Once you're finally inside, the staff is super nice and efficient (it helps having only a few things on the menu), and the salad is very refreshing after waiting so long to eat. The house red wine is very good, too. The steak comes rare, medium, or well done. If you usually go for medium-rare like I do, I recommend going rare. It was perfectly pink on the inside but still had a good bite. The steak is excellent, and the sauce is to die for. And the French fries? Out of this world. It may seem a little gimmicky that they refill your plate, but you'll be so happy with how good the food is, it doesn't matter. I used the fries to scrape the plate clean. I was sadly too stuffed to try the dessert, but it looked fantastic. Definitely recommend getting to the restaurant before they open and waiting out the line -- the steak and fries are more than worth it!

Your starter is a salad with a mild horseradishy sauce. All items are simple and delicious. There are about 12 dessert choices that are NOT included in the dinner price. We had three different items and they were all delicious. About 8€ each. If you want to get seated when you are hungry, you need to get in line outside 30 to 45 minutes in advance. The service is very friendly and quick. The restaurant is nice but comfortable nice not fancy smancy. Go and enjoy!

I didn't mind the wait if the food was good, but it wasn't the case for me. The mustard dressing salad was ok but the steak was so dry and I could eat only 3 slices. The waitress was very nice. She encouraged me to eat more but I just couldn't. I told her that I would skip the second plate. She actually packed the leftover for me but the food which didn't taste good then wouldn't taste good later, either. I had a bite of the steak later but I still didn't like it. The wine also tasted like water. We just laughed how bad everything was. This place is popular among tourists and I fell for it. Anyway I thought I should share my experience.

I've referred multiple people here and everyone loved the experience. This was my third, but certainly not final visit to the legendary Robert et Louise. I'm now rocking their merch. Ask the staff for a pairing of whiskey or wine with your meal and enjoy the ride. Service/Ambiance: 5/5. Make a reservation. Yes, make a reservation. Sit at the bar or take whatever they have available if you happen to "drop in." Be cool. The legendary OG Anthony Bourdain dug this place, so don't be a demanding American. Buen provecho.

One couple even tried to reserve a table for later in the week, only to be told there were no openings at all. When I mentioned my surprise to the bartender, he smiled and explained that Anthony Bourdain had featured Robert et Louise on his show, which brought them international fame. I had no idea when I walked in--it was pure luck. Fame aside, it's easy to see why the restaurant remains so beloved: the food is simple, rustic, and outstanding. I started with escargot, followed by a perfectly cooked steak with roasted potatoes and a crisp green salad. The true test of a great restaurant is how well it executes the basics--and here, they were exceptional. Tip: make a reservation in advance. This place fills up fast for good reason.

And I did choose it for that alone. I'm not a huge foodie, I have a stomach condition that tends to take a lot of joy out of eating for me, so I look for ambiance more than anything. We booked an early lunch while on our honeymoon, and I'm so glad we did. It was basically empty. We were given a choice between the "Main Room" or the front room (there is also a bar/lounge area), trust me you want the main room. Because I booked an early time slot we mostly had the room to ourselves. There was only one other table in use (and it turned out to be one of the chefs dining with his family) We both got the same item and we both loved it. I get my steak medium well (sorry lol) and it was a little too pink for me. Before I had to ask our server came back to check and swiftly took it back with no judgement at all. We also both loved our desserts. This is really random, but the women's bathroom smelled incredible. they had a custom candle going that was "tea"scented and it was INCREDIBLE. I stood there smelling it and even took a photo to try to source somthing similar. I fully expected a really pretentious atmosphere but thats not really what we experienced. It was confortable and elegant, but not stuffy. If it helps, I wore a blazer as a top and leather pants with chunky loafers and didn't feel under or over dressed for lunch. We will absolutely be back for dinner on our next trip to Paris but I do reccoend it for lunch to see the Min room in it's full glory. While I have never been there at night, it does seem less vibrant in the evening, and agin i was there for the atmosphere and was pleasantly surprised by the food.

I have heard this place gets busy and I would definitely recommend making a lunch reservation as the 2 course lunch menu is a pretty great deal (starter or dessert + main for 39 euros). I had the starter of the day which was a delicious and refreshing salmon crudo, was just a bit small! For my main I had the iconic steak frites, medium rare, covered in the famous beefbar truffle sauce, which was quite delicious and a decent portion! I didn't find the steak to be anything extremely special, however, I would still recommend beefbar for the aesthetic and stellar service.
