Free arcade games to play!! Stopped by here on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park, and picked Birdcall bc it is native to Colorado. It's a fast casual chicken spot and we tried the 2 sliders combo and kbbq chicken (about $25 overall). I'd say the taste is standard. But the kbbq chicken was subpar since the slaw was most just salty while the chicken didn't have much flavor despite looking very dark/seasoned. The special sauces (original and bbq sauce) on the side do save the meal a bit. Since the sauce was pretty good (and free games) I'd be down to give this place another try when there's a chance. read more

On our way home from a day outing at Estes Park, we stopped for a "quick bite." Well...they have arcade games and our kids were in heaven. Unlimited play as well! We placed our orders and our food was ready fast, yay! The space is clean, plenty of seating, and the bartender was nice and said to ask him if we had any needs. Had a craving for chicken and found this place. Not busy at all. Very clean and inviting. I must have looked confused so the counter person came out and helped me order. I decided to sit at the counter and enjoy my meal. I got the nuggets and water (I was driving so no drinking!) Nice to have the option though. The food came out quickly and it was good. I was in town and looking for a yummy chicken place and this restaurant came up on my feed so I thought I'd give it a go. As soon as I walked in I was wowed by the tasteful design and decor. I fumbled my way through the tablet ordering, the keyboard would come up and I had a hard time getting it down. Once I ordered an employee called my name and gave me a cup and I got the organic coconut soda. It was delicious! Had a very toasted taste in my opinion. As I waited for my order to finish I watched the display with my expected time for pick up which was really neat. The design of having cubbies for the food was a fun one. I ordered the special Korean Chicken Sandwhich, fries and their house sauce. The graphic design of all the paper goods were perfect! When I tried the sandwhich though I was a bit disappointed. The chicken was on the thin side and almost too dry and the Asian slaw was not enough and had no real kick. The fries though were perfect, super crispy and salty! Not being mean just honest as always. The concept may sound great to some our experience hopefully allow them to make some adjustments. Walk in a what looks like a bar area but nothing except for kiosk screens. A few busy people running around in the kitchen with see through slots where the orders get placed. You have to swipe your card to start your order. Menus are there for descriptions but the screens show the product. And I might add the food isn't what is shown in the pictures. I maybe not the most savvy UI guy but I work with software and PCs all day and I went to order a sandwich it prompts if I want to make it a meal "yes" and you select a drink, none of which I wanted but I wanted a side. If you go past that it doesn't add to the cart. I guess it make sense but could prompt to upgrade to an adult shake or something even a bottle of water. I do figure that I can make it a shake. And I get a kids meal. Right away my name pops on the screen above the slots/bays just less than 10 minutes. Within 5 minutes I see a shake in a bay, but it's not identified as mine. The food timer goes to a status of "soon" and I still wait and wait and the shake still sits there. I know for sure the shake sits there for more than 8 minutes, sure seemed longer than 10. The service person was running back and forth helping mobile orders and such. Finally We received our food and I immediately taken back by the small size of my sandwich. Certainly not what was pictured. The size and presentation of the sandwich was disappointing. The shake is pretty melted. The sauce on the sandwich and on the side probably made the difference. The kids meal is perfect with a large portion of fries. No salt packets anywhere btw. But the manager/owner did get some from the back in a small cup. I mean fries need salt I get trying to create a more efficient system this just isn't the one yet. If you make a shake tell the slot where it's ready. Have someone put front and a someone putting orders together and shouldn't be the same person. And btw I don't think it's just me we listed to others as they ordered and at least one other couple said the same things as they ordered. Last thing is the free video game at the end of the room. I walked in for the first time as I have been wanting to try bird call for a while. It's a bit confusing because there is a menu on the wall above the bar but it's not clear what is included for each item. There are even laminated menus on the counter that have no explanation - just pictures. For example, there's a shaved brussel sprout salad. I have no idea what's included on that. I saw the screens to order food but there was no one around to ask questions. What is the bird call sauce? I waited for someone to exit the kitchen and asked. "It's our dipping sauce," was the response. I tried to get the flavor profile which sounded like thousand island dressing. I decided to try the bird-b-q sauce and the buttermilk ranch. Now I'm a saucy gal so sauces are important to me! I did love that you could see how long until your meal was to be served. I received my five-piece chicken tenders and dove in. These were large tenders - I couldn't eat the whole thing and I can put some food away! The chicken was moist but the outside was fried at too high a temp causing the breading to come dangerously close to burning. The oil may have been too old as well. Now, I am a Southern girl rating fried chicken so I'm a bit picky about it. As for the sauces, I was underwhelmed. I was so sad that the buttermilk ranch didn't have much flavor. The bird-b-q was ok but a little too sweet for me. And the sauces came in tiny containers. If I had wanted to eat all five tenders, I would have needed a couple more sauces. All-in-all, it was ok but I don't feel the need to return. I didn't even take my uneaten tenders home. Just not that good. read more

