I do enjoy the big five Brandon feel like they are a very consistent well ran organization, each location being pretty there a cookie-cutter to the others. This site is no different offering the same great pricing and inventory as the others that I've been to. The staff is super friendly, professional and knowledgeable as well. One of the things I really enjoy about big five is the incredible sales they put on on a very regular basis. I typically will purchase a pocket knife of some sort for my father for birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day and any other time that there's a gift in need. He's a very outdoorsy kind of guy and has a tendency to lose his pocket knives so it's good to know that I can get him a quality replacement at a very reasonable price pretty much any week of the year. read more

Big 5 does not have quite as big a selection as Dick's (if you're a golfer or a tennis player, you really need to go Dick's) but Big 5 has a lot of stuff packed into its store. And they carried an item that I could not find at Dick's this last time. It's good to have two big-box general sporting good stores in town (recognizing that we have Sportman's Warehouse, too, but that's more specialized even if huge. And there's REI.). That Big 5 is on the opposite side of town from Dick's is also a plus. I'm not one to ask for assistance all that often but the staff at Big 5 seem helpful. read more

They have a little attitude here. Kind of friendly but treat you like a criminal if you don't have a receipt. The return product has a sticker showing it's from their store. I was going in for a clear simple exchange of product and yet they thought it was perfectly fine to try and charge me overage because I didn't have the receipt. I don't think I was treated fairly. So me and my children were shopping around and right as we are getting ready to cash out the manager comes up to me and kicked me and my children out because my children weren't wearing out even though Oregon state law requires any child over the age of 12 to wear a mask my children have health issues lung issues we're wearing a mask or hurt them or they're not wearing one so the fact that they were so mean in derogatory and ridiculous to my family not even willing to ask a question is ridiculous!!!! I know so many people in this town including business owners Etc I will make sure that their behavior is known!!! read more

Heelies: a quick and easy way to get your child to the emergency room. My daughter wanted Heelies (shoes with skate wheels in the, errr, heels). Since it was her birthday, we went shopping around. They are tough to find! We must have visited a dozen shoe stores before someone suggested we try Big 5. There they were... pink ones, black ones, grey ones and red ones... beckoning from the back of the stores. My daughter found a pair that are black with pink stripes. She quickly got to work figuring out how to remove the "filler" plug and popped in her wheels. And promptly fell on her butt. It's taken some practice, but she is getting the hang of scooting around pretty much everywhere on her heelies. Even though this is a chain, you won't find any big box attitude at Big 5. Clerks are helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are a little high, but quality is good. And as far as I can tell this is the only store in Bend that sells Heelies! (Update: they also have them at Costco. But only sometimes!) read more

Tiny sporting goods chain store in the parking lot of Fred Meyer. Employees seemed nice enough but the selection of products is very limited. Went in for bicycle tubes and they only had a couple and not in the size I needed, which was a common size. They even kept them behind the counter! Is tube theft rampant in Bend? Also noticed that the brands that they carry are rather low end. Don't see myself returning. read more

Usually I don't have a lot too say about the box stores, but my experience today warrants comment. Big 5 is going to get 5 stars in my book, they aren't a small shop, or local, but my experience today was awesome. I called and had an item put on hold for me, so went first thing this morning to pick it up. I wanted to beat the Christmas rush. I got to the store on Haleigh helped me get the item (which was in the back) up to the register. They were having serious technical difficulties this morning. Couldn't process payments that were anything other than cash. Ok, I'm hoping to pay by check, but am ready to do credit card. (With the system being down, credit card was not an option) Haleigh never skips a beat, gets my check entered into their POS and then calls to get a verbal authorization on my check. Voila, transaction complete! She was awesome. Smiled, kept things moving, like I said, never skipped a beat. Mitch (the manager?) looked stressed....I don't blame him. To not have credit card payments working this close to Christmas is no good. The man who brought my item from the back (I didn't get his name) was patient as well. Helped me out to the car and loaded my item. He too was awesome. So, not my typical place to shop, but the staff was excellent. read more

Usually i love this store but there's a horrible manager here, who won't honor his mistakes with pricing and acted very immature when I asked him to uphold the price that was posted. He told me that "we would never price our tennis balls so low" and didnt believe the price I told him it showed on the display. Guy comes back from checking and says im right. He questioned my integrity that the "tags had been switched" but this shows his ignorance because it was PRINTED wrong too. Unbelievably poor customer service. Will take my business elswhere and tell my tennis clients to not go here. read more

We love Big 5 Sporting Good. As im sure most of you know, everything here is remarkably inexpensive. There are some things that are cheap because they are cheaply made, however most everything is a name brand at discount prices. The customer service is great, the staff for the most part if knowledgeable and the buying experience tends to be smooth. Returns are a breeze, if its not in stock they will find it. If the item you are buying was recently on sale, they will always apply the discount. We have been coming here 1 a week for years, and have always been satisfied. read more
