The service was great. The girl working there was able to tell you more about the beers and very friendly and sweet. I would say her name but I don't want to misspell it but it was Hawaiian name. The…read moreatmosphere was nice, and I'm always willing to try somewhere new, especially when there's live jazz and comedy. That said, I was a little disappointed to find out that even with a reserved table, there's a $30 minimum if you want to stay for the jazz, and a $25 minimum for the comedy. I understand businesses have minimums, but personally, I prefer places where I can come in, relax, listen to the music, and decide what I want to spend without feeling pressured--especially when I'm experiencing a band or comedian for the first time and don't know what to expect. The waitress was okay, although there were a few assumptions made during my visit that I didn't feel were appropriate. I'm glad I checked it out and experienced it for myself. It just probably isn't somewhere I'll return to. I'm looking for more of a laid-back, come-as-you-are kind of spot where I can enjoy the entertainment without feeling obligated to meet a spending minimum. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! At least now I know.

My husband found this place and was interested because of the live music and it being a jazz place. We ubered there which seemed smart because it's street parking and seemed quite limited. There's a $5 cover on Fridays and Saturdays (I think they have live music both days) and we did not have a reservation. I think if you have a reservation you can get a table in their back area. We were up front with the band. It's a pretty small place, maybe about 5 or 6 high top tables in the front, the bar toward the back, and that back room which we didn't look in. We cozied up until someone left a high top and then hung out there. We ordered some drinks that were specials for the night and some that were regularly on the menu. We had a great time! Drinks were good, I think also reasonably priced. Music went from 7pm to 10pm and we got there around 7:30 and it was good and busy! This definitely feels like a family joint, their mascot is their little chihuahua Wishbone and I love that so much. Owners were fun, kept things going while the band was on break, just overall a really good time. I'm not much of a drinker so I can't speak to the types of liquor, but I definitely was feeling my drinks and couldn't finish my 3rd. If we lived here I think this would become a regular spot for us. What a fun time!

That said, after multiple visits, the service has consistently been the weak point. It can be slow and doesn't quite match the upscale experience or price point you'd expect from a rooftop like this. At these prices, I'd expect a level of service closer to what you'd receive at a high-end resort, and unfortunately it hasn't been there. You're definitely paying a premium for the location and view. I'd still recommend checking it out, especially for drinks, sunset, or a date night, but keep your expectations realistic when it comes to service and value.

It's beautiful at the top, we didn't really have a great view from our seats - but it also seemed like if you are a larger group there isn't too many options. The main area seemed to be more shaded than the pool area, so half our group was in the sun and the other half were shaded, thankfully there was a breeze! We specifically went for the happy hour drinks and they were delicious!!! Service was good - our waitress was friendly. I will recommend this place to anyone visiting the area on the future!

I have never heard of this brewery, although I don't get up to Oceanside very often, but it's definitely a place I wouldn't mind coming back to again. It's located just South of the 76 off a quiet little street and is a relatively small place, but all the beers I tried tasted great and the owner Tomas seems like a very personable guy who takes pride in his business. I don't recall offhand how many beers they have on tap, but I want to say it was at least 18 or 20 beers. They also have recommended mixed beers too. For instance, Tomas mixed one of their IPA's with one of their orange flavored beers and it was pretty good. The ambiance here is nice and I could see it being a place to take a date, or for group settings like we were in on Saturday. It seems like they have a following of regular patrons too which I always like to see at bars and breweries. All in all a great place with a genuinely nice owner who takes pride in his business and what he does. Would recommend and hope to make it up here again sometime.

This is one of Oceanside's oldest breweries. They keep to the old ways of making craft beer but still bring out more current flavors. They have over 20 beers on tap and a nice variety to choose from. This place is dog friendly and I enjoyed getting the chance to pet everyone's dog. Such a great find!

And if you are a fan of dark, heavy, and/or bourbon barrel beers like me, the Corylus is a grand slam. It is both delicious and extremely boozy so bring along a designated driver to avoid a DUI. They probably had 20 beers or more to pick from with a heavy emphasis on the IPAs--shocker, I know. I am not a huge IPA guy but if it is good, it is good. The place is airy and comfortable. It is also family friendly. They offer a variety of empanadas, if you want some food with your beer. We tried a few of them and the ham and cheese version was the clear winner. Honestly, the empanadas were nothing special and, my guess is, they were originally frozen. I eat a ton of frozen food so I am not being critical of frozen foods, ok? I liked them but I didn't love them. Parking on the weekend is extremely tough in Carlsbad but the nearby train station has a parking lot that stretches for miles. I imagine it is supposed to be used only for train customers but everyone parks there and it is freeeeeee. Very nice beer and very comfortable environment. They also offer a number of refrigerated canned beers for sale.
