Avoid Chula Vista Resort -- outdated, poorly maintained, and managed with zero accountability We recently stayed at Chula Vista Resort and left thoroughly disappointed. What should have been a straightforward getaway turned into a checklist of basic failures that management simply dismissed. The infrastructure issues were immediate. The elevator's down button was broken and covered with blue painter's tape -- a clear accessibility problem and potential ADA violation that left guests guessing or forced to take the stairs. Multiple interior doors showed serious delamination, with the wood veneer peeling and separating in long strips. Beds were so worn you could feel the springs through the mattress. Furniture and carpeting throughout felt dated and tired. Outside was no better. Trash bins overflowed and litter was scattered on the ground around them. The cabana roof over the wave pool area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years -- covered in what appeared to be long-term mold and grime that any HOA would have fined a homeowner for. The overall grounds felt neglected. During our stay a cheerleading event was underway. Mascots walked into the dining area, one of them took a purse and poured mustard into someone's coffee without the person's knowledge. Staff did nothing to stop or address it. When we raised these problems with management, they were dismissive, minimized every concern, and offered no meaningful response. Rude or indifferent employees only compounded the sense that no one was actually in charge of basic standards. Between the broken elevator, delaminating doors, springy beds, overflowing trash, neglected roofs, and chaotic event behavior that staff ignored, this property feels like it has given up on maintenance and guest experience. We will not return and cannot recommend it.

We stayed at Chula Vista for 2 nights and had a very good experience. From the moment we checked in, the staff at the front desk was terrific. Wealth of knowledge, courteous, and professional. The rooms are very spacious. They need to be updated, but we still had everything we needed, including microwave and refrigerator. There is a huge store by the front desk with a coffee shop. The resort was decorated nicely for the season, and the service at the huge main bar was exceptional. Drinks were great. There were lots of people ordering food at the bar, which looked awesome, especially the pizza. We walked through the water park area just to see it, but we didn't swim. It wasn't super busy, but they definitely packed alot of attractions in a small area. We had arcade credits and spent a few hours on the arcade which was really fun! The property is huge and beautiful. I would return!

minutes ago on Google Paid for the all inclusive package 4th of July weekend 2025 and it has been full of disappointment. The staff is rude and are trying to give their friends free food and drinks rather than honor the all inclusive wrist bands. In line for a drink, the attendant kept trying to take the order of the people behind me and then told them they should've ordered from her she would've gave it to them for free. Then proceeded to charge us even though we had all inclusive wristbands and then brought us the wrong drinks. Don't come here . I took video and photos of everything

Outdated, Uncomfortable, Dirty. Bed looked like this when we checked in.

Old, shabby "resort". Booked an "executive king suite w/ a river view" and got a rock-hard bed with a couch. Smells funky, too. Rude, unwelcoming staff. Just awful!

