We love happy hour at Bird! A few weeks ago we stumbled upon this fantastic spot right in time for happy hour. It was a sunny day so everyone was eating on the patio and we had the entire dining room to ourself (on a Saturday none the less). We tried the slider trio and pretzel bites on our first visit and kept taking about those delicious little sandwiches for a week later. A couple of weeks went by and we were back in Denver and thought...we should absolutely swing by for happy hour again. They are situated right across the street from Tokyo Premium Bakery, so after grabbing parking (which you can get for free on the street in the afternoon or there is a parking garage nearby) we grabbed a baked snack and walked across the street to enjoy happy hour once more! The dining room was again very open around 3pm on a Saturday, but this time filled up quickly while we ate. We tried the Springtime Fashion and Lychee Paloma which were off the seasonal drink menu, with the sliders (one for each of us this time) and the bird bowl. You can get the bird bowl with either regular or Nashville hot chicken. We opted for the Nashville hot, which my husband loved but was a bit too spicy for me (I can't handle hardly any spice, but it was still delicious). We seriously love this place and look forward to coming back when we are in the area. We for sure need to try the brunch, lunch, and dinner menus but when the food off the happy hour menu is this good it's so hard to keep getting the same thing! read more

My husband went to Pearl Street for their amazing farmer market and decided we should come back to check out the restaurants. We didn't expect to end up at Bird but it was a surprise delight! We sat at the bar. The food was flavorful and the bar tender, Peter was attentive and personable. I highly recommend trying a cocktail. The Pearl Street Flower was refreshing - a perfect drink for a summer night. Also, I got the chicken sandwich and truffle fries both delicious but would have to say the fries were a bit too salty. My husband got the burger with regular fries and we split a half order of Brussels sprouts which had a unique flavor. We will be back to try the brunch! read more

Sooo... never in our 8+ years of dining as a family has *everyone* been happy and full at the end of a meal. Until Bird. We were strolling down the street checking out the farmer's market, freezing our Arizona behinds off, when all of a sudden we all realized we were starving. I had seen Bird as we walked by and it piqued my interest. A quick glance at the menu told me they had food my kids would eat, so in we went. The seating had me a little concerned. They were slammed and we waited 3-4 minutes to be greeted. That's not a long time - but it is when there are 8 to 10 people who have all walked in at once, it is snowing outside, and everyone is basically now standing on top of folks who are trying to eat their own meals. However, once we were seated, the clouds parted and heaven shown down. The waitress came quickly and took all of our drink orders. The drinks were back in a flash. She also put in my kids' orders - which also came out in a flash. I had a Pretty in Pink and LET ME TELL YOU...!!! My husband is always trying the eggs benny everywhere we go, and everywhere he is disappointed. That day? NOPE! Loved it! Ate every bite! Their tomato soup was hot, a touch spicy, and just what was needed on a cold October day. The boy spawn ate all of his eggs, a good portion of his bacon, and really enjoyed his toast... And our little girl got the pancakes with berries. They came out looking like that famous mouse and she was SO HAPPY! We kept saying, "1,000 out of 10!" "This is so good!" " I wish we lived near here!" All of this is just to say... thank you to our amazing waitress, her super lightning fast runner, the great bartender, and a rock star chef (or entire kitchen full of elves)? We had been to Bird for brunch a few years ago and had a good experience...so I made reservations for 6 of us for dinner last Saturday evening while in town visiting from Boston. The experience was so incredibly sub-par... for the first time ever...I'm leaving a Yelp review. There is zero ambiance (no candles on the table, no dimmed lighting...etc.) and we were literally the ONLY people/table in the entire restaurant on a Saturday evening during ski season...which should have immediately told us something and we should have bailed. But more importantly ... the abominable food and drink experience. The food was so mediocre that I hardly touched my soup or dinner...but TWO of our party ended up vomiting that evening...with no further follow up flu or illness. Our belief is it was a result of the dinner consumed at Bird. The bartender made a cosmopolitan that was unrecognizable...it was bright red like a fruit punch...never seen anything like it??? The Cosmo was so bad that we sent them back and ordered something different. While the waitress was lovely and attentive...the bill was over $300 without tip. It was perhaps the worst dinner experience of our family's life...truly. Bird should NOT take dinner reservations. It was lovely for brunch but absolutely a complete disaster and rip off for dinner with no vibe, liveliness or ambiance. There are plenty of other great options for dinner on Pearl Street...I'd recommend checking those out. read more

