Sadly, I didn't really like the chicken, and even though it was dark meat, it was dry. There were also plenty of sides, salad, and veggies. The sweet potatoes were pretty soggy by the time we enjoyed them, unfortunately. However, the mashed potatoes were crazy buttery which meant it was crazy good. I'm…read morea massive fan of Korean fried chicken when done well but it's also becoming a saturated market with a lot of places not doing justice. With tempered expectations, I ordered my first 8 piece, opting to try the wings in their most basic form: the golden original bone-in wings. This comes with no seasoning or sauce, just a crispy exterior. Immediately on my first bite I knew the exterior texture of these wings was on point. Light but crunchy, not overly-oily and quite frankly an addicting crisp. The internal chicken was juicy and succulent as advertised, though I'll note I had to spit out a little more cartilage than I would ideally like from a bone-in wing. It's just a little harder with heavily breaded wings to tell what is edible meat and what is cartilage. Though unseasoned and un-sauced, the golden original was totally satisfying on its own and the flavor of the chicken and its delectable texture was more than sufficient. This first experience was positive enough to warrant a return visit, so the next time around I ordered the "Bboom" chicken, another 8 piece. There is no shortage of the seasoning powder on this one, and upon first bite all I could say was "wow"-- I was hooked. My favorite foods have a sweet and savory balance and that ratio is perfectly dialed in here in my opinion. Though advertised as a cheesy flavor, I got more of a sweet/savory butter note-- that flavor seriously fails to get old to me. The same delicate crisp of the golden original was present here, but I'll note the same small issue with cartilage here as well. On my most recent-- and what will definitely not be my last--visit, I wanted to try the "full chicken" to see how the consistency varies across different- sized chicken pieces. I went with the honey garlic and enjoyed the sauce. Despite being a wet sauce while the others I tried are dry powder rubs, this doesn't hamper the crispy exterior. I will say that I found some of the bigger chicken pieces a little internally dry in the full chicken. The last variety I tried was the "cheesling" which I found pretty similar to the Bboom, though sweeter and less savory. Because it was a little more dominantly sweet, I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the Bboom but it was still enjoyable. I would give this experience a solid 8/10 overall, my few notes of light critique being: -The prices are a little high, though not outrageous to me. 14.95 for 8 wings seemed ludicrous to me at first but these are sizable and filling and to me a bit elevated in quality compared to the biggest fast food chain wing options. -The aforementioned cartilage issues. -These wings, even the pain golden original, can be a bit heavy on the stomach. It's not something I can eat super often despite the craving I've developed for it. I wasn't particularly hungry :) since I had eaten breakfast not too long before, but as someone who believes in never skipping a meal, I picked up my spoon and chopsticks anyway. Well... my chopsticks got lost along the way. The six side dishes (banchan) completely stole my attention. Every single one tasted like something my grandmother would have lovingly prepared years ago. They were comforting, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The spicy cod stew, grilled mackerel and a spicy squid stone pot bibimbap were outstanding. Especially the cod was so fresh and thick that I found myself wondering, "Is this really cod?" The flaky white fish was incredibly tender, the shrimp, and other ingredients just as fresh. The spicy squid pot bibimbap was perhaps the best of all! I jokingly asked if they had a reservoir hidden behind the restaurant because everything tasted like it had just been caught that morning! Of course, great food is the most important thing, but I truly believe the warm smiles from the staff and the spotless dining environment made the meal even more enjoyable. KBBQ is one of those rare places where excellent food and genuine hospitality come together. After refilling it, he went to hand the cup back to me, but the cup hit the counter and the pop went flying forward toward me. I tried to step back, but not quickly enough, and I ended up getting pop on me. I completely understand that accidents happen. What was frustrating was the employee's response afterward. The only thing he said was, "Did I get you?" There was no apology or even a simple "I'm sorry." I was standing there with pop on me, and I honestly felt like the situation was just brushed off. At that point, I decided to walk out because I didn't want to make a scene. I wasn't expecting anything unreasonable. Accidents happen, and I would have completely understood if he had simply apologized and acknowledged what happened. It's disappointing because my husband and I genuinely enjoyed our dinner. A simple apology would have gone a long way and probably would have left us walking out with a completely different impression of our experience. Hopefully management can use this as a reminder that accidents are going to happen, but how you handle them afterward matters just as much.
