This place is an institution. Historical. The ambiance is exactly what you want from a dive tiki bar. Although there are no tiki cocktails, the beer is cold and cheap. Can't go wrong. Don't go in expecting a classic or modern tiki bar, this is a tropical dive, in the best possible way.

Came to this hole in the wall cash-only tiki bar while waiting for a seat at a nearby restaurant. It was a Friday night and aside from our group there were only about 4 others there. We ordered a mix of cocktails, beers, and shots and I got a dark and stormy from the tiki list. It was a cool enough dive bar, but it was oddly quiet. They had a jukebox that you could pay to pick the songs, but as soon as the songs we picked ran out the music went off and it was silent. Felt a little uncomfortable and too divey for what we were feeling that night.

Trista the bartender was so friendly. Made great drinks! Love the dive vibes. Bought a glow in the dark tshirt! Support your local business!

This is a nice little hole in the wall bar that I stumbled across while I was going to see the Prince Mural. It has indoor dining seating (hi-tops and booths), bar seating and a modest fenced in patio area with a few tables. They have music playing throughout the inside. There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance. The bar is dimly lit and decorated with colorful Christmas lights. You will find a digital juke box here to get the party started, but they also have music playing if you did not want to select your favorites jams from the juke box. It is important to note that the bar is cash only, but they do have an ATM inside to get cash though. They have a wide selection of your tropical tiki favorites, which are my favorites. If was a tough choice, but I got a Mr Howell and Freaky Tiki. They were very savory, and did not last long. All of the bar's signature cocktails are $9, which makes it simple. The bartender was friendly. The bar seems to have its regulars and he was very familiar with most of the patrons. This chill bar is definitely worth checking out.

I love tiki dive bars and this one has been around forever (since the 40's). Bikini Lounge is located on legendary Grand Ave in Phx. A group of us came by here for some drinks before a show and had a fun time here. Drinks are affordable and strong and are cash only (there is an ATM inside). The decor here includes tiki masks, wooden statues, and cool vintage paintings in a dim light setting. I personally enjoyed our bartender's fun witty humor while she was making our drinks. This is not some upscale fancy bar, but a great place to chill over good drinks and conversation with good music playing in the background. Bikini Lounge occasionally has a DJ and there is a pool table in the back. Heads up - the parking lot can be a little sketchy.

A fun start to our night began at the Bikini Lounge after a friend referred us to pay a visit. Mary really knows how to prepare great cocktails and how to take care of her guests! This dive bar establishment has been around since 1947, which makes it a must visit! Don't forget to bring cash...but there is an ATM in the bar just in case you forget!

Good drinks, fun bartenders, and nice location. Tiki themed. It was reasonably priced. Note that they're cash only!

The vibe is intimate and the staff was amazing. The food was good; my wagyu was cooked nicely but my wife's was a bit overdone. The peanuts pack some heat so they were a bit too spicy. Carry On actually called me to confirm our "tickets," which I thought was really cute. The whole experience kind of started a couple of days before our actual "departure time." They also reminded us to park in the Renaissance Square parking garage under Wren & Wolf, and they were able to validate our parking for three hours. We had to go to Wren & Wolf first to pick up our Carry On tickets. We got there early, and they let us relax in their couch area while we waited for our departure time. The walk from the Renaissance Square parking garage to Wren & Wolf was easy. You just follow the signs, and the whole walk is inside the building, which was perfect because it was so hot outside. While we were waiting, we could order drinks and chill, just like being in an airport lounge. When it was time for departure, we walked outside the building, and Carry On was right around the corner. You won't miss it because you'll see the Carry On Air flight schedule above the gate door. Right on time, we were greeted by a friendly flight attendant. Once we walked into the cabin, it really felt like we were inside a first-class flight lounge. Our flight attendant served us drinks right after we sat down, and we also ordered more cocktails and snacks from their menu. The captain spoke to us over the speaker, just like on a real flight. As we took off, we could even feel the seats moving. Looking out the "window," we saw buildings, clouds surrounding us, and even experienced turbulence I'm not going to tell you too much because I don't want to ruin the experience. I'll let you try it for yourself. I think it's definitely worth giving it a try. At least for us, we loved it.

We seated ourselves at a booth since it wasn't quite busy and that just means more room for our food and drinks to spread out *teehee* The cocktails were amazing my cousin ordered the espresso martini which she loved they make the espresso fresh. I went with a gin cocktail that had coconut flavors something I would never consider with gin but if you read my reviews you know gin is my preferred spirit. It was so good! For two people we ordered three types of empanadas we probably could have gotten away with two flavors and maybe a lighter tapa or desert but really wanted to try the cheese and guava empanada and didn't want that to be a main option in case we didn't like it. Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

Since then they have removed the plantain chips and still offer mashed plantains...and a very small serving. Since it was the middle of June it was already hot outside at a cool 105 degrees temperature. We were surprised to see the restaurant had the front door propped completely open letting the hot air into the restaurant. Since this is a small restaurant you really couldn't escape the heat. Main level/Upstairs vibe is well-lit with a true cantina bar feel. High-top tables, seats at the bar & happy hour from 4-7 pm make it ideal for some $7 drinks!!. The collection of Tequilas is GREAT. Many of which do not contain additives. I won't lie, I thought I was a big fan until I realized I didn't recognize a lot of the tequilas they had on hand. Downstairs is a whole different vibe. Custom craft cocktails, dim lighting with artwork, and more make it feel like an upscale NYC spot in your basement. I did 2 of my favorites, Paloma De Guayaba with the custom block name etched and the Baya Nueva. While in the Cantina, I had to order my friend the Basura (trash), but that wasn't the case... then again, it is served in a plastic bag, and is definitely a throwback to my early 20's of gettin' lit!!!! It was busy, but not packed, which made the service stand out more than it should have. I had to ask for water twice, never got a refill, and overall felt largely ignored--minimal eye contact, no real warmth, just an impersonal feel that didn't match the space. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.