I have been to this establishment multiple times and have enjoyed every visit. My bestie and I decided to make this our meet in between after work on a week day. Big mistake!! There were 3 individuals sitting at the bar who were over the top loud and obnoxious. Talking loudly and graphically about their sexual experiences. Needless to say-i didn't need to hear the very detailed accounts of these incidents and it's too R rated to post here what I heard. It was very apparent they were off the clock employees getting drunk as other currently working employees were coming by chatting with them. There were two females and one male. They went behind the bar a few times. My friend and I were on the opposite end of the bar and could barely keep a conversation between the two of us as this groups conversation took over the interior bar. There was another couple a few chairs down the bar and we made eye contact and commented to one another how tacky and rude this group was. They ate quickly and left. I get that this is a slow night-and if you want to keep patrons coming back on any given day-train your employees on professional behavior no matter if they are on the clock. We found this restaurant in the Denver Dining Out Passbook and thought we would give it a try. It's located in an area with lots of other businesses. There's a parking garage just across the street, but we were able to find 2-hr street parking right when we got there. We were helped right away when we came in and service was great throughout the meal. The restaurant space was airy and comfortable with an industrial vibe. To start, my husband got the chai whiskey drink which was delicious. For an appetizer, we got the brussel sprouts. We liked them overall, but didn't think the flavors really blended together (instead of one new complex flavor, we could just taste the individual items in the dish). For dinner my husband got the meatloaf and I got the chicken and waffles. Both dishes were delicious, with large main portions and sides. My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and wanted to try something new. We've exhausted the main street Littleton restaurants and headed up Broadway to see what we could find. I remembered Pearl Street was a cute few blocks of restaurants and shops so we headed that way. We started at Iowa and Pearl and headed north. We saw Sexy Pizza, but had pizza the night before. Then a few buildings farther, we saw a sign that said, "Bird". While we guessed what that might signify we noticed the subtitle "American Comfort Food". We were hooked. The night was perfect weather for outside dining so we picked a table on the cozy front patio. When our server, Joshua, took our order my wife got a salad with pan-roasted shrimp. I ordered the Angus burger. It came on a bun that tasted like it was just baked that afternoon. Both of us cleaned our plates. It's not that we were starving, it was because the food was just that good. If you're looking for great food and an intimate environment, head over to Bird. We came here for a girls night out dinner, and I loved it! Comfort food is not always a Denver staple, but this spot is doing it right. Delicious & cozy, with a touch of style & trendy-ness. I'm surprised Bird doesn't have closer to 5 stars. We were here for dinner and everything we ordered was delicious. We had the shrimp pasta, harvest bowl and turkey shepherd's pie to share. The shepherd's pie is not traditional, coming from a Brit (I'd say more like a pot pie), but very tasty. We sat on the patio and the ambience was great. Such a great location and today had plenty of DU grads and their families. The staff were very accommodating, but it took awhile to get service. Not sure of the problem since there seemed to be enough servers. They apologized for the delay and