The individual at the counter was very friendly and gave me recommendations after telling him it was my first time. I love buffalo wings, and he recommended the smash burger. Food wise, it's not bad, but it's not great. I personally prefer my wings to have the crispy skin exterior where theirs is made with what seems to just be the chicken+sauce. Reviewing a spot like this is interesting since for me personally I take into account how much I paid for the meal compared to how good it is. For this burger and 6 wings, the total came out to be $24.68. If this meal somehow could be closer to something like $15-$20, I'd probably give it four stars and return some day. I've been seeing videos of Meetches Wings and Things all over Instagram for a while now. Funnily enough, my cousin had even sent me this place before, so it had been on my radar for some time. One Saturday, I happened to be hanging out with that same cousin when we started getting hungry. I was open to just about anything, but naturally, my mind went to wings. This is a cousin I've traveled around the country with trying different wing spots, so it only made sense that we'd consider another one. We went back and forth between a few options before finally landing on Meetches. I guess you could say it was about time. The restaurant was only about 30 minutes away, so the drive wasn't bad at all. We were both curious about the place, especially knowing they fry their food in beef tallow. Walking in, the food smelled great, which only made us more excited to eat. After looking over the menu, my cousin went with a smash burger and 10 boneless lemon pepper wings. He was actually more excited about trying the burger, while I already knew what I wanted. I ordered 18 wings split between lemon pepper, honey BBQ, and Buffalo. Once the wings arrived, the first thing I noticed was how crispy they looked. After taking that first bite, they definitely delivered. The exterior had a satisfying crunch, while the chicken inside was juicy and tender. One thing I found interesting was the taste from the beef tallow. It's a little difficult to describe, but there's a noticeable difference compared to the fried flavor I'm normally used to. It doesn't completely change the wings, but it adds something different that I enjoyed. I started with the lemon pepper, and these had a great crunch with every bite. You could actually hear the crispiness as you bit into them. They were generously coated in seasoning, giving them plenty of flavor without needing any sauce. The honey BBQ were just as enjoyable, with a savory BBQ flavor and a hint of honey that came through afterward. The sweetness was noticeable without overpowering the sauce. Finally, the Buffalo had that familiar tangy, slightly buttery flavor I always enjoy. Even with the sauces coating them, both the honey BBQ and Buffalo maintained their crispiness, which I appreciated. Honestly, I couldn't pick a favorite. All three were good in their own way. My cousin really enjoyed his smash burger as well, so we both left satisfied with our choices. Overall, these were definitely better than your average wings. Nothing overly complicated, just well-cooked chicken with good flavor and a slightly different taste thanks to the beef tallow. I'm glad we finally made our way out to Meetches, and I'd happily return. With the variety they have on the menu, I can easily see myself bringing some of my other cousins here. The Korean bbq sauce was spiced and flavored perfectly with enough sauce to dip the crispiest French fries in and the smash burger was wonderful. Lacey and crispy. I had the Meetches peaches for dessert which was like peach cobbler. It was a bit non descript when it to it being peach or apple. However, it wouldn't keep me from coming back. The onion tanglers melted in my mouth. The smash burger was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The wings left a little to be desired in size and price, but the sauces they came in were delicious. Extremely hungry boyfriend ordered a 2nd burger (We split the 1st one!) and that one's patty was not as crispy and it was loaded with too many onions. Wings were very good, better than Birds Nest but Franks for the Memories in Mundelein is still the best. Teriyaki sauce was good however there was lots of sesame seed as an added sprinkle. Hot sauce was prefect heat - flavorful but not can't feel my tongue hot. Seasoned fries were delicious. Not sure if they have unseasoned fries. Gyros has potential - tzatziki sauce was good had some paprika sprinkled on top, pita a little over toasted, and gyros meat had good flavor but I got the dried - over cooked crusty outside. The portions are quite generous - especially the sides - so it's easy to share with one or more other people. I got chicken skewers with a side of fries that came with Pita & two grilled lemon wedges. The food was cooked well. The chicken was glazed in a honey mustard sauce that had a decent amount of kick to it. Definitely not spicy but flavorful. The portions were large for the price of the food. I spent Just shy of $20. All the food had a ton of flavor. I got my food very quickly. They take the extra step of bagging your food to keep it warm on your drive home.. so bonus points for that. Only disappointment was Blue Cheese dressing was $1.00 extra, and the cup was only about 1/2 full. I know if I had asked, they probably would have given me more, but I used it sparingly. My wife and I dined in here a few weeks ago. Local social media raved about the smash burger so that's what we went with. Two smash burgers one with fries the other with onion tanglers. Onion tanglers are good but the fries are fantastic. The smash burger was bangin as the kids say. Forget the chicken these burgers are delicious. We both got fountain drinks which were mediocre. Second trip I got the chick stix and my wife got the char dog. The chick stix were decent but I would do without the sauce (maybe on the side). It wasn't bad but it has lemon in it which I'm not a fan of. My wife said she could eat two of the char dogs and it beat someone else down the street. Once again onion tanglers were decent but fries were delicious. Fountain drinks remained the same but one of the drinks was completely out. Seating is a bit awkward but all in all I will be back for the smash burger (at a minimum) without hesitation. I will try the wings if I know I can get sauce on the side. I definitely would not be recommending the wings- the chicken wings (chimichurri, jerk and mango habenero sauce) was below par. The mango habenero sauce had flavor but I wish the chicken had some seasoning. It was as if the chicken wings were deep fried and covered in sauce. I ordered the smashburger: a thin double patty. It was VERY peppery, definitely too much pepper for my tastes. The bun (Martin's potato roll) and thin strips of onions great; special sauce was flavorful but I would get on the side next time as it makes the bun a bit soggy. The burger: initially a good taste, but then I found it too be too charred & too much pepper for my tastes. Even with the 15-20 min delay until actually eating the food, everything tasted amazing and had so much flavor! Everyone that was a part of my order agreed as well!!
