Picking up the best Thanksgiving sides!
    Alyssa G.

I have enjoyed Blackwood BBQs party platters for family gatherings over the years and decided they might make a nice addition to Thanksgiving 2025. I ordered a small container of Brussels sprouts and a large of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was as good as usual--crunchy, cheesy, and the pasta was cooked well. The sprouts disappointed the family this time as there were a lot of stems included. +The instructions were very clear on how to heat the food the next day (Thanksgiving) -Even though I prepaid and picked a specific pick up time, I still had to wait in line +The gentleman who gave me my order included serving utensils which was a help by the time I got to my grandma's house My mentality when visiting repeat restaurants is "If this was my first time, would I go back?" and if that was the first time I ate the Brussels sprouts, I wouldn't order them again.

The food tasted OK... I spent $15 plus tip 5 PM on a work night and the place is kinda empty. But it appeared to be very clean and has a cool ambience. The employees are nice, but they were busy talking to each other If I had no other places to go to, I would definitely come back here however, with everything I put in my review, I will keep my eyes and ears open for a different place. They really are not a lot of places in my area that serve barbecue that I know of the least

This is the FAT. From one brisket sandwich. I have never had that much slimy inedible fat. Disgusting. Oh well. Never going back.

Gary fat fat. One brisket sandwich ugh. Disgusting. it of burnt ends again. Disappointing. Not going back.

Ribs and Side, Elotes, Smoked Beans, Onion Rings, Cornbread, Texas Toast
    Lily D.

Took my dad here for Father's Day, and for it being a Midwest bbq spot in a heavily urban area, it was very good! We got an assortment of things; Elote, beans, ribs, conbread, and onion rings. The sweet tea was so good and the ribs were moist and not fatty. The Elote was creamy and not spicy, cornbread (which I normally hate) was sweet and moist! The onion rings were big and not greasy with an incredibly breading. For the weather being hot and sunny, the inside really wasn't as steamy as you would expect for an open grill restaurant. The beans were good and sweet. We will be returning! We got our food relatively fast, considering it was so busy for Father's Day. With it being so busy, the quality did not lack in the slightest. You order at a kiosk yourself, but you can talk to a physical cashier if you prefer.

    Chips and Queso

It was not the greatest BBQ spot I've tried. The interior design is cute; however, the food was not great. We got the chips and Queso with the meats and two sides (half ribs and pulled pork with mac n cheese and fries). The pulled pork was good, but the ribs were so disappointing. It was tough and didn't fall off the bone. The sides were disappointing, especially the mac n cheese; it lacked flavor. The Queso, on the other hand, was delicious and flavorful. Pricing is reasonable for BBQ.

I was looking for BBQ in Schaumburg and chose Blackwood for one reason: fresh-brewed sweet tea! And it did not disappoint as it made this Bama Boy smile with its sweetness. I went with the solo sampler with my entree. It came with pulled pork, brisket, and smoked chicken. Every meat was juicy and very enjoyable. I would come back for the sweet tea and the meat. But Blackwood is part of a disturbing trend I am seeing in BBQ joints. That trend is giving a meat sampler with a side of slaw and maybe some bread for around $20. Really?! I have eaten a lot of BBQ in my life and have been to many where I can get 2- 3 meats, 2 sides (and choose them), and a sweet tea for $20. They could at least let you choose the one side instead of giving one of the least desirable sides in slaw. I shelled out an extra $4 for an amazing Mac and cheese. All the sauces were amazing! All 6 are on the table and they are NC Vinegar, South Carolina Mustard, Alabama Roll Tide White, Memphis, Kansas City, and Chicago. I would return to Blackwood because the BBQ and sauces were delicious, the menu is diverse, and it's hard to find fresh-brewed sweet tea as good as Blackwood makes.

Shared the sample platter. What a great selection of delicious Barbeque! Pulled pork and chicken, sausage, Alabama chicken, brisket, and your choice of 3 sides, 2 cornbreads, white bread pickles, and pickled onions. You get your choice of 3 additional sides too! Their Texas bbq is delicious! It's a casual BBQ restaurant. Great for date night, family night, or with friends. Try a few different sauces, they are great!

Good times at @blackwoodbbq in Schaumburg! We had a wonderful BBQ meal here! We recently visited @blackwoodbbq and ordered the Sample Test that feeds 2-3. It comes with brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, sausage, Alabama chicken, and your choice of 3 sides, 2 cornbreads, white bread pickles, and pickled onions. We chose charred Brussels w/Maple, elites, and coleslaw for our sides. What a great smoky Barbeque flavor! You can try your choice of six great sauces: Sweet, Memphis Spicy, Kansas City Sweet and spicy, Chicago mustard, South Carolina vinegar, North Carolina white sauce, Alabama Our favorites were sweet and spicy Chicago and white sauce Alabama. Such a fabulous selection of quality BBQ food! Not only do they have great food, but @blackwoodbbq will fund a meal for a child living in poverty for each meal that you purchase.

    Pulled chicken farro bowl

My boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich a couple weeks ago and insisted on taking me back there to give it a try. I am not much of a meat eater, but I had the pulled chicken farro bowl. It was delicious! So many great flavors with the sweet potatoes, collard greens and carrots. The spicy barbecue sauce is delicious! You also have to try the cornbread. my boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich again on the brioche bun and a side of fries. The seasoned fries were delicious and the small size was more than enough for both of us to share. The people working were super friendly and it was very clean. We will definitely be back!

If you're a beer drinker, they have a massive selection on tap (about 90 taps--and no, that's not a typo!). They also have a large patio that looks like a great spot when the weather is nice. Inside, there's a good mix of low-tops, high-tops, banquettes, and booths. All the tabletops feature copper tops with wood trim, and exposure to water and food over time has given each table a unique patina. We arrived right as they were switching over from the brunch menu to dinner, and the staff made us feel very welcome. What We Ordered: Smoked Brisket Reuben Eggrolls: We ordered these special eggrolls for the table. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and since many traditional eggrolls contain shrimp, he was excited to try these. He said they were the best eggrolls he's ever had (though he admitted he doesn't eat them often!). He paired it with a Guinness Zero non-alcoholic draught and was amazed by how close it tasted to the original. Fish Tacos ($19): Recommended by another reviewer, these come with three cornmeal-battered, fried Mahi-Mahi tacos topped with cilantro lime cream and fresh micro cilantro. They were crispy and very tasty. If you're usually sensitive to cilantro, you might still enjoy these--I mostly tasted a bright, lemony freshness rather than heavy cilantro. Sides (Broccoli Rabe & Asparagus): I substituted chips for a vegetable side. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, I got to try the broccoli rabe first, though it turned out way too spicy for anyone at our table. My actual order was asparagus--my absolute favorite--but it was a bit disappointing, as the bottom half of each stalk was woody and fibrous. Fish & Chips ($21.50): My friend went with this traditional entry. At that price point, he was expecting three fillets, but he couldn't finish the two that were served and took some home. Overall, a solid entrée. Classic Breakfast ($15.50): My husband got this from the brunch menu. He was very pleased with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, thick-sliced bacon, and sausage links. Overall, a solid visit with great variety on the menu!
