Mushroom, leek and kale quiche
Kelly K.

My visits are hit or miss here. I ordered the mushroom, leek and kale quiche. I was served a slice or quiche that was still cold on one side and warm on the other side. It had a whole bunch of tomatoes. I do not eat tomatoes. I found no mushrooms in my slice. All of the tomatoes leaked their juices into the quiche so that the quiche did not set properly and was very runny. I was very disappointed. I would have returned it had I not had two dogs in tow. You can see in the photo that it is running and has all of these unexpected tomatoes on top. I love their outdoor seating area and that they provide doggy bowls and water. Service is always good. Unfortunately, quality varies per item ordered. The quiche was 12 dollars a slice. Pricey especially considering what I was served.

Small grab and go storefront.

Stop by to try their almond croissant. They are really delicious and good! The croissant looks crusty but is actually light and crunchy on the bite. Generous, good ratio portion of almond filling to go with the croissant. I would love it even more if they make it stronger almond taste. Right now you can't quite taste the almond. The cranberry orange scone was good too.

Bacon quiche

Bijou Bakery is a great spot for a casual meet-up with friends. I had the bacon quiche and it was really tasty, flaky crust and flavorful filling that hit the spot. They have plenty of outdoor seating, which made it perfect for our group to catch up over coffee and pastries without feeling cramped. The service was great and they brought all of our orders out quickly.

Great little bakery. Got an almond danish, a coffee cake and they threw in a popover at no cost after I included a tip. All were delicious. Would come here again.

This bakery is a must see . Arrive early as I've been told they sell out ,and I can see why . The bakery itself is cozy and inviting. The staff are so warm and friendly. The outdoor seating area is spacious. A great place to enjoy your sweet treats. I had the hardest times deciding between the coffee cake or the strawberry scone . I picked the scone and was even given honey butter to put on top . The scone was fresh, soft, and flavorful with chunks of real strawberry.Truly a mouthwatering experience. I highly recommend Bujou Bakery when visiting Cayucos beach.

Best bakery!!! The ham and cheese croissant is the best I've ever had--crispy on the outside and perfectly filled on the inside. The strawberry scone is unbelievable, and the honey butter they pair with it makes it even better. Not to mention, they have excellent coffee and a cool outdoor seating area. Friendly staff, highly recommend.

Surprisingly small stall with a surprisingly large, and very quaint seating area.  The quiches were our favorite of the bunch of the breads here were fantastic as well. If you don't have time for a local restaurant or like eating something quick before starting your day instead, I would definitely recommend this place while staying in Cayucos/the surrounding area. Its a quick walk to the beach and antique stores.

I had to come in when I saw all the pictures of the popovers filled with pudding. Unfortunately, the popovers when I came did not have any filling in them but came with honey butter. The combo was good and I got some other baked items like a blueberry muffin, coffee cake, and crossiant. We ordered an americano and matcha tea latte to go. Overall, everything tasted okay, not great and not bad. If you're in the area, it's nice to get something but I wouldn't make the trip out here just for it. They have outdoor seating adjacent to the bakery that was very nice and accommodating to enjoy your items on the spot . We came with our 3 pups and the ladies were so sweet and gave them a treat. The service was great with prime location to the water.

I was excited to finally give them a try. The restaurant was such a cute spot, beautifully decorated, with the cutest items for sale. The menu offered a variety of options, including waffles, tacos, bowls, and smoothies. We arrived before they opened, so we went for a walk to kill some time. When we circled back, the line was about 20 people deep! Thankfully, it moved quickly, and there was plenty of seating both inside and on their back patio overlooking the beach. You place your order at the window, and the food is brought right to your table. I ordered the Classic Waffles, served with grass-fed butter, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. I also ordered the Plaskett Pork Taco, which featured scrambled eggs, Niman Ranch bacon ends, avocado, Hidden Kitchen sauce, and green salsa. Everything was delicious! The food was fresh and made to order. The waffles were a different color than your typical waffles because of the blue corn, but the flavor was spot-on. The Plaskett Pork Taco was served open-faced, with scrambled eggs on the bottom and all that delicious bacon, avocado, and sauce piled on top. Even the tortilla was made with blue corn as well. My friend ordered the Gorda Green Smoothie for us to share, and it was so refreshing and delicious. The serving was generous and definitely big enough to share. The glass was practically overflowing with goodness. The entire meal tasted fresh and clean. I didn't leave feeling weighed down by greasy or heavily processed food. I really appreciate the thought that goes into their ingredients, menu, and overall approach to serving organic, gluten-free options. The attention to detail was impressive, too. From the table numbers featuring a little quote on the bottom to the variety of salsas available to put on the side, every little touch added to the experience. They also have a self-serve water and coffee station, which is a nice bonus. Between the delicious blue corn waffles, flavorful taco, refreshing smoothie, and charming atmosphere, I'll be looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu items.

