Definitely best way to beat the crowds and relax at a quieter campground before the hype of the school year starts up. While the sites look and feel the same as the ones at Devil's Lake, there are far fewer sites and it is much more peaceful. The sites themselves are really well kept. Our little site was still able to fit three cars in the driveway, two full tents and a sunshade.The campground features a massive field, covered family Pavillion and little playground. Really nice way to burn off some energy away from the sites if you're not hiking or sit and have lunch at one if the many picnic tables. Two grills available as well. You can't get better camping showers than I've experienced outside of Mirror Lake! They're all private entrances and have a seperate area behind a partition to put your bag/towel/clothes with a bench. Great hot water and pressure. Seperate bathroom area that is extremely well maintained too. Huge plus! While there aren't a lot of trails, the hiking isn't at all strenuous and has beautiful views of the rock formations along the way. Sturdy walking shoes still required. Personally I wouldn't swim in the water as its a little murkier, although it is so lovely to venture around. You're able to rent kayaks for the best experiences it seems so we'll be doing that next year! I highly recommend taking a break from life at Mirror Lake for camping and relaxed hiking! It's more peaceful and enjoyable during the off season and weekdays. They have a nice dog park for your dogs to be off leash and enjoy. I also enjoyed walking the dogs around the park because the roads weren't constantly busy. They're very accepting of dogs as long as yours are well behaved. Can't tell you how many people commented on our beautiful dogs. They have a heated outdoor swimming pool which is kept clean. They have a nice little game room, basketball hoops, mini golf, as well as other activities for kids. They try to be accommodating to your individual needs. We request a spot near the bathrooms because we need a flat area for my disabled grandmother and they've always been happy to help. The downside is that puts you next to the jumping bean which the kids utilize until late into the night. They do have quiet hours which have always been followed from what we have noticed. 11pm to 7am. So, the bad side is that the majority of the weekend campers break the rules. They leave trash all around their site. They run through your site. They let their dogs off leashes. The kids participate in the paid activities without bands. They get in the pool without showering. They leave dog poop in the dog park and expect someone else to pick it up. But beyond the weekend campers, this is a great place.

You'd think that when you're going to a campground in NATURE you would be renting from those who respect the very NATURE they rely on to make a quick buck. Apparently not, they're making all of their flyers and menus using AI generation which has detrimental environmental consequences. To further add to that, you'd think this place was run next to a data center. Their pool water was unsafe to swim in due to a surplus amount (well over the legal level) of chlorine. Their other pond had blue dye in it as well as other chemicals. After stupidly swimming in this pond water after I decided to bite my tongue and try to have some fun I came to realize that the water supply to the cabin we rented was not working at all, so no shower for me. Or so I thought... they did have public showers that I also reluctantly used because they were covered in trash and looked absolutely disgusting. Oh well, I tried it anyways and to no surprise the water temperature couldn't change. It was set to 120° F with no way to change, so unless I burned my skin, I had no way of getting this dye off me. I was visibly red now after showering in their public shower. Luckily they fixed my shower shortly afterwards and never had to use their shower again. After the shower didn't work I decided to inspect the rest of my cabin to see what other issues existed. The shower curtain rod was broken, a door couldn't close, the lightbulbs weren't screwed in, and the foundation looked terrible. I wanted to have a great time so I did by enjoying conversations around a campfire, but that has nothing to do with the location. I would not recommend taking anyone to this place, as all fun to be had here has entirely to do with who you come with. Don't waste your money making good memories at a bad location, take your friends and your wallet elsewhere and have a much better experience overall. Side note: there is not a whole lot of things to do for kids, as many of the attractions are broken, need attention, or lack any sort of character. There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas, but not at Baraboo RV Resort. Take your kids and your family to a nicer place even if it costs you a few more bucks. You will regret trying to save a few dollars here and you're better off just going elsewhere.

