So, I've learned my lesson with Beyond Bread. I'm a bit underwhelmed by their salads, but their sandwiches and their bread are killer (from a bakery, who knew?). The Charlie's Chicken sandwich is always great. The BBQ sauce isn't too overpowering, and I love all of the flavors. I tend to be a fan of hot vs. cold sandwiches, so this has become a go-to for me. As for sides, their pasta salad is always good, as well as their soups (chicken and dumplings is my absolute favorite). The husband has also gotten the Reuben several times and been consistently pleased! read more

I recently dined here with my daughter. We both ordered soup, chicken & dumplings and tomato basil for my daughter. The one star is because the gal offered a sample while she helped a struggling employee locate customers for deliveries. After eating the soup I bit into an oblong shaped gnocchi NOT a dumpling. When I brought the soup to the counter to ask why there weren't dumplings a manager said (while sweeping) "yeah it's gnocchis not dumplings and they're not homemade." She agreed it was misleading and kept sweeping. NO apologies, no offer for a refund, nothing. Very disappointed Beyond Bread. Has left a really bad impression.....doesn't seem like they care. Been a once or twice a month customer for several years, very disappointed in our visit on 10/30/2021. Order taker was rude and uncooperative on this visit. Asked for a repeat of our order as the price seemed high. This was greeted with muttering and an eye roll, followed by "I can't do that", moments before she did just that. The order was incorrect and had to be repeated 3 times for her to get it. When asked to see a manager after she had no clue how to enter a balky credit card approval the reply was "I am just trying to help you". She failed to get a manager at which point we went to a table and passed on interacting with this person. Very atypical for this location but annoying nonetheless. Food was fine. read more

I'm sorry but I'm just not hopping aboard the "Beyond Bread bandwagon". I give three stars because the bread always tastes fresh and the desserts (which lets be real, is all I really need in life...well besides Jax Teller...) are of good quality and variety. The service is friendly and if you can get over the fact that everyone in the world is sticking their germy hands in, they offer samples of their bread while you wait! Why not give 5 stars you ask? The pastries and desserts, while very good, taste garden variety. Obviously not walmart, but for the price you pay it seems the ingredients and the selection should be a little better. Maybe Village bake house has spoiled me, but if your in the area it's not a bad choice. read more

I stop in here to buy bread. They make great sandwiches too. I got the tip about their ciabatta from Wildflower. They served some really good grilled ciabatta on an appetizer plate. 50 cents extra for non-dairy creamer? Are you kidding me?!! First, the staff didn't think they offered any non-dairy at all, apparently not realizing that soy milk doesn't come from a cow. Then came the outrageously inflated extra charge -- putting soy milk in the $50 a gallon range. Ripping off lactose intolerant customers is not a good way to entice them to return. Not very impressed by the sandwiches. They were flavorless and kind of flat. They have a great patio sitting and the food came on time.

Fresh, fresh bread. Really lovely sandwiches with high quality ingredients. Great, reasonably priced pastries (the kouign amann - or however you spell it - is a smashed croissant like, buttery, sugar crusted disc of heaven!). Last week, I came to Beyond Bread on Ina to grab a couple sandwiches. Server/cashier Sheree was short but precise. I felt as if I was a major inconvenience to her. Might have been one of the hostesses having to prompt her to greet me and take my order, pulling her away from another conversation. Food is always spot on! Today was extremely disappointing . I had a bad experience once here before and thought maybe I'll try it again. I walked in at 8am no one in line and the lady with dark hair at the register said welcome . After that I asked a few questions and she huffed as if I was bothering her then rudely said are you ready now . I said no not yet. I was already a fan of Beyond Bread's sandwiches. However, I had never tried their breakfasts. Gary (one of our "dining trio" that often includes my mother) and I were wondering what to do for breakfast. We decided to give Beyond Bread a shot, not expecting more than some pastries and some bread-y items. Were we wrong! We walked in, observing a full house of happily eating, noisy diners! They have a great breakfast menu, with egg sandwiches and about 5-6 choices of what else goes into 'em, plus omelettes, plus pastries...etc. A tough but yummy decision. Gary and I both opted for different egg sandwiches for around $6.25. What a GREAT choice! He got a ham, cheese, egg and some other goodies sandwich while mine had bacon, cheese, egg, tomato and love in it. The most outstanding feature was the perfectly chewy texture of the slightly toasted bread. It was like...melt in your mouth terrific! And you get a fair share of food, too. On top of that, you get to choose from a few sides. I chose the potato pancakes (two good-sized ones accompanied the entree sandwich). I only wish they had some sour cream and apple sauce (traditional latkes Jewish style, ha ha) to put on it. I'm sure I could have asked but I was so full as it was. We also ordered a sandwich to go. Everything was SO good. And what value! I had to take half the egg sandwich home, to enjoy for the next repast. I can't say the same about Gary's meal. His was inhaled, man-style. I have to say that Beyond Bread is a wonderful experience. I had tried the one on speedway blvd. and was pleased. This one is telling me to come back, come often, and enjoy Beyond Bread. The one on Speedway is the main backing facility and the others are satellites that have the bread and goodies trucked to them. Today we split a sandwich (plenty for us) and enjoyed everything about it. The bread, the turkey, the vegetables and all! I will be having lunch here again when I am next in Tucson. You get yourself some roast beef, green pepper, red onions, and russian dressing! Yum!! There are plenty of breads to choose from! Some of their bread is hard and makes your sandwich really unsatisfying.It's not hard because it is old, but hard because its how the bread is baked. While ordering you can always ask the cashier what kind of bread "they" would eat it on...then its a safe bet you wont end up with a rock hard bread sandwiching your food. They have a complimentary bread bowl you can pick at while you're waiting for you food. If sandwiches are not your thing, they also offer salads, soup, bread soup bowls, and desserts/pastries!! They also offer breakfast, I haven't been able to try their breakfast yet, but everyone raves how good it is! Will have to try it next time around! Had lunch with new friend on the covered patio yesterday. She had Friday salmon special salad, and I had Friday salmon special sandwich, plus regular potato chips. Staff were friendly and helpful. Chairs were comfortable. It's nice to eat in their hybrid outside/inside space at ambient temperature. I realized afterward that in future I need to ask for the bread to be warmed or toasted. Cold bread surrounding warm salmon isn't my favorite. Suggestion: offer toasted/warmed bread with all hot sandwich contents. read more

