The neighbors were doing outdoor construction on their home , saws and hammers. felt like a bit of a Ripoff for 500 / night mid week during a very quiet mid September time. Across a busy road and right by an abandoned unsightly business. Granted it's also across from a very nice Brewpub , which is probably a major selling point. Not a rural feeling but a neighborhood type ambiance. My guess is it would be great for a mid size group during holidays or for a ski trip. The owners did keep asking for final 50% payment many days before we arrived so we left with a not great feeling. There were only two in our party , on our way between Tomahawk and ORD.

Bathroom and kitchen were both well stocked with anything you may need. The hosts were great and quick to respond to any questions. Beds were comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. It even features a large jacuzzi tub which was very relaxing. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend for a wonderful weekend.

I understand the house is old, but faucets shouldn't leak, and the mattress should not have a big divot. Upon arrival, Julie made somewhat of an effort to interact and showed us to our room. The showerheads and Italian lotion and hand soap are nice. The quality of workmanship on repairs left something to be desired. The dining room and stained glass were very well preserved. The constant pressure to donate, tip, and buy things was distasteful. The breakfast was was okay, but definitely would not define as homemade or gourmet: especially the brown and serve sausage. The French press coffee was nice, until the level got low, and the press and coffee looked greasy: like there was greasy water or dish soap in it. Food and coffee were luke warm the 1st day. A little better after. Fruit was fresh. Saturday night they had a loud fundraiser. I wish they would have done it on a day or time they were closed to the public: but not the end of the world. Doorbell could be heard regularly: including late at night. Walked out of our room to someone listening at our door. Very creepy. We felt like we were intrudingnand heard constant complaints about having to make breakfast. We generally stay in 3 star places, but was the Walmart of our experiences.

The cabin was dirty on arrival: dust, dead bugs, trash under the bed, dirty bedding, and a strong musty odor. The outdoor space was no better -- the deck was covered in animal feces we had to clean, the yard was overgrown, the fire pit unusable, and mosquitoes made the space miserable. Inside, we found dangerously overloaded outlets and endured a nearly two-hour power outage caused by the owner's appliance. This was not the safe, comfortable, or enjoyable stay we expected at the price paid. We contacted the management company three times afterward with photos and a fair request for partial compensation. Each time, they refused to take responsibility, offering only excuses and dismissive responses. Travelers: expect a dirty, neglected property with zero support if issues arise. Owners: beware -- your property and reputation are at risk with this company. Many management firms care about guests and homes. Sadly, Sand County Service Company is not one of them.
