I attempted to call in an order for their…read morealcohol infused cupcakes 1 week in advance and the girl on the other line informed me I wasn't allowed to pick out the flavors and stated "it's just whatever two flavors we have that day" which doesn't make sense and just seemed like a bad business model to me. Why offer so many flavors if you don't get a choice? I called again the next day and thankfully got a different worker who shared my confusion with me about the first worker. They wrote down my order (I got 4 different flavors) and I was set to pick up. The day I picked up my cupcakes, I noticed they looked different from the online pictures (but whatever, they still looked cute). I also noticed they gave me a wrong flavor (I ordered chocolate whiskey and they gave me caramel something instead). I made the mistake known to the cashier but she looked so confused and said "yeah.. thats the chocolate whiskey" which it clearly wasn't because there was caramel slathered on top and did not match the online description and the in person display. I showed the cashier the description and referenced the in person display and the cashier still seemed confused and said "yeah... thats the chocolate whiskey. What would you like me to do?" And I had to spell it out for her and say "take these caramel ones out and replace them with the ones I ordered" and had to point and all and the cashier just said "oh okay." It was super weird and frustrating. Anyways, taste wise- the alcohol infused cupcakes don't really have a flavor of alcohol and the batter kind of tastes like the box mix. Super strange experience for mid to below mid tasting cupcakes.

Picture a European-style café mixed with a cool local dive. This place is open all day as a café, and every night it transforms into a live music venue. The café's instagram is @thenightowlfullerton, where a schedule of events are posted. I chatted with Joe, the owner, and he told me that this place has been around for 15 years! He runs a tight ship, and has so much passion for this incredible space for community and art. There are books at the front that you (or a small young person) can borrow and enjoy as you sip your drinks and share a pastry. The place is clean and cozy. I really enjoyed the berry latte that Joe suggested. The espresso quality is great, and the drink had the perfect level of sweetness to complement the flavor. I am really looking forward to visiting The Night Owl again---- and I am definitely staying for the music next time! Thank you Joe for creating such an amazing little cultural hub. The prices they charge are not worth what the actual coffee tastes like. But if you're looking for a place that has good vibes, then this place is definitely worth visiting.

I'm not sure if they changed the recipe or simply missed the filling in ours, but for something sold as a matcha cruffin, I expected an actual matcha presence beyond the topping. The Three Cheese Bagel, made with cheddar, cream cheese, and mozzarella, had good flavor but the texture was much too hard. We were dining in and had it warmed up, yet the bread was still tough and the cheese inside had already hardened. Service was fine, but nothing stood out. Overall, great selection and a nice space, but the pastries we tried were inconsistent.

People raved about the strawberry cheesecake. I was asked by multiple people where I got these cupcakes from. I had the chance to sample both, and honestly the triple chocolate was delicious as well. The cake is moist, the frosting buttery and not super sweet. I can see why the strawberry cheesecake was the star of the show among the parents, though. As for customer service - great! Cupcake ready when promised. Larry helped me carry my order to the car, and gave me good instructions on care and transport. I would order from him again for any event.

I'm not sure if it was just prepared incorrectly that day, but it felt like they're significantly better at brewing tea than making coffee. The baristas prioritize in-person orders. On multiple occasions, I've ordered 10-15 minutes before arriving and end up getting my drinks after customers who I see ordering in person. Pro tip: if you're in a rush, don't do a mobile order.

I liked that you can actually taste the coffee. I think since it has cold foam it's still on the sweeter side so if you don't like coffee too sweet maybe skip the foam.

Extremely disappointed with Beverly's Bakery. I paid $69.00 for a one-tier cake and expected a professionally made and properly packaged product, but what I received fell far below those expectations. First, the cake was packaged improperly. Rather than providing a box that fully fit and protected the cake, I was given what appeared to be only half a box, leaving the top of the cake exposed and uncovered. This not only looked unprofessional but also raised concerns about the cake being exposed to dirt, dust, and contamination during transport. For a bakery that specializes in custom cakes, proper packaging should be a basic standard. The cake itself looked rushed and poorly finished. The icing was uneven, rough, and lacked the smooth, polished appearance that customers expect when paying premium prices. Instead of looking professionally decorated, it appeared hastily assembled and unfinished. What made matters worse was finding a single cookie crumble on top of the cake. This was not part of the cake's design, decoration, or flavor that I ordered. Because it clearly did not belong there, it raised concerns about cleanliness and quality control during preparation and handling. While it may seem minor on its own, details matter when customers are paying premium prices for a professionally made cake. For $69.00, I expected attention to detail, quality workmanship, and packaging that would properly protect the product. Instead, I received a cake that looked sloppy, unfinished, and carelessly handled. First of all I never review places but I feel like everyone should know to save their time and money. I went in and ordered a cake for my one year anniversary. I should them a picture of my wedding cake and I asked if they could make a mini duplicate of it. I even pointed at a cake on the bakery that looked the same. Very simple square cake with 5 layers, i asked For two Placed my order and paid $60 for it. I asked for a receipt she told me they give it to you when you pick it up. I never got to see what she wrote down for my order. I went today to pick up the cake not only was it tiny but it was just one layer! I asked for two!! When I told the girl I asked for it to be bigger and layered she said that I would have spent more money which I could careless of I get what I paid for. When I told the girl that it's not what I wanted all she said was this is what we have for you and the inside was layered. I can't believe the attitude and service so disappointed. Now that I have it home, I find hair in my icing, what is this? How can a business charge $60 for a cake that feeds 4 ppl and have hair in it. read more

