When I walked in, there were some patrons eating a simple rice and noodle dish and there it was front and center, a microwave... and the older lady cook had just put something in there and punched it for a preset 1 minute timer. So that definitely made me ... know this was about to be sad. They do have woks going, but it looks like the main things that touch them is the noodles and rice only so there is SOME hot food Here is my order: 1 Fried Dumplings 1 Peppered Steak 1 Orange Chicken 1 Beef Lo Mein 1 Beef Fried Rice 1 Sweet and Sour soup This is my review of each: 1 Fried Dumplings - 2/5 Soggy, prefried, definitely from the microwave, not firm dumpling wrapper with bad five spice aftertaste. 1 Peppered Steak and Onion - 2/5 absolute ripoff, meager portions of steak, should be called Onion with Some Steak. just taste like the generic beef and broccoli juice flavor, filled to the brim of raw onion, and poorly cooked bell peppers. 1 Orange Chicken - 1/5 Prefried, Sweet, soggy, bad pieces of meat, absolutely sus looking 1 Beef Lo Mein - 4/5 not enough sauce on the noodles, but the noodles were cooked well and were very hot so I suspect that actually touched the Wok 1 Beef Fried Rice - 3/5 (only because of the raw onion) the rice was the oily fried goodness, idk why they put unevenly cut raw onions in this. It ruined it a bit. 1 Sweet and Sour soup 0/5 - absolutely atrocious. Nothing there at all. Money value I give it a 4/5. Would not personally eat inside as it is cramped and not separate from kitchen. Will not return though overall

New China Chef has all the usual stuff, from beef to tofu and whatever. Big portions help make things a good value for what you get. The prices aren't bad especially on lunch specials. Came in and placed an order to go. It's a pretty cramped place, but there's enough room for a few tables for those eating inside. The atmosphere is pretty lame. About the worst thing that can be said about it. There's two humongous menus on the walls. It's about $12 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the Kung Pao Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, corn, and more. For lunch it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins including tofu for vegetarians.

There is a little zing that I can't put my finger on, but my taste buds enjoyed it. Also, I got the pork fried rice, same situation, there was a little twang that tickled my taste buds. The gravy for the egg, foo young was very thick, way too thick for my taste. So I used it sparingly, but it did add a little flavor. For the not too delicious items: the egg drop soup had virtually no taste. It was like hot water with a tinge of lemon. The crunchy noodles that came with it were decent, but without any flavor, it just didn't do it for me. The eggroll, is nothing to write home about. I absolutely love eggrolls! I didn't even finish this one, it really had mild consistency and minimal taste. Will I order from here again? Maybe. But I will stay away from the items that prove to have minimal to no taste.

Nothing was too greasy and I didn't feel inflamed after eating. The food is great quality and the portion sizes and prices are perfect. I am so happy I found this place!!

The chicken is a bit to dry, but the chicken in the fried rice was just right/perfect. I liked how they cooked it with very fresh bean sprouts. But the oily flavor of the generic fried rice gets a bit too much after a while. I think sesame chicken isn't bad but avoid the sauce. Sweet and sour pork has decent flavor initially but the pork is a bit too dried/hard. Definitely would not recommend the yushan chicken... the flavor is too dark for me. Overall, the lunch special gives you a lot of food but it's too pre-formulated and processed to actually enjoy it or want to eat more of it. I think I'll just stick to their menu items instead despite the cheaper price.
