We covered 10 miles before returning the bikes. Although the rental was a bit pricey (hence the 4-star rating), we enjoyed a scenic trail along the Fox River from Batavia to St. Charles. This is an excellent place to test drive e-bikes if you're considering purchasing one.

Bought a Mokwheel Scoria from this establishment. The bike works well but had a minor mishap that…read moreresulted in a brake sensor cable getting broken. This is a 9" long, two conductor cable that runs from the brake handle to the control wire harness. I tells the controller when the brake is being applied so the controller can shut off the motor and light up the brake light. This is a 2-pin cable with proprietary connectors on either end. I called Boj-E-Bikes to have them mail me a replacement cable (I live 1.5 hours away from their shop). First I was told to bring the bike in. I explained that the only problem was the broken connector (I had swapped the identical cable from the other brake for the broken one and the brake worked fine). I further explained that it would be three hours of driving for me and asked if they could just send me a cable and I'd pay with a credit card. After a short hold the person at Boj-E-Bikes came back on the phone and indicated they could do that but it would be about $100 (including shipping) but they didn't have any in stock. I said "wait a minute, we're talking about a 9", two conductor cable you can send in an envelope, and it will cost me $100!!" That's what I'm being told, was his reply. I obviously said no thanks...click. I emailed Mokewheel asking if I could purchase a replacement cable from them directly. They responded with 2 hours with a link to a purchase order page already filled out and simply waiting for my CC information. The cable was $15, shipping was $10 for a grand total of $25. Still a little pricey, but it's the correct part and will take about 30 seconds to install (the longest part being wrapping the cable retainer around it and the other cables on that side of the handle bar). Mokwheel provided top shelf service on their product. Boj-E-Bikes (which claims to have great service) proved to me they don't know their handle bars from their axles when it comes to service. If after-the-sale service is important to you, think twice before dealing with these people.

And just before the start of an 100-mile organized ride in Wilmot, Wi! The nut had fallen of during a warm up ride, and the on site mobile bike shop didn't have a spare. He zip tied the cable to the frame and handed me the assembly. Fast forward two cycling seasons (did not ride last year due to injury. *unrelated to bike assembly )... On the first ride of this season, last month (July, 2015), my buddy got a flat tire after running over a piece of a shoe sole that had a nail in it. When the piece of sole fell out, the tire went completely flat. He started walking his bike, and we soon found ourselves at this new-ish bike shop. It was about a mile away. The only person in the place was Wylie. He was ultra helpful! He took care of my buddy's flat in no time! While we were waiting, I figured it was a good time to get my brake assembly fixed. I asked Wylie if he had a nut to repair my brake assembly. He said that he didn't think he did but would call a nearby shop (Sam's?) to see if they could help. I didn't have the assembly with me, but it was in my truck (~10 miles away). Wylie called the shop and said he could help. I told him I'd be back after we finished our ride to pick up the part. About 2hrs later, I stopped by the shop and Wylie had the part delivered within 5 minutes! He even put the brake assembly back on the bike for me! No charge! 5-star service! Good people! Wylie is awesome!

My "go to" bike shop for new purchases, tune-ups, and repairs is Sammy's. The staff is great, from…read moreSammy and John on the front end, and Elijah and team at the service desk. It's not often that the owner of a very busy community-based business will dedicate his/her time to ensuring you are very happy with your purchase. On top of that, Sammy will put whatever he is doing down when children come to the shop, even if it's to just say hi. Not too mention the chartable work that the shop supports in different ways... I personally like having a shop near my home where I can browse and dream about the best bikes in the industry. I have worked hard for 35 years and it's nice to reward myself with a dream bike once in a while. I think Sammy and John get more from the smile on my face on "New Bike Day" than the closing of the purchase. I will support this local business with all of my bicycling needs and recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a new bike or repair. Ciao!

Review of Sammy's My experience with Sammy's has been…read moreextremely disappointing and honestly heartbreaking. I want to outline the facts of what happened so others understand why I cannot recommend this shop. Over nine months ago, I pre-ordered a Colnago Y1RS. From the very beginning, I was given two different prices and was told that I would receive the bike on release day. That never happened. Throughout the entire wait, I checked in roughly once a month and was repeatedly told that the bike would arrive "next month." We are now at the end of the year, and the bike still has not arrived. Instead, I was recently offered the same model in a different color--again with a promise that it would be available in "a few more days." On top of that, the price I was initially emailed in my invoice suddenly increased by almost $2,000, with no clear explanation. When I asked why the price changed, I was told they couldn't give me a reason and that I could simply cancel my order if I didn't like it. After nearly a year of waiting, being given inconsistent information, and dealing with unexpected price changes, I am deeply disappointed. This was meant to be my retirement gift to myself after 22 years of military service, and the whole experience has left me feeling sad and frustrated. Based on what I've gone through, I personally would not recommend doing business with Sammy's. I sincerely hope that Colnago USA and Colnago Italy are aware of the customer experience issues happening at the retail level under their brand.

We rode to Mill Race to see if they had a replacement tire, which they did. The new tire and tube were installed and I also bought a spare tube to put in my bag. I also asked them to order another tire so that I could replace the front. I received notification that the tire was in. I went to pick it up and they had ordered the wrong tire. I asked for a refund and ordered my own. I used my spare tube when I changed the tire, so I went to Mill Race, today, to get a replacement spare tube. I brought the box from the tube and asked to buy another. Fortunately, I checked the tube box as it was being rung up as it was the wrong tube (schrader vs presta). When the Mill Race employee went to get the correct tube, he brought out 2 boxes and asked what size I needed. I told him to check the box that I brought in. "It's already been thrown out", he told me. I said I just brought it in a few minutes ago. Long story short, he sold me the wrong size, so I'll be going back tomorrow. Who knew buying tires and tubes for a common road bike would be so challenging.
