This place is clean and well-maintained. The Porta potty's nearest our tent camping site were…read moreliterally pristine even though it was rainy, and they had a nice little trashcan inside the Porta potty and outside of the Porta potty. It's the details! The land itself was gorgeous, the lady on the phone listened to the fact that I had six teenagers and put us at the spot right by the fishing hole where we had our own private beach for the river. The river the first day was up to our knees with a current that was manageable. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative with tubing ($11 a tube) which is what we wanted to do, but they also rented kayaks and canoes. The girl in the store was the family owner's teenage daughter and she was very sweet. At one point the four 14 year old boys took off on an Adventure down river, so I was in cell phone contact after hours with the owner of the campground trying to find out where they might pull aground when we spotted them coming in on an ATV from a local, friendly neighbor. They have a well-maintained volleyball court, gaga pit, badminton court with all the necessary equipment. They had covered picnic table area and a little camp store with cold pop and ice. They had cabins for rent at $149 a night which I looked into when there was a tornado watch. We were the only tent campers, (maybe other people had actually read the weather report), but it was a very quiet campground with only a crying baby early one morning from the many RV sites. None of us took a shower, but I did use the bathroom and peek into the showers and they were spotlessly clean like everything else. We also took a walk through their butterfly garden, so beautiful and peaceful. And for some reason not very many mosquitoes, not sure if they treat for them or we just got lucky but pretty much no bugs except for some flies when the teenagers didn't wash the dishes properly... it was about $150 for three nights of tent camping which included two sites and five packs of wood. A bargain! You won't regret it! Oh and my last bit involves cell phone reception: if you have T-Mobile you will get no service, if you have Verizon you will go from no service to 1 to 2 bars randomly, and if you have AT&T you will have full service the whole time.

We stayed during the week and it was very peaceful and quiet. There were a lot of of children for my three littles to play with. The swimming area is so pretty! It is pretty shallow so it was perfect for my 2 year old and 5year old to play. Our last day we decided to float the river and it was beautiful and an easy float. The owner was friendly as well. My only suggestions are to bring lighter fluid because the wood is a little damp and some type of fly repellant. Mosquitoes were not bad at all which was great! Overall we absolutely loved Lost Falls!

We have camped here two years in a row and enjoyed it a lot each time. The first time was towards…read morethe end of September and we liked that a little better because there were less people compared to the end of August. It's more peaceful and enjoyable during the off season and weekdays. They have a nice dog park for your dogs to be off leash and enjoy. I also enjoyed walking the dogs around the park because the roads weren't constantly busy. They're very accepting of dogs as long as yours are well behaved. Can't tell you how many people commented on our beautiful dogs. They have a heated outdoor swimming pool which is kept clean. They have a nice little game room, basketball hoops, mini golf, as well as other activities for kids. They try to be accommodating to your individual needs. We request a spot near the bathrooms because we need a flat area for my disabled grandmother and they've always been happy to help. The downside is that puts you next to the jumping bean which the kids utilize until late into the night. They do have quiet hours which have always been followed from what we have noticed. 11pm to 7am. So, the bad side is that the majority of the weekend campers break the rules. They leave trash all around their site. They run through your site. They let their dogs off leashes. The kids participate in the paid activities without bands. They get in the pool without showering. They leave dog poop in the dog park and expect someone else to pick it up. But beyond the weekend campers, this is a great place.

For starters these guys love using AI for just about everything. It's all over their instagram and…read moretheir campground is littered with posters clearly generated by AI. You'd think that when you're going to a campground in NATURE you would be renting from those who respect the very NATURE they rely on to make a quick buck. Apparently not, they're making all of their flyers and menus using AI generation which has detrimental environmental consequences. To further add to that, you'd think this place was run next to a data center. Their pool water was unsafe to swim in due to a surplus amount (well over the legal level) of chlorine. Their other pond had blue dye in it as well as other chemicals. After stupidly swimming in this pond water after I decided to bite my tongue and try to have some fun I came to realize that the water supply to the cabin we rented was not working at all, so no shower for me. Or so I thought... they did have public showers that I also reluctantly used because they were covered in trash and looked absolutely disgusting. Oh well, I tried it anyways and to no surprise the water temperature couldn't change. It was set to 120° F with no way to change, so unless I burned my skin, I had no way of getting this dye off me. I was visibly red now after showering in their public shower. Luckily they fixed my shower shortly afterwards and never had to use their shower again. After the shower didn't work I decided to inspect the rest of my cabin to see what other issues existed. The shower curtain rod was broken, a door couldn't close, the lightbulbs weren't screwed in, and the foundation looked terrible. I wanted to have a great time so I did by enjoying conversations around a campfire, but that has nothing to do with the location. I would not recommend taking anyone to this place, as all fun to be had here has entirely to do with who you come with. Don't waste your money making good memories at a bad location, take your friends and your wallet elsewhere and have a much better experience overall. Side note: there is not a whole lot of things to do for kids, as many of the attractions are broken, need attention, or lack any sort of character. There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas, but not at Baraboo RV Resort. Take your kids and your family to a nicer place even if it costs you a few more bucks. You will regret trying to save a few dollars here and you're better off just going elsewhere.