The good: +It's not near a heavily trafficked road like so many campgrounds in the area. So, there's not the threat of constant road noise regardless of which site you're placed in. +The sites are all pretty amazing. We took the time to walk around the entire campground in order to see if there's any sites that we wouldn't want to get stuck in. They were all awesome--not a stinker in the bunch. +The bathrooms are clean and have complimentary showers (ie: not coin op). +The kiddo had a great time riding through the grounds on one of their rent-by-the-hour recumbent (or nearly recumbent, anyway) bikes. +It's a short drive to the Wisconsin Dells if your goal is to enjoy all the entertainment the Dells has to offer. +They allow dogs on leash and even have a large tree lined field for running them off leash (though it's not fenced, so if your dog's recall isn't spot on I'd skip it) +The pool! They have a camp pool for a little water fun on hot days (full of kiddos, definitely not a great spot for adults wanting to get in some laps--but great for kids). +We didn't really check it out, but they do have a little arcade area for the kiddos as well +Each campsite is equipped with water & electricity. We didn't expect this (as we tent camp) but you could definitely bring phone chargers or anything else that may need electricity--even if tent camping. We even saw a tent with a room air-conditioner going in it! While we were there, they were also doing a "Christmas in July" celebration and so many had their sites completely bedecked with Christmas lights. +The spacing between camp sites is, in my opinion, just right. You're definitely not right on top of each other, nor could we even really hear our neighbors. +We noticed they had some cute camp cabins available as well, which were pretty reasonably priced for the area ($75/night). The not so great: +Given each site is equipped with electricity, there's no true "tent sites," which makes camping there for tent campers a little higher than average. That said, it's still less expensive (and more quiet!) than some of the campgrounds directly in the Dells. +Beyond walking around the campground, there's no hiking trails or anything. All in all, a solid spot to enjoy the outdoors, sleep under the stars, and do a little s'more making on a trip to the WI Dells! Get to it!

The campgrounds themselves are well-kept and honestly massive. Can't even imagine how many campsites they have. Ours in particular was in quite the open space with tons of grass, but there are plenty of options that are more wood-like and covered. Nice they have electric hook up options, as we were traveling with both tents and RVs. Hiking trails were awesome too, wow. Really enjoyed our excursions out and about, winding through the woods, rocky up-hills, and taking in the beautiful lake views. Also awesome? The beach and the attached gift shop/restaurant. Super duper well-kept. Tons of beach space (though it was still packed!) with clean sand and shallow waters, great for the kiddos. Also that gift shop is more of a convenience store- it's got it all! The adject ice cream shop was also enjoyed by everyone we traveled with. My only small gripe was the lack of garbage cans. I feel like this is some kind of state-park rule maybe? I don't know there was only one area with dumpsters and unless you trek over there, you're kind SOL with wrappers, ice cream cups, rubbish left over from your restaurant meal, etc. 100% will return here, whether it's for future camping, just hiking outings, or beach days.

When we walked into their beautiful cabin / office the potbelly stove was kicking out a little heat on that chilly morning and the panoramic view of the river through the wall-o-windows was fantastic. The woman who helped us was so friendly and gave us a thorough briefing to prepare us, including helpful details about what to expect from the river. The black-and-white map they provide is a little tough to read. Color would be better. I do like an aluminum canoe best (which is what BRR runs.) The PFDs they provide by default are the orange rectangle type II, but when I asked if they had a vest-type they accommodated. The basic orange are fine if you're leaving them in the boat, but really get in the way if you wear them while paddling. Because s#!t can go wrong fast on a river like the Wisconsin I prefer to wear the PFD most of the time. Our pickup was prompt and the van was clean and in nice shape. I've done many different stretches of the Wisconsin now and I do think the segment between BRR and Arena is the nicest I've done. It's more distant from roads, so without that truck noise it feels more remote. The shore and bluffs are pretty on this stretch too. It's a small and personal operation which is great when it's quiet. I could see them struggling to attend to everyone on busy weekend days, though. Our canoe had clearly see lots of trips - it showed evidence of many repairs and made me question its reliability a little bit. That said, it did not appear to leak at all, so... I do like like renting from a down-river outfitter so there's no need to get back for a specific shuttle time, so BRR has that going against it, but all-in-all this place will likely be my go-to for future trips.

Also they have a kids' wristband thing that includes a bunch of things that are only in the lower section. Bounce pad, dunk tanks, and the popular pedal carts (not allowed up the hill). The best part that really pleased me was the fire rings. Unlike most sites where it's just a tire rim (no disk just a circle) SF uses actual truck rims that still have the disk part of the rim. This raises the ring off the ground a little and the holes in the disk allow air into the fire. Giving a much better burn with less wood. They will also deliver wood to your site. Pool was great. Nice temp. Staff was nice but not nosy. Guests were all ranges but mostly families. Showers and bathrooms were clean and useful. The only downside is the litter. Little pieces of litter everywhere. Turned us off. While we know this is a guest problem, there is a lot that the owners can do to deter it and fix it. This cost that 5th star. Caught a bunch of Pokemon here. Even a Ponyta. ha

Not sure if this campground is under new ownership that being said bathrooms are horrific stalls broke urinals broke showers are a mess vomit! campground is dirty sites are filthy loaded with debris. Quiet hours are not enforced. Had a group of campers camping next to us playing games till 1 o'clock in the morning swearing super loud no enforcement. This campground has really gone downhill. I will never stay there again and I would not recommend if you're there with your kids, if you want a clean campground go somewhere else!! We left a day early because of these issues!!
