I seek out Jason for his recommendations, ever since I asked him for a unique suggestion in December. He pointed to Pennsylvania Dutch, a peppermint cream liqueur and said to drink it straight. I was going to put it in coffee but he was right about not needing to mix it... and I drank the whole bottle by myself on NYE... I stopped in last month for mini bottles of Woodford Reserve to sneak on the train to a hockey game, and the price was so high for a shot, that I should have filled some small bottles at home instead. This time I came home with a Purity Vodka on his guidance, to be had straight. I had a shocking and deeply upsetting experience at this BevMo location today. As a mom shopping alone with my two small children, I was treated in a way that no customer should ever endure. My 6-year-old son was sitting quietly near the door while I grabbed a bottle of tequila for a holiday gift, holding my toddler. When I got in line, the line attendant directed me to the farthest register. Since there was no one behind me, I hesitated to ensure I could keep an eye on my kids and said I'd wait for the closer register. That's when his tone became rude and snarky. He made a completely inappropriate comment suggesting that I didn't care about looking after my kids. He actually used the words "your freaking children" When I asked him to clarify, he doubled down and dismissively told me to "keep going" and "just pay and leave already." Unfortunately, those were not the only rude words he said during this interaction, but I'm summarizing the main points here. I was stunned by his hostility. When I asked to speak to a manager, he pointed to a woman standing nearby who had observed the entire interaction without stepping in. When I turned to her for support, she seemed disengaged at first but eventually asked me to explain what happened--despite having witnessed it herself. I eventually spoke to another manager who was more helpful, but by then the rude employee had disappeared without offering an apology or acknowledging his behavior. This experience left me in tears. I was already cautious bringing my kids into a store full of breakable items, but I had no other choice. Despite my children touching nothing and behaving perfectly, I was accused of not caring about them and treated with complete disrespect. I'd also like to add that the cashier who served me was kind. After the dreadful interaction was over and I was paying for my purchase, I started tearing up despite trying to hold it together. He asked if I needed help and if I was okay, which I really appreciated. Thank you to him for that small kindness. I hope this incident is taken seriously. Very strange experience. You ask people where specific items are, and they just point. There was one older gentleman who gave me a brand name to look for after I requested organic wine. I am used to places where the staff knows brands and types of wine, and they actually take you to the shelf to find it, along with valuable suggestions. No enthusiasm at all. Very odd. Best place to grab some deals on booze. I love that there is a section of wine on sale year round, and there is a really great selection of wines for everyone. Same goes fo beer if you're into that (I have celiac, so I usually hit the ciders). The staff is knowledgeable and is there to help you out and I've always been able to find what I need. A different BevMo location over sold me for my wedding but they let me return an entire case of wine so that was a positive (they did indeed over sell me by an entire case). Check it out! read more

Bottom Line: Wine, Beer, Booze, Set-Ups and Snacks served in a large and well organized store but customer service is hit or miss. Overall, I really like BevMo. They have a large selection of wine, beer and booze. The San Diego beer selection here is decent but it good to note, that unlike other BevMo stores, it is organized by Brewery (Belching Beaver, Green Flash, etc.) rather than by type (Stouts, Cider's, etc.) And although I am not a huge wine drinker, I always want to stock up on wine here during the five-cents wine sale. (Buy one bottle of wine and the second is five-cents.) If you are provisioning your bar or hosting a party, BevMo is a great place to look for setups including fun cocktail napkins, disposable wine glasses, frilly toothpicks and other things you didn't think you need. They also have some good drinking snacks. I personally love the wide array of plastic "airplane bottles" of booze because they are great for stuffing inside of my adult pinatas. (You never know what is going to fall out of one my pinatas when you give it a whack but it is always good stuff!) This store is more densely than the Encinitas location but it is still well organized and not overwhelming. Also, I like that this location can easily stick my out of state ID in their scanner and it doesn't take summoning management to determine I'm 15 years over the legal drinking age while holding up the line. Staff here is friendly but a a little lazy. My member card wasn't coming up in the system and instead of getting me a new card, he told me I wasn't going to save more than a few dollars on the transaction anyway. Sigh. Lazy. read more