Good food however....when you order to go in person or on app they never give you the vinaigrette with the sandwich and you have to ask for it. The app has the option to remove the vinaigrette so if I didn't opt to NOT get it then that means YES I want it. So I ordered today checked my bag no surprise no vinaigrette I told the lady her response what are you sure? (Well obviously I just looked) then she opened my bag to look for herself!!! I have loved Beyond Bread for years, but over the last year there have been so many mistakes in my to go order. There is some kind of communication issue between the front of house staff and the kitchen, because they're just not getting it right. I love their sandwiches, but over the last year I've only got what I've ordered maybe half of the time. I really felt awkward at first coming in here - it was like grand central station inside. I wasn't quite sure what to do. I managed to figure it out quickly though, and I found my way through the bustling herd of customers shuffling around looking for a table or getting drinks or whatever they were doing to the cashier to place my order. I was sort of having a low blood sugar moment, so my brain wasn't processing the menu - I asked him if I could just get a turkey sandwich. Then he asked me 20 questions which I did my best to answer. He handed me a number and some chips and a cup and sent me on my way... I joined the herd and found a table and got my drink and started snacking on my chips They were almost gone before my sandwich arrived. My sandwich was delicious, but a little dry (I guess that's kinda my fault because I don't like mayo on sandwiches, but the pesto they put on it wasn't enough to overcome the dryness of the turkey). I love this place! Their bread is fresh and delicious, the sandwiches are huge and tasty, and the prices are reasonable. You can buy all sorts of breads and pastries too. A few of my favorite sandwiches: Carmella's Caprese, one of the best vegetarian sandwiches around Rudy's Reuben, one of the best reubens around (come on Saturday for the pretzel bun!) Carol's Cornucopia, or the "Thanksgiving sandwich" Betty's Brie, roast beef and brie! Yum! Definitely one of the best places for lunch or dinner. I was craving a corned beef sandwich and I wanted to find a place that's new that my family and I haven't tried yet so we decided to come here for dinner. There wasn't a lot of people and it made me hesitant to even go in but I was wrong. I ordered the Ruby's Reuben which is the corned beef sandwich on rye bread. The amount of each was PERFECT. The corned beef was nice and warm. They only give it whole so I ended up sharing it because I thought it would be too much but I regret even sharing it because it was SO good. I ended up coming here again the next day for lunch and it was packed. I ordered the same sandwich but it looked a little messier than the day before and they toasted the bread which I didn't mind. I still like it. I also had the Tiramisu cake, which was dry and it felt like it was left out too long. It was large enough to share for 3 people as a dessert. I also tried their Clam Chowder. I didn't care for it much. It's not as flavorful and a bowl of it was too small. The cashiers and people serving the food were nice. There's lots of seating but it seems like there's not enough during lunch time because everyone comes here to eat. Just because of the sandwich, I would definitely come back here again. read more

I am a huge fan of Beyond Bread, and feel they should expand beyond Tucson. I usually order either a Betty's Brie or the Tomato Basil Soup, which are my favorites. I have eaten here a couple dozen times, and have never had a friend not like their food. The only complaint anyone ever had was that the bread was too hard. However, they warn you about this on the menu, so simply ask for a softer substitute if you have sensitive teeth. Also, I enjoy the added space at this location, with a covered and slightly cooler outside area compared to the Campbell location. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot in Tucson and has been since I moved here 5 years ago. The sandwiches are huge; some I can make into 3 meals, and the pasta salad ($1 extra with your sandwich) is the best I've ever had. Usually at restaurants I tend to order the same thing every time I go, but at Beyond Bread I always order something different because there is so much to try, and everything is so good! Some of my favorite sandwiches are Colette's Cordon Blue, Rex's Revenge and Bart's Bag. Oh, and can't forget the Saturday Special-Rueben on Pretzel Roll! You can also sub any bread on any sandwich, no problem (be careful of the breads with the little tooth next to them on the menu, they can be quite hard). read more

