Gyros on the spit! Great! I asked the (obviously) owner for "the meat to be well done". No one else in line. Cook only two steps away. Nothing said out loud or on the receipt as to my request! I get it, old school they turn up the spit flame and give the meat a nice char. But it's only one sandwich so I didn't expect that. First of all, let me start this review with. YOU ARE LUCKY MY MATE PAID CASH AND I DIDN'T USE MY CHARGE, BECAUSE I'D BE CHARGING YOU BACK! My mate ordered the rib tips, they were dry and overall terrible. The quality was what would be expected for the money. The slaw which is supposed to be served cold was served room temp at best. The fries were not fresh. Literally the only good thing he got was the garlic bread. I ordered the classic Greek Salad which has been in my eyes a staple of this restaurant for over ten years. I am now writing this review with great disappointment. The salad was bland and unappealing, it seemed like it had come out of a bag from the supermarket. The feta cheese typically encrusted with signature spices and crumbly was at best hard and unappealing with no spices on it. The cucumbers were god awful, they were bitter and tasted like they had aged. Not expired but they definitely were in the fridge too long to be of QUALITY. There's nothing to say food poisoning or any major issues but the food here is of such low quality I have to say, you get what you pay for. Their salad is still the same price it was a decade ago, this isn't them being nice and keeping the salad the same price, this is them saying "We'll keep the same price while cutting corners left and right and making our food unacceptable for persons with sensitive stomach" If you have IBS, skip this dive of a restaurant. If you have ANY gastric issue skip this place. This restaurant is dead to me and my family, I hope it goes bankrupt, if not it'll at least just be to us that lousy dive restaurant the industrial district workers dine at. If you have absolutely no palate and or all you care about is your wallet then maybe this will work for you, but if you've ever once dined at a Michelin rated restaurant, you won't even be able to grade this as 'acceptable' fast food. This is below the standards that BK puts out. This is worse than the salad I could get basically ANYWHERE else. Congratulations BBQ Patio, you've ruined your relationship with a rather large business executor. I will be making sure none of my associates or affiliates come to this dive. PLEASE, for the sake of the whole community, SELL THE RESTAURANT TO A COMPETENT OWNER. Clearly this place has either changed management or needs a shakeup or they will end up belly up in the tank as the restaurant is bulldozed for another Walgreens (which honestly, I'd rather have another drug store than this dive!) Update: My stomach has gone so sour from this places clearly spoiled or improperly stored cucumbers. Lucky I don't have full on poisoning. You guys need to be checked by the health department. It's has all the makings of a great place. The menu has a ton of options and so many looked good. It looks like a throw back to another era. The staff was not particularly friendly, but they weren't rude. I had an Italian Beef sandwich and there was nothing wrong with it - but I have had better and more flavorful versions elsewhere. If I went back I would try the burger that looked good or some chicken that also looked really good. They do a nice business from the local factories and it appears to be a neighborhood institution. Our order was extraordinarily, inexcusably bad. Our fries were so undercooked that they were just barely past being raw in the center. And our onion ring order contained 6 scraggly rings that seemed to be leftovers from an old batch. Also, they charge you for a side of hot giardinera, and give you all of maybe two tablespoons in a tiny little sauce cup. Really....??? This is not the BBQ Patio I remember from years ago. The portions in general, such as the size of the sandwiches, are also continuing to get way smaller. We will not be returning. Just an FYI: The "bbq" here is pretty bland. Many in Chicago that do the same thing so, in my opinion, if you're going to do it you've got to do it right. 1- decor and establishment look worn and dirty. I got my food to go so I didn't sit down and exp the tables etc. 2- I ordered a gyro combo which came out to a steep $10 total. I was disappointed to see a smaller serving of fries than I get at other places, a smaller portion of gyro, a medium drink and not a large. 3- upon opening my bag, I noticed no napkins. Ug. 4- They use a cheap brand of ketchup which just makes for an off flavor. 5- the gyro was DRIPPING with grease. I Drive by often enough and finally stopped in. Yes, it's a very basic hot dog shop. It's also pretty good! I had a gyro- hold the pita and got a mound of yummy meat and veggies. The half pint cute kid of mine had his messy chili cheese hot dog and he rated it 5 stars as well. Well first he said it was 4 stars because it was too hot but I informed him that hot is a plus! Nothing wrong with an unexpected find, right? Atmosphere: The restaurant was basic but clean -- no complaints for a casual cafe-style place. That being said, the eating utensils were not individually wrapped in plastic, and all thrown together in a (not so sanitary looking) bin. I understand this is a casual spot but I'm a little grossed out by that! Food: Overall the prices are not bad -- about $5-$8 a plate. The serving sizes are more than adequate but the taste profile was average at best. We love Gyro places - and we're looking forward to a spiced, flavorful snack! We tried the burger, Gyro sandwich and a hot dog -- all were greasy, bland and unfortunately boring. What a let down! Sadly, this wouldn't be on our list of places to return to. read more

Once before I had the Patti Melt and it was great. Recently, a friend and I both had the Melt and found it lacking. It seemed like the meat was a poorer grade, somewhat thin and gristly. BBQ Patio is a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. The name is a little confusing, as too me it seems like a standard Greek take out place with gyros, beef sandwiches, hot dogs, etc, and not much focus on the BBQ side of the business. Meals are decent, hitting them on a special day for what you want is definitely helpful on the wallet. I usually get the gyros or the cheese burger. The gyros is decent, but for the immediate Rolling Meadows area it is one of your best options. Honestly as stated early not a bad place to grab a quick bite, but nothing memorable stands out here to make it a special place, or that calls me to go there regularly.
