar per order to give that or something if cost is the problem. RED FLAG! Combination pan fried noodles was a good flavor also. The noodles resemble the crunchy ones in the bag just thinner and they give you more noodles. Yummy, maybe I'll try lo mein next time. I expect soy sauce and sweet & sour to be included plssss. THANK YOU FOR THE YUMMY SUBURB CHINESE FOOD!