Seriously love the Beyond Bread! Favorite sandwich is the Annie's Addiction on multigrain to split. It's a sandwich piled high (HIGH) with flavorful hummus, sprouts, tomatoes, and red onions. Oh and the Maya's Market is not to be missed, either! I've recently imposed an eating disorder on myself in which I don't eat bread. It's very sad, especially when it means I don't eat Beyond Bread bread. Even without their multigrain though, I'm still loving their Chicken Salad. The only problems with the salad are that it doesn't automatically come with romaine lettuce and that no one seems to get what plain balsamic vinegar is - they always give me balsamic vinaigrette dressing....hrrrmph. I should also say that I cook at home a lot, so whipping up my version of Beyond Bread meals would be no problemo. I keep going back though, because they just do it so well that it's north worth my effort. read more

I love love Beyond Bread! My only complaint is that they are not in Phoenix, and therefore it is a once in a while treat when I visit Tucson. Beyond Bread really has there act together, it is easy to order, there is never much of a wait even when it is packed! Of course the food is great, but oh man the bread is the BEST! I got the Maddy's Madness, which was packed full of chicken, bacon, avocado and havarti cheese. The combination was outstanding, but once again the best part was the Mulitgrain bread. I couldn't get enough of the bead! It was so full of grains, I was kinda mad at myself from not buying a loaf to bring back home. Never again! I will make sure to always bring one back from now on! If you are looking for a great, filling and healthy lunch there are many choices at Beyond Bread! Do not let the crowds scare you away! I promise it will be worth the wait! read more

This is my go-to spot whenever I want a nice lunch. The bread is extremely good, which is made on-site every day, and you can always count on friendly service. While I think all of their Tucson locations are excellent, I work near the one on Ina Rd. and love the outdoor seating arena. A beautiful Tucson day with a big sandwich is hard to beat. Favorite sandwiches? I'm a fan of Molly's Crisis - Big cuts of turkey, hummus and fresh veggies all on rustic bread. Time to update the previous review. Ordered to go around 5 p.m. middle of the week. When presented a Discover credit card with which to pay, was snootily informed by the cashier (where _do_ they get their attitudes?) that they don't take Discover. No problem, I replied, and handed over a different credit card. The sandwich was uneven (same Roast beef and brie as before, but the bread was much harder (old) and the sandwich started out wide at one end then narrowed down to a much noticeably thinner (with less meat and cheese) sandwich on the other half). My family and I started eating at Beyond Bread when I first attended UofA in '98. It has to say something that 14 years later (eek!), we hit up Beyond Bread every. single. time. we're in Tucson. It's understood amongst my parents and sister that if any one of us is in Tucson or will be passing by on the I-10, they must call to obtain our bread order. Since we always stop at Beyond Bread right before heading home, this newer location at Ina and Oracle is our default. So I obviously I think the bread is amazing. I have at least a couple loaves in my freezer at all times. I buy it sliced, keep it in zip-loc freezer bags, and pop it in the toaster or microwave as needed. I love trying out the special flavors of the day, but my go-to loaf is the multigrain. My dad lives for their rustic loaf, and my husband must always have the garlic italian for his sandwiches. If it's available, get the ancho chile loaf. It's tastes like a spicy cheez-it and goes great with avocado. Beyond Bread also has the best whole wheat pitas I've ever tasted. I'm so glad they finally started selling them direct. And unlike the pita bread at Trader Joe's, it can sit on the counter a few days without going moldy. Finally, let's discuss their banana bread. No other banana bread even comes close to their heavenly loaf. It's loaded with chunks of cream cheese (I don't know how they manage to bake those in without the cream cheese melting) and chocolate chips, and it's topped with an awesome cinnamon streusel. Every cliche about amazing food fits the description of their banana bread. If you don't like it, you're either allergic to bananas or too joyless to live (I stole that from Frank Bruni). read more

I think I over excited myself for this place. My friends raved about beyond bread, and insisted I try it. Since I'm in Tucson about once a month, I figured I would try it on my next drive down. I didn't know what to expect going in, maybe glowing gates or an angels choir by the way my friends spoke of the facility. What I got, was a crowded, loud restaurant. Upon first coming in, people were standing around so it was unclear where to go at first. Finally a gal at the front counter called us over. She seemed really out of it though. We sat on the *outside area* because it was a less noisy, but it seemed dirty. The floor on the inside had food on the floors, the soda/tea station was really a mess as well. We had to wipe our own table when sitting. I ordered the avie avo, which was pretty tasty. I'm not sure if it was anything super special, but it definitely hit the spot. I'm giving three stars based on the condition of the restaurant. If it had been cleaner and more of a clear system for ordering, it would be a lot better. read more

Sandwich heaven and more! Beyond Bread has been a favorite of mine for years. All the breads, the delicious meats and cheeses, the creative combinations! I have recently discovered breakfast at this lunch hold-fast. Oh boy: Nice big portions, enough fun choices to keep me coming back, and what a nice morning crew!
