Absolutely absurd, we arrive and the cabin is dirty and not as it seems in the pictures and when getting our bands for the attractions for A party of 22 the office lady doesn't believe that we have that many people and refuses to give us what we paid for, calls my aunt a bitch and assaults my dad Slapping his arm. according to other members of our party she seemed drunk or hung over and in the end the cops were called and we were kicked out for no reason at all without any mention of a refund. our party is Mexican and I don't doubt that this was an act of racism at its finest. Not the best of choices, they say romantic getaway but I found that not to be the case, wish I could give this 5 stars but it's not even close. Has a nice staff and all plus some activities on site. Cabin interior is a little dated, looks a bit older than it should. The Tv gets a few channels. The a/c is a wall unit that works well. You also do have to clean up after yourself, no housekeeping daily. Smells a little too strong of whatever the smell is? Pine or something I am not sure? The whirlpool is kinda tiny, not that big at all. Oh the hot water goes FAST. Like try not to depend on that cause its gone like the wind. Overall this wasn't something I would say is a strong value, I hoped for more here but it is just a dated cabin in the woods, not too much to boast about here. read more

This resort is only a four minute drive from downtown Wisconsin Dells. All restaurants will deliver to your cabin. Cabins are nice. Resort had an outdoor pool, private 3/4 mile trail that leads to a private beach along the river. Basketball court, volleyball court, and even a tennis court. Welcome center has numerous DVD's to borrow and board games. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Can't say enough for Wendy. She went above and beyond for us. She is the resort manager and works very hard. Overall a great experience. So much to do at Wisconsin dells and glad we chose Birchcliff resorts. read more

Went for Memorial Day Weekend 2017 (4 nights stay) with family (7 adults, 2 kids). We stayed in Cabin 31 (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms -- one with shower, one with bathtub.) Beds: Pull out couch in living room (2 people) Bedroom 1 had two double beds Bedroom 2 has one queen bed Bedroom 3 (2nd floor loft) has two queen beds and two single beds for kids. Amenities: 3 bedroom 2 bathroom (one with shower, one with tub) kitchen with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, pots/pans, plates, utensils dining area with long table and seating for 10-12 people living room with the pull out couch and TV (no cable, no wifi, just DVD player) **Wifi available in the outdoor area by the pingpong tables. Shared amenities: + resident goats that kids can feed (buy feed from office) + playground + tennis court + basketball court + pool + ping pong table + several campfire areas (seats and fire pits already set up for you) + 3/4 of a mile hiking trail to the beach (Warning: Hiking trail is easy. It is the last few yard to the beach that is a bit tricky because you need to climb down through steep rocks with only tree branches to hold on to. Be careful!) + beautiful beach! Pluses of staying here: + Far enough from the bustle of the downtown Dells but + Close enough to the bustle of downtown Dells (about a 3 minute drive to downtown Dells) + Very peaceful! I sat on the pool and outdoor benches while reading a book. All you could hear was the rustling of the leaves when the wind blows. So serene. + Friendly staff. Brian and his staff are super nice. Easy communication from booking the place to arrival. Brian and staff can be seen walking the grounds throughout our stay. If you have a question, just come on by and ask them. Needs improvement: + Wish there was a laundry area in the resort vs driving down the road if you have to wash clothes. + Invest in blinds/curtains for bedrooms. The sun shines through the old/dilapidated blinds in the morning that one can't help but wake up super early along with the sun. + 2nd floor bathroom in Cabin 31 is a bit weird with its carpet flooring vs tiles that we're used to Note: + If you like glamping (of which I am a fan), this is the place for you. Clean cabin, clean bathrooms, clean pool, clean grounds, etc. + If you are expecting Hyatt/Renaissance/Omni Hotel accommodations, you may want to dial that down a bit. You clean up after yourself, you throw out your own garbage, and some parts of the cabin are old (windows for example). Nevertheless, the resort is clean and staff are friendly. + If you stay here, quiet time start at 10PM. Please be mindful of your neighbors. We've had no problems with other guests but the two nights we stayed here, we could hear the music from another cabin. (More power to them for partying! I wanted to join them, too! Sounded like a fun group. However, there are other families in other cabins with kids so be careful of your noise level.) We stayed in cabin #1 for a couple of nights over my children's spring break. The cabin's interior looks fairly new and the layout was nice for spending time together. Upstairs was the kitchen, dining area, bathroom w/ shower and living room/sitting area. Downstairs was two bedrooms with two full size beds in each and a bathroom with a shower as well. The lower level does have a walk out. The kitchen was equipped with dishes, pots & pans, glasses, etc. The bathrooms were equipped with towels, wash rags and bars of soap only (no shower gel or shampoo). The grounds were nice. They have a nice basketball court and this is where my boys spent most of their time. There's also a play set, horseshoe pit, ping pong table, volleyball net, etc. We enjoyed as a family a walk through the nature area down to the Wisconsin River which was around 3/4 mile. The only cons of our stay was that the TV in the cabin was very outdated and only got two channels. Fox and one other channel that both featured mostly court tv. The other con was the lack of lighting around the grounds at night. You have to be very careful when driving or walking through the grounds not to get hit by another vehicle. Lastly, we received Chula Vista Waterpark tickets as part of our stay and enjoyed that very much. Due note though that Chula Vista will not provide you with towels if your not an overnight guest of their hotel. You will need to bring your own towels with you. Overall, it was a very good stay and we would definitely return. read more