The campsite we stayed in, #8, was directly across from the Park Office and was not secluded at all. We did see some other campsites that were secluded, but they all seem pretty close together, so if you're looking for privacy, search elsewhere. But the place was neat and clean, and the toilets were not bad at all. Not many bugs in June, in the toilets, and the toilets did not smell bad. The good thing about camping across from the Park Office is you get to use their beautiful facilities when they are open. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Just by sheer happenstance we heard on the radio that Natural Bridge State Park was in the area and it sounded cool, so we drove over there to see it and it's so beautiful! The Overlook Point here at Wildcat is also very beautiful and easy to get to. We walked most of the Starlight trail, until it got overgrown, but it was nice and level and an easy hike. The Amphitheater...whoa. This was definitely the most rustic one I've ever seen so far. And I can't imagine one that would be more rustic than this one. It's not bad, it's just small, the seats tip forward, the stage is barely a stage, I don't see how they can possibly hold productions on it, but what do I know? I'm not in the theater--I'm sure they make it work somehow. It's very intimate and cozy, let's put it that way. We came across a gigantic moth at the base of a tree and it turned out to be a Luna Moth, which after it emerges from its cocoon doesn't have mouth parts, so it can't eat! It lives a week to breed, and then dies! All in all, it's not worth a very far drive, but if you're in the general area and want to camp, it's OK. At least it was not noisy at night. Some really nice campgrounds have lots of nice features but are super loud in the evening. This one was quiet, and you could see tons of stars.

(We were not quick enough on the draw). But the campgrounds by the entrance look very nice. In 2020 it's all Do It Yourself parking passes and camp check-in. We enjoyed the lookout stop, complete with a "selfie station" to put your phone. We also did a nice, but mildly rigorous hike of the Old Settler's Trail. The 2.5 mile trail has some steep stairs and elevation changes (don't wear your fashionable high heeled boots like we saw an older lady struggling down the stairs with). Would love to see the trail marked a little better- markings seem to date back a few decades, and we got lost on a switchback. (Note: the nicer looking Hemlock Trail was closed off June 2020 due to erosion or weather.) We loved the hike and the park, and it was nice to have access to clean bathrooms. Sitting at a picnic table enjoying lunch, there was an incredible amount of great bird watching! And yes, a drive or cycle through this park is incredible.

Long Review, but read it for good information…read more Nice, small inexpensive, clean and quiet RV park. Hosts: Super nice and inviting/accommodating. There was a heavy rain the day we were booked and out site held water. He was out there with a sump pump when we arrived. They placed us in a temporary site and the next day the host mowed and blew pine needles from our site so it was ready for us. Bath House: clean with good pressure. Laundry: 1 washer ($1.50) 1 dryer ($1.00) Commercial Grade machines. Never had to wait to get our laundry done. Firewood: $5/bundle. Nearby: Short drive to Tomah (Starbucks for the wife), Fort McCoy, Sparta, Wilton (for the Sparta-Elroy bicycle trails). There is a small bar across the street/walking distance. Haven't tried it yet, but I will add when we do. Host recommended Smitty's for lunch or dinner. It was an excellent suggestion, with inexpensive meals and great service. Internet: Haven't tried theirs. Our Starlink Roaming worked great here in both sites we were in. Here are the cons: Water had a metallic taste/smell to it. If you don't like that, I recommend bringing extra bottled water. Mosquitoes are vicious here. Lots of standing water in the cranberry bogs and marshes, so they are abundant. Small sites, though plenty of room for me to put out my corn hole boards and play. Turns are tight. I recommend. Update 26 July for Cons: My neighbor learned a less than desirable lesson. Not all campsites have individual breakers. He left the campsite early in the morning to venture around, and the camper on the other side of him pulled out while he was on the town. Both sites were on the same breaker. When they unplugged from the site, they cut the breaker as they should. However, my neighbors power was cut as well. And he was gone all day. No pets involved, but that is another reason to have a pet monitor in your camper.