We had a great time at Birdcall. We sat at the bar, per our usual, and watched this petty efficient eatery tackle orders, take care of customers and strike up friendly conversation with us. The place was decently busy for a holiday weekday, spotless and welcoming. Bright colors, clever signage and happy servers. You can place your order at one of the many ordering stations at the counter, but we choose to go old school and connected with the manager to place our order. Def add a house margarita, if this is your thing. This margarita is, by far, one of my favorite margaritas in Denver. We enjoyed our burger + tots as well - he had the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and I opted for the Deluxe. Both were tasty, well proportioned, cooked well and the bun was amazing. Great sandwich. And, as we waited, we laughed at ChiveTV that was playing - hillarious, mindless entertainment. Best part of our trip to Birdcall is debatable, but if you ask me, it was the manager remembering that I originally wanted to Spicy Marg but ended up with the House. She offered one to go, complimentary - which of course, just spurred us to order two house margs to go as well. It was my man's born day and this was an unexpected treat. Called a sandwich shop, but seems much more like a burger / fast food joint. The menu is mostly chicken patties on burger buns, with fries, tater tots, coleslaw, etc as sides. I tried the chicken Caesar- a grilled chicken patty on a bun with lettuce, tomato, caesar dressing and a crunchy parmesan "chip". The fries are good and taste very similar to McDonald's. The sauces were very sweet. It's kind of confusing on how to order but there was someone who immediately came up and helped us. I would probably come back here! read more

While I enjoy very hot food and consider most things billed as "extra hot" to be a sham, I found this sandwich to actually have a kick of heat. Nice. Fries are thin and crispy. I am sad to say that this Boulder location for Birdcall does not work very well for me. It is clearly meant as a dine in location with a broad base for drinks and socializing. If I just need a takeout or delivery serve of Birdcall's nice food menu, I prefer to use the other location in Boulder. The product is always, fresher, better cooked and packaged. My most recent experience with this location was actually an accident. The app for ordering keeps defaulting to this location and if you dot not pay close attention when ordering you will not get the correct location preparing the food. The App could be better laid out to make this easy. This time the sandwiches arrived (via the same delivery service either location) made with rolls that were clearly not fresh from the start, the meat overcooked and the greens and sauce very skimpy. Not at all like my most recent experience with the other location. Like night and day. My fault for the error and I will check more carefully in the future because for people in my situation, unable to drive and order in person sometimes, we need to be able to count on getting the good meal Birdcall is known for and easily available a short distance across town. If you need delivery or takeout, be absolutely sure you are ordering from the Pearl St location (inside the Whole Foods) to get the very best Birdcall has to offer in Boulder. read more

I was impressed with Birdcall! The concept is great and service is fast and friendly. We ordered the hot chicken sandwiches, which I believe is supposed to be a riff on a Nashville hot sandwich. If it is supposed to be that, I think it fell a little flat due to the spice level. However, if it's just supposed to be a spicy chicken sandwich, it's excellent. Let me start off by saying the atmosphere of this place is fantastic. A very comfortable, cozy, neat spot to share a meal. We tried the Southern Sandwich with the Tater Tots and a drink. I love that they have a bar, and their soda options were both unique and very tasty. The chicken sandwich was yummy, the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. The tater tots had an awesome seasoning on them and the perfect texture. The staff was awesome, and the setup for ordering and receiving your food was very easy. My first visit to Birdcall and it is nice to be able to sit outside, have a delicious and spicy chicken sandwich and get a margarita. The Nashville hot sandwich is spicy and tasty. The chicken was hot and juicy. Tater tots are a favorite food of mine and this was my disappointment. They had a nice seasoning and had they been hot, I think they would have been a treat. They weren't even warm. I should have said something but I didn't. The margarita was good while I found my husband's lemonade a bit lacking, a little watery or not flavorful enough. I'm not sure how to rate this shop. I mean, it's fried chicken sandwiches. How can you go wrong with that? I like that they are here. I know of this chain from Arizona. The food is quite tasty but the price is a little high for what you get, in my opinion. Service is mostly through kiosks, so if you like that, you're in luck. There's also at least one person behind the counter to help if needed. The humans that I have interacted with were great at customer service. They have a well lit and clean interior, but I always get carry out. Probably because I don't want anyone else to have to see how many napkins I need to eat one sandwich.