So storytime!! We went up to the dells at Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells for the weekend. We checked take the kids to Waterpark , dinner etc get cleaned up to rest got o bed the kids are still up watching movies on the tablets well they wake us up close to midnight saying there are bugs all over the room in the kitchen and bathroom and came out once the lights went off. We get up to check it out and I wasnt sure what they were at first. So I decided to do a Google lens search of what it was and come to find that what it was German Cockroaches!!!! And they were everywhere. So I go to call front desk to find the phone isn't working in the room. So I had to call through my phone which brings me to some call center. FIRST the guy was like well were close to sold out and wanted to move us to a room that was like right next to the room ... um no there going to be there too guaranteed. Im like no I want away put of this building somewhere else. Supposedly they didnt have one in the other buildings so they offered on the other end for the night a floor above but was a down graded room. By this time its almost 1am fine do it the kids need to get to bed were ticked and exhausted. We extra checked the room which it was clean nothing thankfully. We're told to come talk to the hotel manager in the morning. We go in the morning im crabby because honestly who could sleep after being in the 1st room with bugs in it gross!! We go down and low and behold manager isn't there yet. The supervisor who give us am upgrade in a different building in a condo which was nice. We said we wanted our money back for the night before because of all the Inconvenience we've had to go through. And was told because we purchased the all inclusive package that she wasnt able to refund anything and that we would have to wait to speak to the manager and he would be on at 3pm so again we had to wait to come back to speak to him fine we wil do that another inconvenience having to keep going back. Finally get to the time to speak to him go to front desk and explain again to some one there who basically brushed us off like they didnt care. Like well why hasn't anyone else complained?? And that theres no way they could be in another room. I call bs. But we get to finally speak to the manager who tells us yah I know about it so we tell him we want some compensation for this due to all the inconvenience just Friday night because we were okay with everything were we are now. And he goes well we gave you a room upgrade and all like we had to move your lucky were still here and not demanding a full refund! He first tries to offer 50% a future stay umm no thats not going to cut it. Then offers a $150 gift card. Fine we'll take it but told him we are calling the health department. He was so rude to us and indont get because we had an all inclusive package why we couldnt get comped for our troubles?!?! So public service warning dont stay here or if you do go do not stay in any of the gold Villa buildings unless you want to deal with roaches!! I am going to post this everywhere too. In comments I will post the picture of just a few of what we found in the room!! Ughh disgusting gross !! If anyone knows anyone going there please inform them about this and share with eveyone!!! Located outside of the Wisconsin Dells main drag, but still a short car/bike ride away from town, there are a mix of old-fashioned and new-style cabins to choose from. There are a lot of onsite activities for them (swimming, goat feeding, sports, hiking, rattling around the game room) and plenty of space for them to run off their energy on. They offer coupons for local businesses and free passes to local water parks. There are firepits and picnic tables, and most cabins seem to have basic amenities like mini fridges, coffee makers and microwaves. Birchcliff even has wifi available at the main office for people who can't disconnect from the outside world completely. The staff is considerate and helpful, seeming to be all members of the same family which is a positive in itself. It's a warm and friendly environment, which is why we've chosen it several times as the site for a family reunion. The only downside is Birchcliff seems to have a problem getting people to follow their non-smoking policy for the inside of their cabins. People are allowed to smoke outside of their cabins and are even provided ashtrays, but twice in two years we've arrived to find our cabin permeated with cigarette smoke from the previous guests, making it unusable. Sydney was kind enough to work with us this most recent time and help find us an alternative cabin to use for 2 of the 3 nights we were in the Dells, but the third night they were otherwise completely booked and we had to go offsite. So this half of the review is for prospective resort guests - Please quit being inconsiderate and lazy about your smoking! Walk the 5 steps outside and smoke there, not in the cabins where it makes everything reek and can cause serious allergic reactions in people that come after you! And even if you don't care about other people, the $500 cleaning charge they will hit you with should motivate you to go outside.

The room was clean, beds where made, the floors honestly looked freshly swept or mopped. The a/c worked great and no smell to the room! Room service needs to be called in order for them to come to you, but I called around 2:30pm for new towels and they brought them not even 10 mins later! The showers are a good size and the bathrooms were clean! My lack of stars is actually for the pool area + arcade. I hate the time limits on things like the hot tub and warming pools. As well as not enough tubes for the lazy river/ rides! The arcade is also more for younger kids but no issue there other than the workers! The card machine ate $80 of cash and they said there was nothing they could do about it! I had to call and complain a few times for them to offer money back. I decided on this place since they had a few unique slides and such a unique look! plus you got 2 parks in one. I am not a go kart person and they have quite a lot of them. My husband enjoyed those. I just watched. I really wanted to try the roller coasters and I was so lucky with NO lines. The 4 wooden coasters are rough and very intense rides. Would I ride them again? Probably not. But I was so glad I could try them. The waterpark was fun. I did spend most of my time in the indoor portion. However, I really enjoyed the lazy river outside. The crazy wave pool with the 9 foot waves ... scary and crazy... Also not for me but I enjoyed people watching. The rotating slide is really why I was there. I never been on something like this. I think it's the only one in the USA and wow was it weird. It was really fun and different and something I will be probably never experience again. It can give you a little bit of motion sickness due to the movement but if that's not an issue for you, you should be good. I also love a good hot tub which they had. I definitely recommend and would love to come back. It was just so unique and fun.

I noticed on the website right away that sundara had construction going on. So when I called to reserve I asked right away exactly How the construction would affect our stay. They assured me that where we were going to be staying they wouldn't be working and that all the work was being done on the way opposite side of the resort. So I went Ahead and gladly paid $577 for my over night stay and couples massage. The room was awsome and the massages were great! But then to get woken up at 7:30am with loud banging literally right next door was frustrating. I think it's great your trying to imprOve and expand but then be honest with me and I would have waited to spend my $577 when the construction was over. My friend works construction everyday and took today (Monday) off of work to get away and relax with me and we dealt with it the whole time. Also I think it's pretty unsanitary to have the breakfast food literally NEXT to rooms that are being worked on. I could see dust coming from a room very close to wear all the fruit and other food was laying out.

