Loved everything about this place- the breakfast nook and lounge area where everything was right out of the 50's. The rooms all have different names & themes which are lovingly and impressively done. It's a great place for a family gathering as there's loads of outdoor space: 1) large Fire pit in back, 2) Gazebo with lawn games, 3) picnic tables. Then, in front are the BBQ grills and several different-styled patio tables, as well as, 2 colorful nostalgic metal chairs directly outside each room. Lovely landscaping & flowers everywhere. Don't miss the bubbling brook just alongside the South side of the lounge and a peaceful spot to read. We visited Devils Lake Park, a diner in Baraboo, and an escape room in the Dells area. Adorable Inn close to Devil's lake, a few minutes from Downtown Baraboo, and less than 20 minutes to all that the Wisconsin Dells has to offer. We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo. read more

This is honestly the best place I've stayed. It's an affordable, adorable retreat that invites you to relax. The location is ideal. It's yards away from the great basement restaurant The Barn, so you can rest assured of a superb dinner and drinks afterwards without worrying about a drive home. Just a fraction of mile further is the main entrance to Devil's Lake State Park, the gem of Wisconsin's parks. And not much past that is the quirky wonder of The Forevertron, the edifice to eternal hope and weird junk metal. We even took a day to check out Spring Green (Taliesin, House on the Rock, American Players Theater, etc). The décor of Willowood is beyond wholesome. Each room is thematically decorated: The Wild West room, Victorian, Grandma's Room, Tiki, Gone Fishin', etc. The office is something of a common room, kitchen, video store, and lobby all rolled into one. If you've ever wondered what happened to all your old VHS tapes, they're here and free to check out. And if you're not feeling the mood for those, there's free wifi for your gizmos. Outside each rooms there are a couple of sittin' chairs. Beanbag toss is there for the tossing. The whole place invites you relax and meet your fellow guests if you have extra time. Around back is a huge lawn and a modest playground for young ones: teeter totter, sandbox, swings, and more. One of the nights we stayed we were invited to the fire pit for a drink with all the other guests, and I doubt that our experience was a rare one. Staying here was a relaxing and wholesome experience that's hard to put into words. The atmosphere is an idyllic dacha village. It recharged my batteries and still brings me fond memories. We just spent the night at Willowood and wished we would have stayed for two. Our room was cute with a good mattress that felt great after a long day hiking at Devil's Lake. The property is lovely, with lots of places to sit outside and linger over a cup of coffee and continental breakfast. My husband I both agree this would be a great place to hold a family reunion and hope to come back again with some extra family in tow. read more

Absolutely loved this motel!! The decor, the location, the hospitality by the inn keeper was outstanding!! I felt so comfortable and at home I wished we had more than one night there. Although amenities, such as shampoo, lotion, blow dryer, are offered but not in rooms. The bedding was comfortable and clean!! Location to Devils Lake was super convenient. i ditto what Matt X said!! We really enjoyed our stay and the owner took her time to give us restaurant recommendations for Baraboo as well as the town speed trap. She did not miss any details in our room, and we really felt welcomed and comfortable. This place is a true gem with so much character. Our bed was comfortable, the room was so quiet, so very clean and had a wonderful shower. What a value! Exceeded every expectation. If you get a chance, eat breakfast at Jen's Alpine Diner, what a treat! We loved this stay in Baraboo. Avoid Log Cabin, kinda depressing, but we were starving. Food was gross. Side note...we were most impressed that there were no screaming kids, I think this hotel may be great for adults or a romantic weekend. We loved the peace and quiet!!!! read more

Funky neat little place. Stayed here over 4th of July weekend. Got the "Fishing" room which was funny because my boyfriend likes fishing. Room was fully decorated with knick knacks that was related to fishing. They have spots for you to grill in the front and back. There's a place for a bon fire and things like that too which was pretty sweet. Little playground as well. Little pantry place at the main "office" that has cups, waffle grill and stuff for use. There was a mini fridge and A/C in the room. Owner was very nice. Would come back! read more

