The shepherd's pie is not traditional, coming from a Brit (I'd say more like a pot pie), but very tasty. We sat on the patio and the ambience was great. OMG this place was amazing!!! We had the roasted chicken and it along with the broccoli was cooked so perfectly. Everyone was so nice and the vibe was so wonderful inside! My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and wanted to try something new. We've exhausted the main street Littleton restaurants and headed up Broadway to see what we could find. I remembered Pearl Street was a cute few blocks of restaurants and shops so we headed that way. We started at Iowa and Pearl and headed north. We saw Sexy Pizza, but had pizza the night before. Then a few buildings farther, we saw a sign that said, "Bird". While we guessed what that might signify we noticed the subtitle "American Comfort Food". We were hooked. The night was perfect weather for outside dining so we picked a table on the cozy front patio. When our server, Joshua, took our order my wife got a salad with pan-roasted shrimp. I ordered the Angus burger. It came on a bun that tasted like it was just baked that afternoon. Both of us cleaned our plates. It's not that we were starving, it was because the food was just that good. If you're looking for great food and an intimate environment, head over to Bird. Such a great location and today had plenty of DU grads and their families. The staff were very accommodating, but it took awhile to get service. Not sure of the problem since there seemed to be enough servers. They apologized for the delay and since we were sitting outside enjoying the day before it rained, we did not care. I ordered a drink and honest to god the sweet waitress was tipping the glass and I was panicking seeing my drink spilling out of the glass. I ordered the strawberry salad with chicken and it was fine. Nothing special and chicken was a little dry. 2 friends ordered entrees with poached eggs. Both of them got one hard boiled egg and the other was super runny. The last entree was a fried chicken sandwich with fries. Although promised ranch, it never arrived. Great spot to grab brunch! There was plenty of parking and the service was great. We didn't have to wait long for a table either. I got the Chicken and Waffles and didn't regret it. We were in search of grilled cheese and tomato soup, and initially tried Soup Etc. down the street but they were out of soup (!!) Through some quick searching, Bird to the rescue! The soup was way better than anticipated. It was thick and creamy and I would totally eat it on its own which I never say about tomato soup. I went to brunch with my Mom this past Sunday using the Denver Dining Book and glad that I choose to check this place out. A quaint location on South Pearl Street with a great neighborhood vibe, that served brunch all day. They have a full bar to get your favorite brunch boozie concoctions (which unfortunately I could not partake in). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We did have to wait like 10 mins to get our table set, but they will text you when your table is ready so you can check out a couple of the cute stores nearby while you wait. Like people said the food comes a little slow, but it is hand crafted and delicious so worth the wait. My Mom got the quiche of the day with the side greens, and she ordered the potatoes au gratin side. I had the stuffed poblano pepper substituted chorizo (instead of the ham). This dish is great if you are on Keto which I am. I loved the melty brie that went well with the egg stuffing, the greens were a nice addition (but I should have said no onions), and loved that they offered both green and red chili to me as they both went well with the dish. I definitely left the restaurant full and satisfied. I didn't get hash browns, but if you are able to eat them the serving size was hardy and not stingy at all. My Mom was a little sad when we found out that they were out of crab cakes to make the crab cake benedict (this was around 12:30PM so this was a disappointment). I came here with a running Meetup group after a morning run (a walk-jog for me). It was my first time here. Apparently they hold a farmer's market on this restaurant's street on Saturday mornings so parking is a bit difficult to find. I ordered the fried chicken with sage gravy on a biscuit. Bird is in a great location on South Pearl. It touts "American comfort food with a twist", but the quality of the food has diminished and I am not sure what happened to the 'twist' to its once delicious food. I would go here after the Farmers Markets in the summer but on my last visit the food needed more attention from the backend staff. Let's start with the good. The hostess was very friendly, but a little flustered when we walked in. She was also busy bussing tables. A sign on the window clearly indicates they are looking for staff, so she was pulling double duty. The waitress was as attentive. When we sat down in this cozy restaurant many of the tables were empty but they all quickly filled-up and her attention quickly changed from being attentive to keeping up. The food was a major let down and I am hoping this was just an off day. I ordered the Traditional Benny. The English muffin was not toasted or buttered. I am not 100% sure, but I am guessing the English muffin was the type you'd get at your grocery store (not the end of the world, but it did lack flavor). One of the poached eggs was overcooked and the second was undercooked. The hollandaise sauce was absent of the flavors you'd normally get with a good hollandaise. The lemon and butter flavor were void from this French classic. The salad was typical, but it was overdressed. Otherwise it was decent. I am still giving Bird three stars and hope the attention to the food changes. I will try again and will update the review. read more

I met a friend here, it's a great little restaurant along Pearl st. It was cute and kind of quiet, there were people on the patio drinking mimosas and enjoying the sunshine. I had Manhattan that Was pretty good, they have quite a great variety of drinks from light cocktails to Harter. I have the turkey club my friend has a black being they were both good, nothing particularly outstanding for me but a solid turkey club and a nice salad with beautiful greens. I wasn't overly impressed with this place, but it's worth trying again I think because there is a lot of things on the menu I would be interested in trying. read more

