Not very much options around the airport in the early morning so decided to give Big Boy a shot because it had an Old School flare about it, plus the large "Big Boy" character outside was appealing. We also wanted to try something we wouldn't frequent very often coming from the PNW. I can say we probably will not be going back. The food came out mildly warm. You could tell that they had been sitting on the warmer for a while. The bread was wrong and came out soggy. The waffles was burned and so bad there was no way I could finish it. How do you burn waffles? Server was not very helpful either. When she came by the table to ask how everything was I let her know I was unhappy she never apologized of offered to put in a new order. Her knowledge of the menu items, patience, and recommendations provided a great customer experience for my family and me. The bread on my patty melt was soggy as if it had been dunked in a bucket of water. There were enough onions on there for a pot of onion soup. The fries were way undercooked and soggy as well. As a bonus, they put three wet pickles on top of my sandwich. The pickle juice combined with the already wey/soggy bun made it almost impossible to eat. I tried, but I'm not a big fan of eating soggy/wet food. Overall very disappointed. Big Boy sure isn't what it used to be just a few years ago. I'm not even sure that the varmints that go through the dumpster will enjoy this food. If I wanted the food prepared by a toddler, I would have gone to McDonald's right across the street. read more

Our service was pleasant. Sherrie, our server was a sweetheart. She refilled our drinks and fulfilled every request we had of her. Her demeanor was polite and she made my family feel welcomed in the establishment. The company is lucky to have an employee like her. However, I cannot get over seeing another server, named Kim dip her fingers in a desert, lick her fingers then proceed to serve the desert to another paying customer. The set up of the restaurant made it so that we could see what was going on in the back. It's very concerning that an employee thought this behavior was acceptable, and continued to serve the desert to the customer. This is one old eatery. Gets credit for being fairly clean. I ordered Big Boy's version of four-cheese mac and cheese that appeared and tasted like Velveeta topped with a bit of crumbled bacon. It was lukewarm so I asked the waitress to please get it microwaved. She kindly did and stood by to make sure it was hot enough, noting the only way to know for sure would be if she put her finger in it and she didn't want to do that. Yikes, did I really need to hear that? I've had much better mac and cheese out of a box or in an inexpensive frozen meal in the up to $1 price range. It cost abot $8.95 and was not worth it. Okay - it's a Big Boy..... but it's a darn good Big Boy. Best service I have enjoyed (and I did indeed enjoyed it) in a long time. Great wait staff. My husband and I try to go to Big Boy when we travel to Michigan to visit family. This was our first time at this location. (Visited Aug/2013) It was just down the street from our hotel saving us time, which is always nice. Compared to other Big Boy locations, this one was just OK. The staff was friendly, we were seated in a comfortable area. The table and floor was messy not a big deal to us), but the food was disappointing. This place was just lower quality than the other Big Boys we're familiar with. There was just too much grease and oil in the food. Great staff, just need better cooks. read more

We have 2 Big Boys near us that we have visited quite often. It has been my young daughter's favorite restaurant. Now, about a month ago Big Boy came out with a new menu removing my wife's favorite burger (brawney lad), and raised the price of my favorite item (spaghetti) from $9 to $13.95. I would much rather go to Olive Garden and get all I can eat salad, breadsticks with my plate of spaghetti for just $10. So I don't think we will be visiting Big Boy as often as we used to. read more

Nice people, but my food was horrible. Everyone else at the table said theirs was just OK... Waited for a while, but then when the food showed up, you could tell the bacon was precooked. The biscuits were cold, the sausage was cooked to the point of dry. Just not good. read more

So my company puts me up in a hotel that's close to this Big Boy restaurant every time I'm in town for business. I walk down there pretty much every day for lunch when I'm staying at the hotel. I enjoy going there because, the people are great, the service is friendly and the food is always good. They have an excellent salad bar with 5 different homemade soups every day! You can get an all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar for around $7. Also, they have a mini banana split for a $1.50! And let me just say, the mini banana split if anything but mini! I have never ordered the full size but I can only imagine! The waitresses always remember exactly what I order and bring me my diet coke before even coming to say hello. I love the personalized service, and that they always remember where I work and what I do, and they always remember my order. It makes me feel like a VIP! The waitresses are your run-of-the-mill down home girls, working at the diner. This is a great place to view the locals. On a Sunday afternoon, you can always get the local scoop from the old men who are always sitting around talking about what's on the front page of the paper. the whole place just has that good homey feel to it! don't expect anything fancy, and you won't be disappointed! read more