Every time you make a purchase, the cashier can enter your phone number for you to get the discount. You can stock up well with any beer or liquor you want, and the selection of wines is fantastic. You can also shop for glassware, accessories, and snacks what your dinner parties. They have different crackers, cheeses, meats, party platters, and sodas for whatever party you want to host. My only gripe is there are some niche beverages you won't be able to find here. I could not find genever, sambuca, or a variety of schnapps. If you are in the market for more exotic or rare liquors, you might want to find a Total Wines & More or some other liquor store that stocks them. read more

Warm, open, inviting, bright and my go to place for all things alcohol. If I just need a single bottle just 1 case of beer I'll find the cheapest and go there, but often when I throw a party I need a few cases of domestic, a few cases of import/craft, various bottles or wine and liquor, ice and what not's. So rather than drive to 6 places to save a few bucks on 30 items I come here, my 1 stop shop. Maybe I'll pay a little more, but if you can't find it here, it probably can't be found locally. The beer and wine isles are a little tight, but the liquor isles are wine open, great quotes on the wall, well lit and knowledgeable, engaging, helpful staff keep me coming back. I'm a fan of finding the next big brand. Like if your on a budget and can't afford the $60 of Scotch, I like to know what's the next best thing, but half the price. I went to BevMo and they are practicing social distancing which I appreciate when I arrived they told me I had to call my order in and they would bring it out, there was also a sign on the door with the number and told us to call in as well! I followed instructions and they answered and told me I had to download the app because they only have 5 people working. There was only one other person in the parking lot ordering. I told them that I was told to call in and the guy on the phone said he didn't care. I guess they have plenty of business and are allowing employees to be rude and not provide customer service. I am a pretty big fan of alcohol in general, so I in turn am a big fan of Bevmo! This location is close to my house, the employees in general are friendly and helpful, the selection is vast, the prices can be good. Obviously during the 5 Cent Wine Sale there are deals to be had, although the wines sometimes are just so-so. Not that I really care, I am a wine drinker, but not a huge wine snob. But you are snobby about it, I would imagine the "best" vintages are not being sold for 5 Cents for the second bottle. Just an educated guess. They have Ginger Beer, and since Moscow Mules are all the rage, you can get that here. They also have DIET Ginger Beer which is amazing in my book. I have a Bevmo rewards card, I have no clue what all the points do for me. I suppose I should look into that, maybe there's a bunch of free booze waiting for me if I cash in my points. read more

Had to struggle with "four or five star business". But I had to go 5 after thinking about my full experience. This location is eazy to get in and out of, staff greet you when entering store. As with other BevMo's beers are organized in style , import, ciders, stouts ipas and sessions. My friends and myself are big Session fans and this location has a decent selection. Like to see my favorite brews refrigerated but still the fact they even stock them is great. Good selection of tasty snacks, cheese's, chips and more. After placing my order I received an email letting me know my order was paid, pulled and ready for pick up. All I had to do was present my confirmation number. Got to the store and an associate was at the door but to busy talking with another associate to speak to me. Finally he turned to me and I gave him my order number. He said will be a few minutes as he continued talking with the other associate. A few minutes go by and said it will be a few more minutes. When I said the order was paid for and ready for pickup as per the email. He disappeared and finally on the third request he had my order. When I told him because of him Bevmo lost my business forever he said he didn't care. Just shameful customer service. read more

This was the first time visiting this BevMo since the Encinitas store is closer but we popped in here since we were running errands in the area. The store itself seems a tad bit smaller than their sister store but they seemed to have the regular items that we tend to purchase. We just needed a few bottles of wine to bring to a dinner party we were attending that night so we were armed with our selection in a few short minutes of arriving. Our cashier, Dakota checked us out and was REALLy chatty when all we wanted to do was get in and out. We were a little on edge at first because we needed to get going but after a few minutes, we realized it was friendly reminder to my husband and I to "slow down" a bit. We had been running ourselves ragged all day so it was really nice that even though she had a line forming, she didn't rush through the transaction....she wanted to know how our day was, if we've tried the wine before, what the wine was for..etc; etc;.
