As a customer the other day, I saw the most unsanitary, unhealthy, unsafe, unprofessionally managed & environmentally damaging business practices that I've EVER seen from an "establishment" such as this. I'll list the following reasons why:
I witnessed an employee open a door to a counter & saw what looked like rat turds (feces) on the shelves of the cabinet right next to dishes in which food is prepared/ kept. I even saw, with my own 2 eyes, a rat run out of the cabinet when the door was opened; thank God my wife didn't see it or our overly priced meal would have abruptly come to an end pretty darn quick.
The bags that contained the hamburger buns were chewed through by a rat because the bread products are merely kept in a plastic basket with no sealed top to prevent rats from getting into it overnight when the place is closed down. I witnessed employees pulling a bag of the hamburger buns out, looking at the hole in the bag, taking the buns out & after discussing, out loud, how they saw where the rat had chewed half of the roll off, threw the bun into another plastic bag hanging on a hook behind the bar (no idea why they were saving the bread & not throwing it in the trash can so that customers weren't served that rat infested bread.)
I noticed that there was only 1 way into the kitchen area & behind the bar, & only 1 way out; the same way. As a current safety official, this is a fire/ escape hazard!! All exits were sealed, locked tight & unusable which is against fire/ safety code; ILLEGAL & against the law!
I found out through an employee that the chicken salad is not even prepared on site where it should be; it is prepared at the "manager's" home. I think her name is tammy vance (she was no where to be found in the store, when I asked who/ where she was). The chicken salad is then brought into the business for sale to the customers; this is also against food safety and health regulations because her home isn't inspected by food inspectors; noone can see what kinds of filthy conditions that she may have occurring at her home while preparing the chicken salad....she could have cats climbing all over her kitchen counters, tracking feces everywhere they walk, as they come straight out of the litter box, then preparing chicken salad for customers to unsafely consume at this so-called food establishment, big mans store.
2 of the employees were speaking some kind of foreign language that could not be understood by us or other customers. We had to ask them to repeat themselves over & over again as they were terrible at speaking, misunderstood, & could hardly speak English, with very strong accents. One of the employees, the foreign girl that was kind of short,fat/ chubby, kept singing really loudly to herself.... some kind of crazy song....."Lalalalalalalalala", "lalalalalalalala"; it was truly annoying and made us seriously begin to think that the owner had hired "special" people with autism or downs syndrome to work there. We were so annoyed that we didn't even finish our food, (especially after seeing the rat jet out from the cabinet when it was opened & run across the kitchen floor). We were disgusted, thoroughly annoyed, & left abruptly since the 2 foreign employees were acting strange & medically incapable of controlling themselves and their actions (kind of acting 'tarded). We did not leave a tip, when asked at the cash register by the cashier, because of our annoying, unsanitary, unhealthy experience while there in big mans. The cashier was rude as heck and smirked when I said, "No, I wasn't leaving a tip for the cook or anybody else for that matter after that almost horrific experience!" The food is way over-priced anyways & seems like the owner, (I think his name was duane shealy; he was also no where to be found), is price gouging customers to death with the highest prices/ products on Lake Murray when buying anything from there, gas included, at $5.10 a gallon.
I went out to put gas in my boat & saw gasoline/ fuel leaking into lake murray....no wonder the fish don't bite/ are hard to catch; they have probably all died from the chemicals being allowed to drain into the lake by this so-called "business".
The aisles in the store were blocked with boxes; not enough room to safely maneuver around the store, especially with the number of other customers in the store. The cash register line wrapped around 2 aisles and went down past the beer coolers; this has to be some kind of fire hazard; I even felt uneasy just knowing that if a hazard did occur, there would be people in danger, as this store was beyond maximum capacity. VERY UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT!
OH MY GOD; Expired products on the shelves & in the coolers; orange juice that had turned a dark brown with dates on the bottles from back in the year 2019, apple juice in the cooler with dates on the bottle from 2019/2020. The Nutter butter snacks in front of the door had the price tags "conveniently" placed over the expired dates from 2021. (tbc) read more