Terrible strawberry pie. Every year for my birthday I request a strawberry pie. This year was no different. My husband went to the Merriman location Sunday to buy a pie. He waited for one to be made and was even given the whip cream to go with it. That evening we cut into the pie and every berry in it was moldy and rotten. No exaggeration. Not wanting to ruin the family gathering, we brushed it aside and had something else for dessert. This however is just not acceptable. Never again will we go there for another pie. A pie the feature and you expect to be delicious. A pie my husband waited to be made fresh he thought. We did not return to the restaurant as it is out of our way but, just wanted others to know how gross and possibly sickening this pie was. read more

I was very satisfied with this place. Service went well. I was served coffee by a couple different waitresses who were all polite. My coffee never got under half a cup! Came here because it was close to our hotel. It was 11:30 in the morning and there were just two of us. Wait staff was cordial but not friendly. We both ordered breakfast but it took 45 minutes to get our food. The atmosphere is sort of old diner-ish and the food was decent at best. Manager was friendly and apologetic for our wait, but even a few small changes could have made our visit a lot better. Good spot in a pinch, but wouldn't recommend to my friends. read more

Came here because they have a salad bar. I ordered their signature burger, with the soup and salad bar. First off, I was greeted and seated in SECONDS. Server magically appeared also in seconds brought my drink and took my order. Before I could take a bite of my salad I had crafted, my burger was DONE! What a great experience! I use to like this place, but it has gone down hill. The floors dirty. Very few items on the menu are healthy unless you want salad. Everything but the meatloaf is fried, or comes with fries. The breakfast items are okay. The salad/soup bar is okay too, but options are limited. The couple near me got a burger and it had so much mustard on it, it fell apart on her plate. I could see the mustard from my table. If you want good ole' home cookin' go to Bob Evans across the street. read more

This has to be one of the worst Big Boys around. Went for lunch today. Was not busy at all. There was hardly anything on the salad bar, except lettuce and a few pasta salads. All the soups were empty and no one bothered to fill anything up again. The waitess was nice and the rest of the food was served fast. The person working the cash register just sat back in the little room and didn't look up so finally we had to say "hello" so we could out of there and back to work. read more

We use to frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis, but overtime the restaurant has gone downhill. I'm pretty sure this was our last visit. We were seated right away, and our drink order taken. PART of the drink was served up right away. It was a full 15 minutes before the rest of the drink order was delivered. About the time we had decided to leave and go to the Bob Evans across the street, someone came and took our order. At that point we had already been there for almost 30 minutes. When the food was delivered, it came out in 2 waves.....10 minutes apart. So part of our group was almost finished eating before the rest were served. NEVER again. read more

Worst place ever!! Ordered bfast was supposed to come with 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pieces of sausage.. ordered all bacon.when we got the meal. I got 1 piece of bacon broken in half and fried to a crisp.. called the waitress over said I'm sorry I was supposed to get 4 pieces of bacon and asked for new bacon that I could actually bite without chipping a tooth.. she came back and says the cook says it only comes with 2 pieces of meat.. had to pull the menu up on my phone to show her it came with 4 pieces of meat.. she took my plate with the eggs and bacon. When she brought it back with all my bacon she brought me back my same eggs which were then cold.. shouldn't the cook know the menu?? And really I had to pull up the menu on my phone to show the waitress?? Should've known from previous reviews this wouldn't be a pleasant experience. When we got there, it was awkward, trying to get someone to recognize us. We were finally shown to a table then ignored again. At 5:00 PM only five tables were occupied. The attitude of the staff must reflect that of the management, which must be very negative in this place, because no one was cordial, our server did the very least she could get away with and still be called a "server," and several employees were busy serving themselves. I had the soup and salad bar which consisted of iceberg lettuce and expected run of the mill veggies, and about six bowls of pasta salad that all looked the same. I skipped the soup. I AM giving two stars because we also ordered a Slim Jim and I was told it was good. our server finally slapped our check on the table and we were glad to get out of there, but were delayed checking out while we waited for a customer ahead of us getting his take-out order corrected. read more
