Driving along I-77 and needing something quick for lunch. Despite my negative review from four years ago, I thought I might give them another try. Upgrading from two stars to four. This Wendy's has been refreshed a bit. It's still part of the Pilot truck stop but they now accept orders through the Wendy's app. This was good because there was a queue and I was able to "skip" it by ordering our lunch with the Wendy's app. The food did not take long at all. Mrs. K. had her baked potato and I had my "Biggie Bag." Everything was assembled properly. Fries were not, nuggets were not and they neglected to put the dipping sauce in the bag. They've also not upgraded their soda fountain from a regular Coke with five choices to the modern Freestyle machine. Other than that, it was fine. Live nearby, go often. I can't complain about the food because mine has always been good. On the other hand when ordering UNSWEETEN tea at the drive through, on SEVERAL occasions I have asked and gotten sweet. When I told them I ordered UNSWEET they told me it WAS unsweet. Instead of wasting my time, I threw it out. When dining in, the UNSWEET has been UNSWEET! Go figure!! There also needs to see smiling faces every now and then. That very seldom happens. We stopped here despite the 2.5 star rating. I feel like a lot of people have super high expectations without considering the source.... It's a gas station truck stop restaurant, it's not going to be five star service. It was lunch time when we stopped in so it was pretty busy both inside and in the drive through. It's in a Flying J Truckstop but it's really big and nice inside with a few TVs. The nice part is you can get a burger and gas in the same trip plus a diary Queen is right next door in the same building. The store was clean and the counter people did a great job. read more

The health department should shut this Wendy's down immediately -- if Wendy's corporate doesn't shut it down first. It is literally one of the most unclean, unsanitary and disgusting food service establishments I have been to in North America. I have been to worse places, but only in the third world. We stopped here on the way south on interstate 95 -- because of the opportunity to stop simultaneously at DQ and Wendys. The lines were long, the service terrible, but the conditions of the restaurant were completely disgusting. I should have known on the way in, where the trash cans were literally overflowing with garbage. Inside, the place was unclean, garbage littered the floors. But worst of all was the bathroom. You enter a place where toilet paper pieces are literally strewn about on the floor. One of the 3 or 4 urinals did not work, while the others did not flush entirely. So a flushed urinal just had a bunch of diluted urine in it. Wash your hands? One of the sinks was just totally broken and did not work, while the other pumped out scalding water. The soap dispenser was up at about 5 feet so you were getting soap at eye-level, and it didn't squirt out straight so watch because you might get handsoap in your eyes. And god forbid if you had to use a toilet. They were filthy, disgraceful, had not been cleaned, feces literally on walls, urine on floors, piles of toilet paper on the floor. It was a complete disgusting nightmare. I say again, the Dorchester County health department should shut this place down immediately, or Wendy's corporate. This was not a problem with the cleaning guy missing his shift. This is a management problem, period, proven by the broken urinals, broken sinks etc. People should be fired, fined, or maybe even go to jail. Years ago, someone told me that you knew the cleanliness of a kitchen by the cleanliness of the bathrooms -- because the same people in charge of cleaning the kitchen are in charge of cleaning the bathroom. When I visited this Wendy's, the service was pretty slow. I actually thought that they'd get my order wrong, but they surprisingly didn't! The burgers were very good and the buns were fresh. Our chili containers weren't as full as we believed they should have been. That being said, we ordered a baked potato, and two chilis... (08/08/2012) The food meets expectations from a Wendy's, and when we got ours it was hot and we were starving. Specifically to this location, they forgot a sandwich out of a 2 sandwich order (luckily we hadn't left the lot yet). It bears mentioning that the entrance exit and access points to the strip of businesses at this location (gas stop/convenience store/Wendy's) is laid out so that all the incoming and outgoing traffic, passenger cars and 18-wheelers trying to get to the truck stop behind the strip, cross each other with no markings about direction or general guidance. Driving-wise, it's a disaster waiting to happen. If you can wait for the next Wendy's (maybe in Walterboro), might be the better option. read more

I would rate 0 stars if I could. So we entered the very crowded restraunt, granted it was the Sunday after thanksgiving break, there were about 8-10 parties of people there. I will tell you right now that the staff was totally hungover. So everything was a mess; there was no clean tables, 4 ketchup packets, no ice in the machine, and the bathroom is a total train wreck. Amyways, so after we ordered our meal we waited approximately 25 mins to get our food. Sadly that was not our liberation from that trash heap, because they gave us someone other person's order. Then we waited maybe 5 mins asking the people to fix our order. We looked at these hungover workers asking for our meal, then my mom yells for one of them to help and finally we get our food. Datra was the person on the drive thru according to the receipt and she was so rude. She was yelling in the speaker "wait a minute" and "I said wait" at my father in law who is a little hard of hearing. The tone in her voice was so rude. So when we got our food he tried to tell her that she needed to calm down and be more polite. She said we are busy and slammed the window closed then walked away so we sat there. when she came back and he asked for the manage she ignored him and closed the window again so we continued to sit there. The manage finally decided to address us with just as much of an attitude and gave a half-sincere apology just to get us out of the way. I don't expect the best experience every time i go to a fast food restaurant but this was the worst experience I have ever had at any establishment. After we drove away we discovered that she did not ring the order in correctly so we were shorted on our food.