since we were sitting outside enjoying the day before it rained, we did not care. I ordered a drink and honest to god the sweet waitress was tipping the glass and I was panicking seeing my drink spilling out of the glass. I ordered the strawberry salad with chicken and it was fine. Nothing special and chicken was a little dry. 2 friends ordered entrees with poached eggs. Both of them got one hard boiled egg and the other was super runny. The last entree was a fried chicken sandwich with fries. Although promised ranch, it never arrived. We were in search of grilled cheese and tomato soup, and initially tried Soup Etc. down the street but they were out of soup (!!) Through some quick searching, Bird to the rescue! The soup was way better than anticipated. It was thick and creamy and I would totally eat it on its own which I never say about tomato soup. I went to brunch with my Mom this past Sunday using the Denver Dining Book and glad that I choose to check this place out. A quaint location on South Pearl Street with a great neighborhood vibe, that served brunch all day. They have a full bar to get your favorite brunch boozie concoctions (which unfortunately I could not partake in). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We did have to wait like 10 mins to get our table set, but they will text you when your table is ready so you can check out a couple of the cute stores nearby while you wait. Like people said the food comes a little slow, but it is hand crafted and delicious so worth the wait. My Mom got the quiche of the day with the side greens, and she ordered the potatoes au gratin side. I had the stuffed poblano pepper substituted chorizo (instead of the ham). This dish is great if you are on Keto which I am. I loved the melty brie that went well with the egg stuffing, the greens were a nice addition (but I should have said no onions), and loved that they offered both green and red chili to me as they both went well with the dish. I definitely left the restaurant full and satisfied. I didn't get hash browns, but if you are able to eat them the serving size was hardy and not stingy at all. My Mom was a little sad when we found out that they were out of crab cakes to make the crab cake benedict (this was around 12:30PM so this was a disappointment). Bird is in a great location on South Pearl. It touts "American comfort food with a twist", but the quality of the food has diminished and I am not sure what happened to the 'twist' to its once delicious food. I would go here after the Farmers Markets in the summer but on my last visit the food needed more attention from the backend staff. Let's start with the good. The hostess was very friendly, but a little flustered when we walked in. She was also busy bussing tables. A sign on the window clearly indicates they are looking for staff, so she was pulling double duty. The waitress was as attentive. When we sat down in this cozy restaurant many of the tables were empty but they all quickly filled-up and her attention quickly changed from being attentive to keeping up. The food was a major let down and I am hoping this was just an off day. I ordered the Traditional Benny. The English muffin was not toasted or buttered. I am not 100% sure, but I am guessing the English muffin was the type you'd get at your grocery store (not the end of the world, but it did lack flavor). One of the poached eggs was overcooked and the second was undercooked. The hollandaise sauce was absent of the flavors you'd normally get with a good hollandaise. The lemon and butter flavor were void from this French classic. The salad was typical, but it was overdressed. Otherwise it was decent. I am still giving Bird three stars and hope the attention to the food changes. I will try again and will update the review. read more