We rented the cottage. The owner had everything we could possibly need. Her son was helpful as well. They are a kind family. It is minutes from Devil's lake, and more private. There was also a yearly car show nearby that one member of our group attended. They do have a community fire pit. We had our own. The owner asks that people be quite after 10pm. There was a bridal party staying in one of the rooms - they went bar hopping and got loud when they got back. But we asked them to quiet down, and they did. Overall, it was a lovely experience. I was looking for a peaceful , tranquil place to stay and that is exactly what I got! The theme room we stayed in was thoughtfully decorated to honor the hochunk people indigenous to the region. I truly loved that! And the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. The room was very clean. The motel is set near the beautiful devils lake state park so was very convenient to visit and spend the day at the state park. But the accommodations at the motel was thoughtfully thinking of their guests with an outdoor area on the beautiful grounds with outdoor activities, playground and sitting around a campfire and outdoor grilling area. The gazebo was a beautiful setting to end the day as the sunset. In fact, my daughter, who I was traveling with is considering having her future wedding at this quaint, beautiful setting at willowood. I would definitely go back for another stay. Passing through on a cross-country roadtrip, and after staying at mostly soulless chain motels, Willowood was like coming home. The rooms are well equipped, very comfortable, clean, and super cute. The lobby has even more amenities for the use of patrons, and the yard/park is family friendly. Staff are helpful and friendly, and I couldn't be happier with my stay. Can't recommend highly enough! My husband and I stayed here in July 2015. We were looking for a place close to The Dells and Devil's Lake State Park. This was perfect. Closer to the state park than The Dells, but that worked for us because we spent time exploring Baraboo and hiking at Devil's lake. We had stayed in Wisconsin Dells the month prior with our kids and wanted something more quiet and with a small town feel. This was it. You could tell they were in the process of updating the grounds, new landscaping and such. It should be pointed out that this is not an upscale place. There is a very laid back, relaxed atmosphere. A couple working the office the day we got there were great! Friendly, helpful couple that gave suggestions about dinner and things to do around Baraboo. The office feels like someone's home, with a kitchenette, comfy chairs and an area to eat. Our room was comfortable. The bed was nice and plenty of blankets and pillows. The bathroom was what we needed, even if the shower was small. We liked having a parking spot right in front of our room and the little deck out front with chairs and a table. We enjoyed sitting around a fire with other visitors just relaxing. We got exactly what we wanted from this place....quiet, relaxing, small, convenient, and pleasant service. Quiet was a huge deal for me because I have had horrible experiences at hotels with loud guests and there is no enforced quiet time. I loved that there was a quiet time and it was enforced. We plan to return to this area in the future and we will consider staying here again. read more

This is a great place to stay and the prices are very reasonable. We've stayed at Willowood Inn on two occasions and we will come back. The owners live on-site and are usually walking around making sure everything is nice and neat. They care about their Inn and it makes it a great place to spend a night or two at. They used to have a swimming pool but they removed it about a year ago due to maintenance costs. read more

Stayed here for one night after a day hiking at Devil's Lake state park. Yes, they have a couple beautiful willow trees. Extremely clean, very inexpensive (79$ for queen bed), themed rooms which border on kitschy but are quite endearing (at least ours was, it's called the wilderness lover's suite). Family owned and operated. In Room: Individual cup coffee maker, Window unit a/c that was more than adequate, Fridge, Television, VCR (can rent tapes in the lobby for a buck). Didn't get to take advantage of the fire pit and other amenities on the grounds, lots of seating, room to lounge. The lobby was also very well cared for and there were more amenities, mugs and to go cups for coffee or tea, ice machine, etc, menus for nearby restaurants, maps. Only complaint is the shower-head didn't swivel and the stall was quite small, made it hard to rinse off, but the water pressure was great. My boyfriend I were looking to go on an outdoorsy getaway Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to hike around Devil's Lake State Park and go kayaking. We dont own any camping gear so camping was not an option. We stumbled upon the Willowood Inn online and made a reservation. It definitely exceeding our expectations! You cant beat the price and location. It is walking distance to Devils Lake State Park so we did not have to hassle parking at the park. It is also a 15 minute drive to kayaking the Baraboo river. Linda, the owner, was magnificent. She was very helpful with making recommendations for food activity in the area. Each room has A/C, a refrigerator, tv and a bathroom/shower. There is free wifi which is an added bonus. The room was clean and had just the right amount of space for two people. On the property, there are plenty of BBQs and places to eat outdoors. There is a firepit out back which was perfect for making smores. Overall, we had a wonderful time and we would definitely recommend this Inn to others!!!! read more