What a little Gem of a restaurant! Nestled in the south pearl neighborhood along rows of boutique shops. Parking wasn't hard to locate midday. Entrance has a ramp leading up to the patio dining area and entrance. We were offered indoor or outdoor options. All of the staff were very professional and took measures to thoroughly clean surfaces before offering us a table. Staff maintained social distancing practices. Our table was in direct line of the kitchen so we got to watch the staff work. Their staff work very well together and keep the line running smoothly. I was impressed with how much attention to detail each of the kitchen staff put into the preparation. We got the Sage chicken sandwich and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich with salad for the side. The greens were incredibly fresh and the ranch dressing was drizzled on top in a perfect portion. We were tempted to ask for more ranch but decided to eat it as prepared. More ranch would have thrown the salad off balance and distracted from the fresh flavor of the field greens. The chicken sandwiches were perfect. Built, hand crafted, balanced, certified fresh. The Nashville Hot style chicken sandwich had a great crispiness on the breading of the chicken and the spiced oil it's tossed in was just right; not too greasy and not overwhelmingly spicy. The buns they are served on are rich and buttery. I noted that the bun had absorbed a bit of the Nashville Hot seasoning and it only made it that much better. The pickles, greens, and finishing sauce perfectly complement the sandwich. It was filling. The Sage Chicken sandwich was light, with a hint of sage. Excellent flavor profile; and again with that crispiness breading and the great balance of tasty pickle, greens, and finishing sauce. If you don't care of spicy and are looking for a chicken sandwich thats not heavy, this is the one. I sat down with the owner, Devin, and asked him one simple question; What makes this place special? We had a great conversation about his view on the subject. He said fresh ingredients, attention to detail in preparation, and blending simple ingredients and interesting flavor profiles with local favorites were what he felt made it special. He mentioned how restaurants should make food that meets the needs of community and how important it is to listen to customers for feedback on everything from the ingredients they use to the dishes they make. He also talked about creating a neighborly atmosphere that feels like home (It does!). We got onto the topic of the freshness of the food and where he sourced it from. He expressed to me the importance of buying locally sourced products like the field greens we ate earlier among other ingredients. I also noted a great selection of local beers. I could tell how invested he was in the way things ran and how everything was presented. From the cozy bar, the interior design, his staff, and the way the food was prepared. About as invested as one could be, starting out as a staff member of the restaurant and eventually purchasing it! It definitely gave me a sense of being well run, intentionally collected, and was representative of how small businesses really tie communities together. The duck, pork chops and Brussels sprouts were very good. The blueberry compote was extremely sour and acidic which I liked but the dish could use more sweetness. The hot toddy was nice. The old fashion was good. The meatloaf and shrimp poboy were mediocre. The menu items and naming implies southern and comfort food but none of the food actually tasted southern. Wowwee I so loved this place. tl;dr -- Loved it all! Food was great, atmosphere was great, service was great! Atmosphere was probably my favorite part - Sitting on the patio, great food, great weather, great music. Prices were decent, though, I wouldn't spend 8 bucks on the waffle again. --- Obviously they're flooded with great reviews, so I chose this place based off of that, and because it was beautiful weather outside and I wanted to sit on a patio for lunch. I came on a Saturday afternoon and called ahead by about 50 minutes to make sure I could get a table. We got a table outside, and it was a little too sunny, so we asked the waitress if we could scooch over to the table next to ours and she said that was fine. I ordered an iced chai latte, the fried chicken benny, and a waffle with strawberries. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs. I will say, it wasn't my favorite chai, but I really loved my eggs benedict. The biscuits were slightly sweet, and the crispy-savoriness of the chicken tasted great with that. My boyfriend loved his meal as well, and said he really liked the quality of his steak. The waffle was pretty underwhelming for being 8 bucks, and an extra $1.50 to add the strawberry, which was just 8 very thin wedges of strawberry slices. I wanted something sweet, so that's why I ordered the waffle, but probably would pass next time. I want to mention though a downside of sitting outside -- which is through no fault of the restaurant and didn't affect the stars I gave them at all! But there was a gust of wind towards the end of the meal, which picked up all of the dust and rubble from the street and the plants out front. All of that gunk flew right into our food and drinks. Normally, I won't feel guilty if a speck or two gets into there. Not a big deal. But it picked up quite a load of dirt and dust, that it got EVERYWHERE! Luckily we were pretty much done with our meal, so it wasn't a big deal. I felt like we were forgotten about much of the time. I probably would have had more to drink if she had asked if I wanted bottomless when I ordered my $7 mimosa. But again, the large table was offered bottomless (By the same waitress). The food was ok. Nothing that really stood out to me and I feel like the table had a decent variety of food: the breakfast sandwich with fruit on the side, steak and eggs, and a breakfast burrito. We came mostly for the convenience of the location for one of my friends who had been struggling to get moving who lives in the neighborhood, but would probably try somewhere else on the same street next time. read more

We love this place for the most part. The Brussels are the best around!! They had a carrot soup that was also amazing. Today, however, I ordered the turkey club. It looked so amazing when it arrived. Only to find it had nasty rotten avocado. Not only was the avocado not even green, but brown.... It was so bad it wasn't even in slices anymore but a mush across the bread. Had to leave with our food in boxes since we didn't have time to eat after they remade it. Came back to add it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't get it again. The food and service are always disappointing. It's a lot of unfulfilled expectations -- looks cool, fun menu, nice servers... But then reality hits. The food is slow or mixed up. The servers are no where to be found. They don't know the nuances of the menu. The food is mediocre -- most of which appears to come from frozen mass production. (The same owner as Uno Mas a couple doors down, yet their guacamole on the eggs Benny is flavorless and surely comes from a bag.) The price, location, and ambiance make me think it's worth another try... alas I'm repeatedly disappointed. I won't be back again, I say! Fingers crossed.
