We were looking for food since we stopped at a hotel across the street in this small town. Very easy access off 95. We tried to go to McDonald's because we were tired and wanted something quick but they were closed. When we pulled into the parking lot of Waffle House the young male employee was so welcoming waving us to come inside. He then held the door for us to walk into the restaurant. Very polite and nice guy I'm sad I didn't catch his name. The food was great and cooked by the very nice gentleman who took our order and held the door for us! He seasoned it perfectly unlike any other Waffle House I've been too. Bathrooms were very clean. We just left and service was horrible! There where only two other tables when we sat down, a cook and a waiter. No one spoke when we walked in, we sat there for 20 minutes before the waiter (he never told us his name or said hi), never said I will be with you in a minute or can I get you a drink while you wait...nothing! Finally walks over says where could hardly hear him (never even smiled) said "You ready to order?", no pleasantness in his voice at all. We gave our order, and I wanted a coffee and my husband a milk with the meal...my husband got his milk and we got food before I ever got my coffee. Never again! This was my worst experience ever for a Waffle House. I stopped in on December 22 during an overnight stay on my way to Florida. I walked in and the staff never acknowledged my presence. The place is rather small and the staff seemed confused on how to process orders. They were taking numerous take out orders, but not properly taking care of customers in the restaurant. After waiting about 10 minutes, I asked the staff if they could take my order. The manager said they were busy. I asked how long before they could take my order, and she said, "about 20 minutes." Remember, the place was very small. They served about 4 takeout orders over the 20 minute timeframe. After 20 minutes, I asked again if they could take my order. At that point, the manager got very irate with me and advised if I was unhappy with their service, I could leave. As the customers nearby looked at each other amazed, I reiterated that all I wanted to do was place an order. She reiterated that, "You can just leave!" At that point, I stepped outside and called Waffle House corporate headquarters from outside the restaurant. I explained what had happened and gave them the manager's name. Naturally, they were initially in disbelief that this could have happened the way I described. I explained that the incident happened "exactly" as described. I never raised my voice, maintained courtesy, and kept a sharp eye on elapsed time and responses. I even noted that, when she wasn't placing orders, the manager engaged in busy work, moving supplies from the back and tidying up the place while I waited. The corporate headquarters apologized and assured me they would address the issue. They also provided a $10.00 coupon, but I haven't been able to go into a Waffle since the incident. In fairness, I think this was an isolated incident, but think the St. George Waffle House has some house cleaning to do if they can find someone capable of running the business as intended. The fact that the manager was bold enough to make such a move spoke volumes about the problems associated with this particular establishment. From the servers to the cooks, they all have a good vibe and are always nice to the people who come in at anytime of the day or night. Also, the food was great from the pancakes to eggs, they all were delicious to eat. Lastly, the location and size of the waffle house might look under grading but the inside feels bigger and doesn't feel tight also all items used to plates to seats, it was all very clean and looked very nice read more

We stopped here because plan A fell through. We walk up to the door to see all the employees except for 2 hanging out with their "homies". They proceed to stare at us and whisper and carry on. We felt uncomfortable and sat all the way on the other side of the restaurant. One of the two employees that weren't hanging out came to give us our drinks and take our orders. The other turned out to be the cook. However the other 2-3 employees proceed to laugh loudly, curse and carry on like they had not been raised properly. They were extremely rude and kept spewing profanity and vulgar words. I have to say this will be the last time we ever stop here. The food was Ok everything was WELL cooked. The waffle was Ok and so was the toast. The bacon and hashbrowns were burnt. The chilli was like water... it was ok... We often stop at Waffle House when we road trip. I have to have my hash browns. Our waitress, Gabriele, was excellent. She was very helpful and attentive and it was clear she wanted us to enjoy our meal. We had breakfast here this past Thursday. There only a few customers there. The first table we went to was sticky. It appeared that the dishes had been removed, but hadn't been wiped. The next, thank goodness I looked before sitting, as it had a big puddle of water on the bench. We opted to sit at the counter. It too was sticky & appeared unkept. We could easily see food remnants. While waiting for breakfast, we started to notice the overall lack of cleanliness. The stainless steel above the soda & back counter area had a thick layer of black dust. A big piece of dust actually fell beside me onto the counter. The grill looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Now for the food. Our scrambled eggs were under & over cooked. They were still too wet, with brown crunchy portions. Eggs aren't supposed to be crunchy. The sausage had black burnt pieces from something that had been previously been cooked on the grill. The hash browns were ok, but they didn't make up for the rest of the food on the plate. We got the wrong toast. It was barely toasted, then slathered in butter. It drooped when it was picked up. We travel for a living & if there is a Waffle House in the area, that's where we eat. This was the nastiest Waffle House property & worst WH meal that we have ever had.