I met a friend here, it's a great little restaurant along Pearl st. It was cute and kind of quiet, there were people on the patio drinking mimosas and enjoying the sunshine. I had Manhattan that Was pretty good, they have quite a great variety of drinks from light cocktails to Harter. I have the turkey club my friend has a black being they were both good, nothing particularly outstanding for me but a solid turkey club and a nice salad with beautiful greens. I wasn't overly impressed with this place, but it's worth trying again I think because there is a lot of things on the menu I would be interested in trying. read more

Pearl Street set the vibe before you walk in to this great setting, and the friendly staff find just the right spot to enjoy Happy Hour (our server was Trinity; she was great in every way)! I came here with a running Meetup group after a morning run (a walk-jog for me). It was my first time here. Apparently they hold a farmer's market on this restaurant's street on Saturday mornings so parking is a bit difficult to find. I ordered the fried chicken with sage gravy on a biscuit. What a little Gem of a restaurant! Nestled in the south pearl neighborhood along rows of boutique shops. Parking wasn't hard to locate midday. Entrance has a ramp leading up to the patio dining area and entrance. We were offered indoor or outdoor options. All of the staff were very professional and took measures to thoroughly clean surfaces before offering us a table. Staff maintained social distancing practices. Our table was in direct line of the kitchen so we got to watch the staff work. Their staff work very well together and keep the line running smoothly. I was impressed with how much attention to detail each of the kitchen staff put into the preparation. We got the Sage chicken sandwich and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich with salad for the side. The greens were incredibly fresh and the ranch dressing was drizzled on top in a perfect portion. We were tempted to ask for more ranch but decided to eat it as prepared. More ranch would have thrown the salad off balance and distracted from the fresh flavor of the field greens. The chicken sandwiches were perfect. Built, hand crafted, balanced, certified fresh. The Nashville Hot style chicken sandwich had a great crispiness on the breading of the chicken and the spiced oil it's tossed in was just right; not too greasy and not overwhelmingly spicy. The buns they are served on are rich and buttery. I noted that the bun had absorbed a bit of the Nashville Hot seasoning and it only made it that much better. The pickles, greens, and finishing sauce perfectly complement the sandwich. It was filling. The Sage Chicken sandwich was light, with a hint of sage. Excellent flavor profile; and again with that crispiness breading and the great balance of tasty pickle, greens, and finishing sauce. If you don't care of spicy and are looking for a chicken sandwich thats not heavy, this is the one. I sat down with the owner, Devin, and asked him one simple question; What makes this place special? We had a great conversation about his view on the subject. He said fresh ingredients, attention to detail in preparation, and blending simple ingredients and interesting flavor profiles with local favorites were what he felt made it special. He mentioned how restaurants should make food that meets the needs of community and how important it is to listen to customers for feedback on everything from the ingredients they use to the dishes they make. He also talked about creating a neighborly atmosphere that feels like home (It does!). We got onto the topic of the freshness of the food and where he sourced it from. He expressed to me the importance of buying locally sourced products like the field greens we ate earlier among other ingredients. I also noted a great selection of local beers. I could tell how invested he was in the way things ran and how everything was presented. From the cozy bar, the interior design, his staff, and the way the food was prepared. About as invested as one could be, starting out as a staff member of the restaurant and eventually purchasing it! It definitely gave me a sense of being well run, intentionally collected, and was representative of how small businesses really tie communities together. The duck, pork chops and Brussels sprouts were very good. The blueberry compote was extremely sour and acidic which I liked but the dish could use more sweetness. The hot toddy was nice. The old fashion was good. The meatloaf and shrimp poboy were mediocre. The menu items and naming implies southern and comfort food but none of the food actually tasted southern. Giving this place a 5/5 cuz the food, drinks and service were good but I won't visit this restaurant again because there are plenty of better options in Denver. read more

I came on a Saturday afternoon and called ahead by about 50 minutes to make sure I could get a table. We got a table outside, and it was a little too sunny, so we asked the waitress if we could scooch over to the table next to ours and she said that was fine. I ordered an iced chai latte, the fried chicken benny, and a waffle with strawberries. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs. I will say, it wasn't my favorite chai, but I really loved my eggs benedict. The biscuits were slightly sweet, and the crispy-savoriness of the chicken tasted great with that. My boyfriend loved his meal as well, and said he really liked the quality of his steak. The waffle was pretty underwhelming for being 8 bucks, and an extra $1.50 to add the strawberry, which was just 8 very thin wedges of strawberry slices. I wanted something sweet, so that's why I ordered the waffle, but probably would pass next time. I want to mention though a downside of sitting outside -- which is through no fault of the restaurant and didn't affect the stars I gave them at all! But there was a gust of wind towards the end of the meal, which picked up all of the dust and rubble from the street and the plants out front. All of that gunk flew right into our food and drinks. Normally, I won't feel guilty if a speck or two gets into there. Not a big deal. But it picked up quite a load of dirt and dust, that it got EVERYWHERE! Luckily we were pretty much done with our meal, so it wasn't a big deal. Again, doesn't affect the way I feel about Bird, just a thing to keep in mind if you're planning to eat there on a windy day!! read more

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and took a seat outside where there wasn't much shade at all, and no one even offered to split the tables and throw an umbrella up but when a larger party came for the large round table it seemed like they were VIP. I felt like we were forgotten about much of the time. I probably would have had more to drink if she had asked if I wanted bottomless when I ordered my $7 mimosa. But again, the large table was offered bottomless (By the same waitress). The food was ok. Nothing that really stood out to me and I feel like the table had a decent variety of food: the breakfast sandwich with fruit on the side, steak and eggs, and a breakfast burrito. We came mostly for the convenience of the location for one of my friends who had been struggling to get moving who lives in the neighborhood, but would probably try somewhere else on the same street next time. read more
