We LOVE Big Ange's! I have catered from them a couple of times and have always had a great experience. My family and I have dined there as well, and everything is always amazing plus a great staff. I recently catered from them for Fathers Day and everything was on point as usual. My husband and father-in-law couldn't get enough of the ribs!! I am a vegetarian but I do enjoy their sides and in store they have a vegetarian sandwich option! I have recommended Big Ange's to anyone I know that is looking to cater or for some amazing BBQ! We had a top notch experience st Big Ange's. I had the BBQ pork sandwich topped with coleslaw. My husband had the brisket sandwich with a side of mac n cheese with bacon. Customer service was amazing. After we ordered I decided to add a side of fries, which were added at no charge. The sandwiches were large, so I ended up eating half. The fries were freshly cut some skin on. Both the brisket and pork were tender, cooked to perfection and had no fat. The brioche bun was fresh and toasted The gentleman who took our order, brought us ice cream and even anticipated I would need a bag for my leftovers was delightful. Unfortunately I did not catch his name, but we had a nice conversation and when I mentioned how nice he was, he commented how much he enjoyed his job. It definitely was refreshing. I'm torn between ratings. Its legit bbq. I ordered the brisket sandwich and fries. The flavor of the nicely smoked brisket was all there but the meat was dry. The fries were tasty but very limp and not crispy at all. At $20. a sandwich I expected better. Cute indoor decor. They have a nice but small outdoor seating area. Wow! What a let down. Being a big fan of Chicago BBQ, Big Ange's came highly recommended by some of my BBQ friends that I trust. I decided to take my wife and another couple for the first time. Big mistake. Although we arrived at 5:30PM for dinner, we were told there was only 1 slab of ribs left. We ordered this, plus the prime brisket along with mac & cheese and coleslaw and fries. The ribs were dry and way too sweet. In addition, the brisket was stringy, dry and tough. Just awful. The rub on the outside was burned giving the brisket a charcoal taste. I had to spit a few bites into my napkin as it was just too tough to swallow. The fries were undercooked and soggy. The mac & cheese was ok but probably pre-made and microwaved to order. Although 2 different homemade BBQ sauces are offered, they both tasted the same and were nothing special. I expected the homemade lemonade to live up to the hype on the website but it too, was a great disappointment and certainly not worth the price. Perhaps the key is to arrive earlier for lunch as hopefully the food will be fresher? I wouldn't know as i won't be going back. read more

Well technically they smoke it in the parking lot (just like high school) but that's beside the point, or should I say, that's beside the Highway? They got brisket AND pastrami. Pulled pork. Tri tip. I was wondering if the food would be ready at 11am ? And yes one of about 8 employees handed out bite size pieces of some of the most delectable brisket seasoned and smoked to perfection that had just been removed from the smoker . Smoked Pastrami, Ribs , but it was the Tri Tip sandwich that lured me there . I couldn't leave without bringing home the pepper and Egg sandwich. I saw a dude having one of their homemade milkshakes and heard him say " this is amazing ." Did I say Homemade ? Everything is Homemade. It's the kind of place that one would consider moving the family to their neighborhood just so you could be close to this restaurant. The Homemade lemonade is unique and free refills . I've driven by Big Ange's a number of times - lot is usually crowded and I've typically been in a hurry, so I've never had the patience to stop. But today while running errands in the area during an off lunch time, I thought I'd cruise by and check it out. Just an occasional customer there around 2PM - plenty of parking, so inside I went. I'm giving the place five stars, even though there were a couple of downsides. First, the individual cole slaw serving (the cup size that usually comes with a sandwich / 95 cents here) was good, but didn't bowl me over, I'm more of a fan of slaw that has a slight bite to it. The other downside is the price. I got a brisket sandwich and while the serving was substantial, at $14,95 ala carte, it's not cheap. Add the slaw, an order of fries, soda pop and it's a $25 plus tab. Not exactly an economical lunch bill by any means. That said, the BBQ'ed brisket was outstanding. I ended up using their house sauce on it (tried the Blueberry Habanero - good as well, but stayed with a standard!). Awesome smoky BBQ flavor - somewhat moist and extremely flavorful meat. I told one of the mgr/owners that they'd give Smoque a run for their money - he said he thought that they are better than Smoque. Truly a solid player in the Chicago area BBQ market. I'll be back again - especially if I'm in the mood for top shelf BBQ. read more

What can I say other than I just found the BEST Brisket. Our entire meal was outstanding. The Brisket bark perfect, and the meat juicy and tender. We were kinda underwhelmed about that one, but it didn't detract from the overall awesomeness of the place! Everything - EVERYTHING is home made - including the ice cream for the milkshakes!! There's also Italian ice. They make it all and show you how on the video running between the big menu boards. (They don't make the bread, but that's ok by me.) I came here on a friend's recommendation. Last time. My son and I came in and ordered a couple prime brisket sandwiches, fries,a half slab of ribs,and lemonade. It came to almost $70. The ribs were nicely done. Good chew and the glaze was excellent. Fries were ok nothing spectacular. The two brisket sandwiches were quite large but should be considering the $17 price tag.Good flavor. Nice fat to meat ratio,nicely seasoned bark, decent smoke flavor. However, there were parts that were really dry. I was going to return one of them but my son insisted he'd just eat it. Upon leaving my son went to the washroom so I was standing by the register. The guy behind the counter said we should try the ribs and I said we just had them. He said we have the best bbq in the area. I told him I disagree the brisket was kind of dry.He gave me a look and said to the guy cutting the brisket," he said the brisket was dry" his response" I'll cry later". I said that's a crappy attitude, especially towards a first ( and last) time customer. So that being said- you lost two customers. Great BBQ; we tried the pulled pork sandwich w/onion rings, prime brisket sandwich w/fries, with coleslaw and a milk shake. Saw diners with a half slab of ribs with smiles and licking their fingers. Someone at the next table got a stacked Italian beef sandwich. The smell of quality smoked meats was, but a hint of what was to come. We had the Smoked Tri-tip sandwich, a side of hand-cut French-fries, and a lemonade. The food was exceptional! The tantalizing flavors of the melt-in-your-mouth Tri-tip were Out-of-this-World (nearly heavenly). The hand-cut fries were perfectly cooked & lightly salted - oh so tasty! Portions are huge. The smoked pastrami was excellent. The smoked Reuben was also excellent as well , but with the sauerkraut and sauce it's hard to eat it as a sandwich since the bread gets saturated and falls apart. Fries are delicious too. read more
