Wow! So I'm recovering from a cold, 3 months pregnant, and really wanted some pho. After easily parking and arriving, we were seated immediately and given a delicious, warm teapot for the table. I started with #11- The Shrimp and Papaya Salad as well as #2- Summer Rolls. The slightly sweet and sour marinade on the fresh papaya, carrots, and shrimp gave the salad such bright flavors- I could eat this all day. The Summer Rolls were also bright, fresh, and yummy with shrimp, pork, vermicelli, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, and shredded lettuce with a precious, sweet peanut dipping sauce. Then I had #13- the super fresh and satisfying House Combo Pho large size with loads of rare beef, well done beef, brisket, tender tendon, and tripe in a Vietnamese beef broth with vermicelli noodles, bean sprouts, basil, and lime. Other condiments like hot sauce and soy sauce were on the table. Their House Special Combination Fried Rice (#L14) was just killer and can last a couple meals by itself with a mega-flavorful mix of peas, carrots, a Chinese-type sweet sausage, egg, seasoned fried tofu, and mini shrimp. For a treat, I had an addictively refreshing Durian Milkshake (#107) with very natural flavors and soft, bouncy boba (large tapioca pearls) while other fruit choices were avocado, jack fruit, and sour sop among others. I also eyed this "Rainbow" treat of sweet red beans, green beans, and Jello listed on the wall, but had no room left... this time. While I wish they gave us water, everything else made up for it. Great food, fresh, and authentic. The number 12 pho special is huge! Large portions of fresh sliced beef. It's sliced nice and thin, and boy is it tender. It's my new go to spot for Vietnamese food. Also the grilled chicken over rice and spring rolls where phenomenal. The owner is a New Yorker so he is bringing authentic viet food to jersey. Up until last week, my wife and I would only get our Vietnamese fix from a restaurant in Bloomfield. That changed when she and I decided to try the new Vietnamese restaurant that replaced Saigon Grill. We are so glad we did. Once we walked in, we realized that this is the sister restaurant of the one in Bloomfield. Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant just moved into town! Needless to say, we were both ecstatic. The manager, Sam, was very friendly and happily suggested some items from the menu. We started with the Summer Rolls for appetizers. Very fresh and clean flavors - exactly what you should expect. I had the Vietnamese pork chop over rice which was delicious - very juicy and savory (definitely worth ordering again). My wife had the large Pho house combo. I guess it was good considering she finished it all (maybe next time, she'll let me sneak a taste). Before we left, I noticed that their whiteboard specials included a sandwich that Sam confirmed is Banh Mi. I would just need to call ahead to make sure it is available. This place was near empty when my friend and I stopped by for dinner. I ordered the beef pho and some sort of shrimp roll with peanut sauce (sauce was bomb) with a glass lemonade. I wasn't too thrilled for the pho, I felt like I've had more flavorful pho meals at other places but I did enjoy my meal with some sriracha. I was sad that I couldn't get solid vietnamese food when I moved back here. Then, I saw a menu flyer for this place in the new Gold Valley Supermarket in Springfield. "If an Asian restaurant advertises in an Asian supermarket, then it's probably legit," I thought. Turns out that was a good call! So I've only had a few things here (summer rolls, pho ga, green papaya salad, a bite of my friend's vermicelli, ca fe sua da), but it's enough to declare this the best Vietnamese food I've had in NJ. (I don't think I've been to Binh Duong I, to be fair). I used to live in a viet neighborhood, and it seriously spoiled me. This is very good, service is a little slow. No fish sauce on the table (I didn't bother asking for it, to be fair), and there's broccoli in the pho (I dig it, actually). Potential for five stars, I haven't explored the menu enough. I am highly disappointed in this joint. The last time I dined at Binh Duong, I awarded them with five stars...this time is whole other story. I ordered a traditional Vietnamese sandwich, expecting it to be ever so delicately put together that it would make me drool even thinking about it...WRONG! I paid $7.60 (with tax) for a joke of a sandwich. The sandwich itself was slightly burnt on the edges, tasted stale, and had two super thinly sliced (so thin that I couldn't even distinguish the type of meat it was) cha lua...I, on the other hand, am well known for distinguishing between distinctive types of meat, but seriously...I was shocked that I even paid that much for just...bread and pickled veggies (they even skimped out on the veggies as well). Another wait to have our order taken.... Summer roll portion is so small for $5. They're good, but feel like I should've received more at that price. Rare beef pho was a miss for me... Did not like the broth but the beef and noodles were fine. Boyfriend had the vermicelli with pork and spring rolls, which he ate up. Prices are reasonable for the entrees. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our bill, which never came. We ended up leaving money on the table and walking out. This is my go to restaurant for pho. Between Linden, Union and Hillside, I've tried few different Vietnamese restaurants this one is the best for a pho fix. I love the beef and the chicken pho. No matter how many times I order take it it's always on point! The customer service is also good, I do like they speak English which is great to place take out orders. For dining in, this is a small cozy restaurant with plenty of parking. The service is fast and good! The menu has plenty of options. They recently changed owners and it is better than it was before. The owner is extremely friendly, sweet and helpful. He makes you feel so welcomed and important. The place is clean, the menu is fairly priced and the portions are good. My favorite is the calamari. It is so crispy and cooked so well you don't even need nor would you want the sauce that comes with it. Another favorite is the grilled pork chops over rice, I always ask for a fried egg on top. So this has been my go to place for the past 2 years or so. Well last week they ended our relationship. I went to get some pho because I was feeling like I was coming down with a cold. So I ordered 2 orders of pork chop pho, one for me and one for my husband later. When I got back to work with my food I realized my broth wasn't inside the bag (neither was my noodles, but didn't notice it at the time) so i called and they said they forgot to give it to me so come in get it. So I return back to get my broth and as I walk in, I am asked did I bring back the food. No, why would I bring back the food if I'm just coming to get broth? The guy then says we gave you the wrong order, so can you please bring the food back. No I'm working and can't go back to get food that you never said was the wrong order. On top of that you are NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE FOOD BACK TO SERVE TO SOMEONE ELSE. He then says we'll the food you received was wrong and if you would like your correct order you can give me an additional $20 and you can keep everything. Why would I give you more money for something that I didn't order and you made a mistake with?!?! So I just left and was stuck with the food I already had. I will not return to this place! I was heading back from a mechanic shop and I passed by this place I figured I'd drop in. I found that this place is very authentic, everyone was really nice and the food was great. Pretty good size bowl for the usual #1. They gave more meat than I expected but would of like more beef tripe. My only complaint if anything was that it was lunch time the place wasn't packed and the food took a little longer than 30 minutes.