Have been coming here for the past few years. The second time for a group cabin trip. The cabins are surprisingly clean and spacious. We stayed at two different floorplans and both were acceptable. I was worried about what I would find in a rustic cabin that I've never been to but I was pleasantly surprised. The first cabin was a duplex and it has a master bedroom, and 2nd bedroom in the loft that shares the livingroom with fireplace and kitchen. The second cabin was a bi-level with the living area on the main floor and the two bedrooms in the walkout basement with a nice patio. It was great and my friends were impressed by the cabin. Found out that there are no pets allowed. We got caught and fined for a 6 pound pet that we brought along. We made him do his business outside and picked up after him. They should reconsider their policy about that. read more

Several family members rented individual cabins here. Best plan ever! We stayed in cabin 33, everything was clean & just as expected. The staff was very pleasant. We were just minutes away from the downtown area, restaurants, local grocery store but still had wooded privacy with an uncrowded pool and path through the woods to a sandy beach front. My boyfriend my dog and I decided we wanted to go on a little trip for the Fourth of July. We chose this charming resort for a plethora of reasons. This resort is dog friendly but clean, fairly well priced, hospitality is a 10/10. Everyone was friendly, extremely helpful and knowledgeable on the area. Wendy and Tammy were especially helpful. This resort includes a pool, privacy in your own cabin, beach access, coupons and discounts for nearby attractions and restaurants. It's secluded but also a 5 minute drive to the downtown dells. Overall it was a great experience and will be coming back. read more

Update: Revised from a 1 star to a 4. Even though booking was rough (see below) we ended up staying there and to be fair, the experience was a good one. Cabins are clean and nice, staff is lovely and accommodating. Its also in a great setting. I was told there were some staffing issues with management which caused the difficulty in booking. Nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone and book a reservation. Online booking tool does not address particulars of pet friendly cabins, does not have complete pictures of cabins, and is difficult to navigate. Other sister resort has incomplete information about the Birchcliff property even though they are solely responsible for booking since the manager does not respond to inquiry. Absolutely no refunds of first night deposit which in this day and age is ridiculous given the other options in the area and the cost of the cabin rental. Stayed here last year, it was great, friendly staff, welcoming and clean. This year not so much. read more

We only stay 2 nights. Wished we could of stayed longer. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo. Spend an afternoon at the pool. Really like the hike on the trail to the beach by the river. Unfortunately it started to rain and had to head back to the resort. We stay at private cabin 1 and loved the private balcony. After checking out and driving an hour on the road and realized I left my tackle box. I called the resort and they found it and made arrangements to ship it back to me. Love this place. They are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place. Will be back. read more

Birchcliff is the perfect independent cabin resort to get away from the world and bring your kids to. Located outside of the Wisconsin Dells main drag, but still a short car/bike ride away from town, there are a mix of old-fashioned and new-style cabins to choose from. There are a lot of onsite activities for them (swimming, goat feeding, sports, hiking, rattling around the game room) and plenty of space for them to run off their energy on. They offer coupons for local businesses and free passes to local water parks. There are firepits and picnic tables, and most cabins seem to have basic amenities like mini fridges, coffee makers and microwaves. Birchcliff even has wifi available at the main office for people who can't disconnect from the outside world completely. The staff is considerate and helpful, seeming to be all members of the same family which is a positive in itself. It's a warm and friendly environment, which is why we've chosen it several times as the site for a family reunion. The only downside is Birchcliff seems to have a problem getting people to follow their non-smoking policy for the inside of their cabins. People are allowed to smoke outside of their cabins and are even provided ashtrays, but twice in two years we've arrived to find our cabin permeated with cigarette smoke from the previous guests, making it unusable. Sydney was kind enough to work with us this most recent time and help find us an alternative cabin to use for 2 of the 3 nights we were in the Dells, but the third night they were otherwise completely booked and we had to go offsite. So this half of the review is for prospective resort guests - Please quit being inconsiderate and lazy about your smoking! Walk the 5 steps outside and smoke there, not in the cabins where it makes everything reek and can cause serious allergic reactions in people that come after you! And even if you don't care about other people, the $500 cleaning charge they will hit you with should motivate you to go outside. read more