Beverly's Bakery absolutely exceeded every expectation for our wedding cake! Not only was our cake beautiful, but it was also one of the most delicious cakes we've ever had. We received so many compliments from our guests, and people are still talking about how amazing it tasted! We chose three flavors so everyone could enjoy something different: funfetti cake with chocolate Bavarian cream, lemon cake with raspberry mousse, and chocolate cake with mocha Bavarian cream. Every single flavor was incredible--moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It was impossible to pick a favorite because they were all so delicious. The team at Beverly's Bakery was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. They were professional, accommodating, and helped bring our vision to life while creating a cake that was every bit as stunning as it was delicious. They did a fantastic job! On Monday, I called to see if they could have a carrot cake for my wife's birthday on Thursday. You see, during this pandemic, our whole family has gotten into Minecraft (okay, that is a lie, we were all already avid players long before it, but the pandemic leveled up the obsession). And each of us plays the game differently. Her unique approach is to optimize tool and resource usage so that she'll barely be able to gather enough to create a minimum base, and to also figure out why leather armor is in the game, to find some scenario where it's useful (the rest of us, we jump right to iron armor). And so, I asked for the cake to show her as a Minecraft character in leather armor. I found a few pictures they could use as reference, but they needed to take elements from each, so I was a little worried, but it came out beautifully and tasted delicious as well! CAN I SAY....AWFUL?!!!? The baked goods are ok...went there a few times through referrals. However, I went to purchase some goodies for my friend who had a baby and boy, the SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! The lady behind the counter was really impatient and looked so annoyed when I was trying to decide which baked goods to buy. She was rude, unhelpful and obviously needed to get to more important things. Only 2 people behind me too! I was ready to call for the owner, and then another lady said.."Beverly" and asked her a question. So it was Beverly....NOT AT HER BEST!!! SUCKY SERVICE and SO SO baked goods! I've been a customer of Beverly's Best for over 10 years. They messed up a face-to-face cake order, and I remained a customer. They lost a phone order, and I still remained a customer. I ordered a wedding cake here and they got the flavors of the cake right but the colors were 100% off. I had to call and confirm 3 times that I wanted pink roses on my cake with silver ribbon and at first they thought it was silver flowers with purple ribbon. Not sure if she feeling well or not but I also has my wedding coordinator call them and tell them I wanted pink flowers. On my wedding day as I'm eating dinner... I looked to my left and there was my cake... Purple roses. I gave 2 stars because the cake didn't taste terrible but I hope they work on customer details especially if your paying almost a thousand dollars for a cake. read more

The ladies at Beverly made the cake-ordering experience a breeze. The cake itself was an absolute delight--a beautiful and delectable masterpiece. The flavors of frosting and fillings were so distinct and delightful that I couldn't resist trying the mango and raspberry flavors. They were both incredibly tasty and not too sweet. My sister even loved her cake for her wedding. Considering the number of people it served and a few extra guests, it was a perfect choice. I've definitely had better baked goods. They're not bad but I just wasn't blown away. The ordered a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. It was a bit dry and the frosting was way too sweet. The customer service left a lot to be desired. I was waiting to order while a customer was talking with the owner about her order. She was clearly not happy because the cake she ordered wasn't what they had talked about. The owner was completely rude and unapologetic. Customer service goes a long way in my book....I just might have to close the book on this bakery. read more

This is the only place I will ever go for cakes period. I got another wonderful cake for my son's 3rd birthday. It was a lemon cake with raspberry. OMG, delicious. Their sweet american buttercream it to die for. We ended up with more people attending our party than we thought so I had to pick up a cake from their display case. I have wanted to get a cake from here for a while. I got my chance. What a good selection of cakes already in the refrigerator when I got there. I got the cutest cake for my parents' anniversary. Three layers of moist confetti cake with three layers of creamy strawberry filling. And lots of pretty green ruffles of frosting with a ribbon in top! It was delicious too! Loved it! I'm amused at Kaci's 1 star review. Beverly's Bakery gave her exactly what she ordered, then embarrassed herself by complaining publicly online for her own mistake. My family has been coming here for years and have a 100% satisfaction rating for this business. I feel sorry for her husband who the cake was for. That poor guy has to live with her. read more

They also serve Thrify ice cream. All of this was fun, BUT as I walked in, I was hit with an unexpected awful smell. It wasn't burnt food or sugar, but more of a sewage smell. I don't know if it was a problem with the plumbing, but it was definitely off-putting. Nevertheless, I powered on. I asked about what available flavors they had for macarons. And this is where my quest to find the best macarons ended here. They had NONE available :/ Not wanting to leave 100% empty handed, I picked up a couple of their dipped Oreos. Sadly, there was nothing about them that stood out. I haven't decided if I want to come back in hopes of trying their macarons. If I do, I sure hope the shop smells better.