We got a discount in the restaurant and we could use the amenities free. We took advantage of the whirlpool, sauna, and a wonderful stroll on the Riverwalk that night after dinner at High Rock Cafe. Unfortunately, on the day we visited previous guests had tossed several towels in the pool and nobody had checked the area to clean it. A quick discrete visit to the front desk, took care of that but we opted to stay out of the pool. The Sauna and whirlpool were fabulous! We were lucky enough to have three places to ourselves for anyway an hour before guests showed up with kids. It was a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon before a marvelous dinner. We had planned to come to the restaurant for the advertised brunch the next morning but decided to return home instead. Next time, we're going to hit up the beautiful sky views over the river for brunch! Everywhere we went, people bragged about the menu at The Vue restaurant. It sounds like a great place for adults for any meal!! We were told drinks and appetizers were fabulous! Next time, for sure!! The most amazing part of this property is that it's on a beautiful Riverwalk. After our dinner, we strolled the walk in the cool night. I was a little hesitant and worried about safety, being originally from Chicago! However, there were lots of people walking, an outdoor art exhibit, and the pathway is well lit with entrances to all the Riverwalk businesses a accessible from the cemented pathway. There's also a police station very close by -- near the grocery store. It turned out to be a very lovely walk. I was glad my friend insisted we go. Check out this property. Consider staying at it. It's convenient located near downtown -- close enough to walk to all the shopping and dining you could desire! Many of the main attractions are also downtown. If you're willing to walk (we were), you could be very happy with the convenience of this location.

The picture of the room in no way reflects what my room looked like AT ALL. Definitely a motel with poor amenities and dirty! I spilled some water on the floor and used a towel to clean it up. The towel ended up completely dirty from wiping the floor (disgusting). Added picture. Also saw a piece of what I think was dried up meat next to the microwave. They indicate you get free WiFi and cable TV. I was unable to get any WiFi unless I went across the street to the lobby. I asked the front desk about it and they use the router from the hotel and expect that the buildings across the street will connect to the signal (no extender). I included a pic of the message I received on all of my devices. When it did connect, it would then indicate "Internet no connection". My nephew wanted to watch a movie so we turned on the TV. Only got 5 of the cable channels and they were 3 news channels and a cartoon channel. All other channels indicated the signal was too weak (again, probably wired into the cable from across the street). As I sat in the lobby over two days when I needed WiFi, I counted 6-7 customers who went to the front desk complaining about various things. The front desk sticks to their script and we're not accommodating or helpful. Always offered to give the money back and the person could go elsewhere. I have never observed so many complaints from a variety of people (in two days) and I do quite a bit of traveling. We have stayed in 4-5 places in the Dells and this is BY FAR the worst accommodations and customer service we have encountered. Even the "free" use of the Natura beach (which is a great perk) won't lure us to stay at a Natura "resort" ever again. Recommendation: STEER CLEAR of their hotel/lodging!!

We couldn't decide out of the two experience which one to do so we did a double feature. We come into the building on the 4th of July and there is an information desk because the place is loaded with other things to do at the resort. We get to the Take Flight and wait in line until it's time for us to go in. It was a bit of a wait because a group before us had just gone in. We did the Space Flight first. WOW is all I can say! I don't want to give it away but I would recommend the experience. It's full of surprises. We really enjoyed Space Flight. Then we unfortunately had to stand in line again for Wonders of the American West. That wait was even longer. We enjoyed that experience too. We got our pictures taken by a photographer for both experiences and we took advantage of their picture offerings after we were done to remember the experience. The one thing that needs improvement is that you have to be weighed before getting access to the line (which is fine). You have to be less than 325 pounds. There is a red light/green bright circular light on a tall pole right above the scale for everyone to see. It's embarrassing if you step on and it turns red for no entry. That should be moved so only the attendant can see. No one should have anxiety about people seeing if you get a green light or red light. Next we were hungry so we stopped at the Camp Social Burger Bar. Many were hanging out at the bar and the food looked pretty good so we decided to get the Burger BBQ which is an angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and onion strings with bbq sauce. It came with homemade potato chips. Hubby got a pina colada mocktail and they decorated it so pretty with the 4th of July colors and decorations. I must say the burger, chips and the drink were divine. We sat in the seating they have and just chilled which was nice. They have so many other eating places and a candy shop. We really enjoyed our experience there and highly recommend. Thank you Wilderness at the Resort. A+ in our books!

For teens, though, there are definitely other resorts I'd consider first.

Horrendous customer service. I reserved the deluxe room through Expedia, with a fireplace. When I…read moregot there, they put me into a regular room that had a rancid disgusting smell. I complained to the front desk. They said they cannot do anything about the deluxe room, but they moved me to another standard room, which was ok, but not what I paid for. The whole experience was extremely inconvenient and took over an hour of my vacation time. I typically don't post bad reviews like this unless the place is really bad. I communicated with their management to try to work this out. They basically told me to go pound sand and to deal with Expedia. Expedia told me it's Great Wolf Lodge problem not their problem. With so many other nice water parks in the area, why would I come back to this sh*thole?