Stayed for 3 nights #17 cabin. Good sized very spacey more than a regular hotel room. Regular size fridge, microwave and a fireplace. Definitely would stay again but the bed wasn't the best. The guy waited up until 11pm for us to check is (which they close at 9pm) movies are available all night for us check out and take to the cabins. And pool was a good size, we didn't get to see the lake since we got distracted by the goats lol. Overall it was nice, would stay again if the mattress are changed. read more

We stayed 1 night in October 2012. So we had a Groupon (i will never use a Groupon for a hotel again) and we stayed in the duplex cabin, when the resort was not totally booked. Our neighbors were very loud, drunk, and stayed up literally, until 5:00 and puked on the shared front deck. The walls are not thick and you could hear everything they said. The cabin itself was nice, rustic, and had a cool loft with a spiral staircase. The con to the staircase was that every time the drunk neighbors went up and down all you heard was a boom, boom, boom sound. The grounds were nice, but could have been better. Family camp fire was nice, but was used by another family all night. The play set was nice, the tennis court was nice, but was covered in leaves. The free equipment, tennis racquets, basketballs, and horse shoes were used, but fine for my 7 year old. There was a really cool trail through the woods, past the goat, down to the Wisconsin river. We enjoyed this a lot! The rec room was located upstairs in a log cabin and looked so cool until we found out what was inside an old piano, air hockey (puck was broken), and modified pool table. The owner was really nice when we checked-in. I do feel a little bad writing this because we did not tell her about the neighbors, when we woke up in the morning, we left so I could go home and sleep. They do give you free passes to the waterpark. I thought they could do more to keep up the place and maybe that would keep the drunk kids out. read more

I don't think I'll rent a room at a conventional hotel in Wisconsin Dell's again. This place was awesome! Kid's have room to run around and play. Instead of ordering pizza or getting fast food, you can BBQ in front of your cabin. The cabin we rented had a full kitchen which was really helpful because we have 2 toddlers that are always looking for something to eat. It was clean and surprisingly nice for a cabin. There's a fire pit for smores and a hiking path that leads to a little beach. It was great! My family had tons of fun. We even played tennis and some basketball. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Be warned: If your family likes to be stuck in front of the TV watching cartoons all day or on their electronics, this place is not for you. TV channels are scarce and we didn't try the WIFI which was PERFECT for us! I'm already planning my next visit. read more

We loved this place! Our extended family rented three units right next to each other. We had our privacy and yet could be "together." The units were clean, comfortable and quiet. I loved the low-tech attractions such as shuffleboard, horseshoes, swimming pool, campfire, etc. The located was ideal- close enough to the attractions in the Dells, but far enough to feel like we were in the woods. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We definitely plan to return to this place next time we visit our WI family. read more

Old, musty rooms; beds Fred Flintstone would think are too hard; no lights outside - if you dare come back to the cabin after dark good luck finding your way. My family and I decided to stay at this resort because we wanted to experience a cabin in the woods as opposed to staying at an indoor waterpark hotel. I have to say I was most pleased with the service my family and I received. Brian and his staff were professional and provided helpful information as to where to go and experience. This information helped save lots of money. As for the #3 Cabin, we loved the clean and cozy cabin. They provided all essentials such as pots, pans, plates, cups, towels, and soap. They were kind enough to provide dvds for our family movie night. This was an affordable get away that was most enjoyable. I will return with family members and recommend to clients. read more

The MOST AMAZING experience I have ever had in Wisconsin Dells. Brian and his team were amazing and so helpful with telling us things we can do and helping me find a clinic to take my son. I loved how far the resort felt from crowded downtown but that it was actually really close. I wish I could have went down the full trail to the lake because it looked beautiful! I will definitely be back next year to enjoy my time in the dells at this amazing resort. Also let me not forget how much I loved their basketball court got to kick my husbands butt in some ball! My sister, nephew and I stayed for 3 days, and it was wonderful! The cabin was darling, clean, and came equipped with everything we needed. Activities were many - pool, tennis courts, volleball net, horseshoes, hiking trail to a beach, free movies for the DVR in the TV. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. PLEASE DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR DO NOT STAY HERE!!! This was the most horrible stay ever. Brian was very nice when we check in for a weekend with my grand-kids and son and daughter in-law. We stayed in cabin 38 and 39 it was dirty, smelled musty. Many lights we burnt out and kitchen is a joke, whirlpool does not work, stained mattresses and VERY HARD. We had to wait 2 hours for hot water for showers. The worst ever was when we found BED BUGS were my grandchildren were sleeping! We caught a bed bug and went to Brian with it, I demanded a full refund which I did get. While getting my refund Brian informs me a couple stayed there two weeks prior and complained about the bed bugs and he gave them a refund and they wanted to stay anyway. I was so PISSED he DID NOTHING ABOUT THE BED BUGS AND DID NOT INFORM ME THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. We pack up all our belonging and got the hell out of here!