Pros: - Place is known for their creative savory and sweet…read morewaffles. To me and my group, the ultimate winner was actually the tacos! Made on homemade blue corn tortilla, it was light years ahead of the waffle. I recommend the Plaskett Pork as it has the most variety - Great selection of drinks for both coffee and non-coffee drinkers. There's a few morning cocktails as well (mimosa and bloody mary) - Great environment as it is by the ocean with a beach view. Really gets to the heart of what Cayucos is all about! Cons: - Open seating, so you could be in trouble if you can't find a table as there is no wait staff and only bus boys. - Not great for big groups as there is limited seating areas and they seem to run out of utensils at times - A bit on the pricer side given the lack of variety (if you don't like waffles or tacos then you will need to find a new place)! Overall, I would highly recommend HK to anyone who is passing through or staying in town. Great views and fantastic tacos made it worth while!

We weren't sure if we needed a reservation, so I called ahead and spoke with Marco, who was able to accommodate our group. When we arrived, we were seated immediately, and our server promptly brought us water and took our drink orders. We asked for recommendations, and our server was happy to share his thoughts on both the food and drinks. We all decided to try the Pineapple Basil Margarita. I don't typically order this type of cocktail, but since it was recommended, I decided to give it a try. While it wasn't my personal favorite, it had a nice pineapple flavor, and the basil didn't overpower the drink as I had worried it might. For appetizers, we ordered a few dishes to share: the homemade French baguette served with sea salt whipped butter and local olive oil, the lobster avocado egg rolls, and a Caesar salad. All three were fresh and delicious without feeling too heavy before our meal. The lobster avocado egg rolls were probably my favorite! They were paired with a delicious cilantro dipping sauce that complemented them perfectly. For our entrées, we were all in the mood for seafood, especially since we were visiting a beach town. We decided on the Shrimp & Clams Pancetta Fettuccine, and WOW, it was delicious! The dish had a generous amount of shrimp and clams, and the sauce was surprisingly light rather than thick and heavy, as I had anticipated. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was enjoyable. Beyond the food, Lunada has such a cozy, romantic atmosphere. The décor is charming, thoughtfully put together, and adds to the overall dining experience. From the welcoming service to the delicious food and inviting ambiance, Lunada was a wonderful place to enjoy dinner with friends. We were all pleased with our meals and would absolutely return! If you're visiting Cayucos and looking for a great spot for dinner, Lunada is definitely worth checking out.

There was a live band playing that added a cool and fun vibe. We sat on the upper patio with a beautiful view of the sunset. We all ordered cocktails, and I went with the Cadillac Margarita. Wow, it was strong! I probably should have sent it back and asked them to lighten it up, but I decided to drink it anyway. To start, we ordered the fried calamari to share, and it was delicious! It tasted fresh and had the perfect crispy texture. For my entrée, I ordered a cup of clam chowder and the sesame-crusted ahi. The clam chowder was fresh and had a generous amount of clams. The ahi salad was equally delicious. The ahi was perfectly seared, and the soy-ginger dressing added the perfect flavor to compliment the salad. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Schooners. Aside from the overly strong margarita, the food was great, and I'm glad I finally gave this spot a try. I'll definitely be back for more bites the next time I'm in the area.

We found a table downstairs in the bar as far away from the band as possible. We couldn't even hear each other to talk- other groups were saying the same thing We ordered the calamari appetizer and then the fish and chips for my husband and the seared ahi with wasabi mashed potatoes for me. Everything came out all at once- and no one ever came to check on us. The fish and chips were good, my ahi was nice- but the potatoes were cold and it was covered in seaweed salad I had to pick off. Later I was trying to remember why I ordered the ahi over the halibut or the mahi mahi- looking at the menu it says the ahi has blue crab wasabi mashed potatoes- so that's why I ordered it. I had shared my meal with my hubby and so I asked him if he noticed/tasted any crab on the potatoes. Neither of us did- thinking they left it out. The calamari should have been the appetizer- but everything came all at once- I would rather have skipped them at that point. Hubby had to go up to the bar to get refills- he was gone a long time. When he came back he told me that they had him leave a credit card with them when he placed the order. We weren't drinking alcohol, so this didn't seem necessary. Had I known this, I would have suggested not even staying and finding a different restaurant. Well the bartender said he lost our credit card/ but would try to find it.... um, what!!!! They did finally find it about 20 minutes later. No apologies or anything other than dumping the check at the end of the table. So far, we haven't found any rando charges on our card from our dinner here... but watch your cards here We walked from our hotel- so we didn't have to deal with parking- but it would have been hard over the holiday weekend We did have a nice view of the beach- even better view from upstairs

You do feel as though you are in an Italian restaurant but there is a lot going on with the decor, from multi colored walls to a plate wall and random photos all around. We learned she has worked there for 10 years and she obviously is good at what she does and must love it a whole bunch. She was on every detail with our table and many around us. It was a fairly busy night but manageable. We ordered several different things from the menu and about 3 different bottles of wine. All hard surfaces in a fairly small space meant that the any conversation anywhere added to a very high noise level even when the restaurant was only 2/3 full. And when people left towards the end of the night the musak was even worse, no clarity whatsoever just noise. It was difficult to carry on a normal conversation without leaning in to hear each other.
