I love the food and service here so I've updated my review with 5 stars. We ordered the beignets and shaksuka (catch of the day was cod.) The beignets were not your traditional beignets from New Orleans. It's their version which was crispy like a Thai donut on the outside but light and chewy inside. The chewiness reminded me of mochi. The matcha and black sesame sauce were divine! Not too sweet and creamy . I could just eat the sauce and be happy LOL. I truly enjoyed the Shaksuka. It's a tomato broth with poached egg and cod. The flakiness of the cod really complimented the egg in the broth. And the focaccia bread dipped in the broth was amazing . Their focaccia bread was crispy and light not dense like the traditional type. Only thing that bothered me were the flies. Since it's an open restaurant, there were flies. Had a great experience being my first time here. Went to have brunch with my sister right as the place opened before the rush came! We ordered the beignets, matcha tiramisu, cookie crunch French toast, hojicha latte, and pancakes with fruits. The beignets were perfectly doughy (reminded me of New Orleans) with a slight crunch on the outside, perfect with the creamy matcha and black sesame spread! The matcha tiramisu was so creamy and refreshing, and the hojicha latte was perfect, it reminded of our trip to Japan. The lemon curd on our French toast and pancakes was very tart, it overpowered the fruits and our meal, I would probably have it on the side next time. Overall, the service was so welcoming and top notched! They constantly check in on us and ensure their guests are taken care of. I also enjoyed their Stranger Things decor during the Halloween season. The shop is pretty big with plenty of sitting, but keep in mind that it'll get busy around brunch time, so I would recommend going right when they open to secure seating. 10/10 would recommend this place for brunch! i came here a second time during the weekday (tuesday) and while i had a good experience the first time, this time i didnt as much in terms of parking, people keep saying theres only street parking but theres a garage thats a 5min walk away and is super cheap ($1/hr during the day) the first time i went was on a saturday at 2pm and surprisingly they still had the beignets left which is why a lot of people visit this place, but when we came today (Tuesday) at 1pm, it was already sold out! :( what really dampened everything was the server's demeanor throughout our dining experience. i would say theyre a bit inconsistent with the service looking at the recent reviews. to preface, i am definitely not trying to be nitpicky as ive been a server myself so i always try to take everything into consideration. we had a european(?) man tend to us and i had asked if they still had the beignets available in which he curtly replied no its sold out, its kind of late. i wouldnt have minded if it was said light heartedly because we did come at 12:50-1pm, but he seemed annoyed that we had even asked that in the first place. he had this standoffish demeanor even towards the end which could be affected by the heat since they unfortunately had no AC (if they did, they did not turn it on despite being hot) but it was still disappointing to receive on our end. at the time we went, it wasnt busy either which is why i was a bit puzzled by it. comparing it to the first time i went, we had an amazing and attentive lady despite being super busy (and even got the famous beignets!) which is why we'd test our luck that day hence asking at the time we arrived. despite that, the food was decent but its on the slightly pricier side for a brunch spot. i would say their curry hamburg ($19) is a good meal for its value as the beef and eggs were tender! my bf got the pancakes ($16) and unfortunately you had to pay 3 extra dollars to add berries. they were super light and fluffy! even without the syrup, it was still a bit sweet which i enjoyed. I honestly would rate this 3 stars but feel badly leaving bad reviews for restaurants that really make an effort with their ingredients. The failure was in the food, Drinks: literally almost took a half hour to arrive and one was wrong when it finally arrived, they were average, matcha was the better one. Beignets: okay, nothing to write home about, not crispy or crunchy at all on the edges, just soft more like donut texture, and strangely not hot or warm even though they kept flying out of the kitchen, accompanied by 2 sauces, that were again just okay. Crab omelette: eggs on the wet side leaking out the sides. Mushroom chazuke: under seasoned, one note, but mushrooms cooked well- must get the chili sauce to help this one along US breakfast: rice was a disaster, mushy, under seasoned and the tomato sauce bland, and not hot at all, kind of warm. The sausage was the best part of the entire breakfast and was absolutely delicious- hot, juicy and well seasoned, the fried chicken was good too, and so was the bacon. I think the menu is a great concept, but execution falls short, things just need more flavor, to be heated properly, and salt missing in nearly everything. Once the plate arrived, the meat was basically raw. They did correct it, however, it took another 20 minutes. In the interim, the eggs and potatoes served on the plate were lukewarm at best. I also ordered one pancake, and it took 50 minutes to come out... One burnt pancake... I advise against falling for Instagram highlights. After waiting 45 minutes just to get seated at the bar, our waitress came over and casually told us they were out of beignets. While waiting (again), a bartender managed to splash dirty dishwater directly onto our faces while washing a cup. We got a quick "sorry," but it was honestly gross and not okay. They did offer to comp the new food, but of course, that meant more waiting. To top it off, they brought out the dessert (a sweet French toast) before the main dish -- so by the time we finally got to it, it wasn't even crunchy anymore. Adding salt to the injury, our poached egg came out as sunny side up. Huh? Overall, this place needs some serious staff training. The service was chaotic, uncoordinated, and careless. Unfortunately, the service experience really took away from the overall enjoyment, and that might be what holds this place back long-term. The gentleman at the front door was phenomenal - warm, welcoming, and efficient. However, our actual server (Asian female wearing glasses - no name tag, unfortunately) was completely disengaged and dismissive. My husband politely asked to add sauce/aioli for his omelette on the side. The request was either forgotten or ignored, and the food ended up being delivered by someone else entirely. When we realized the sauce was missing, we couldn't remember the name, so the person who brought the food went to ask our server -- who completely brushed it off and continued avoiding our table for the rest of the meal. No eye contact, no check-in, no follow-up. We never got the sauce, nor were we asked how everything was. As someone who worked as a server during college, I know firsthand how hectic things can get. But basic service -- like acknowledging a table, following up on a request, or just being attentive -- isn't too much to expect. This wasn't a busy or slammed shift, just a lack of care. I was never asked how I liked my meat cooked and "medium rare" would have been an improvement. Service was pretty good, except plates were delivered to wrong person. Came here today to celebrate my birthday with my beautiful friends! A couple of us saw this spot on an Instagram reel and decided it would be the perfect place to meet. Parking was a bit tricky even though we arrived early, but that's expected since the area is pretty busy. We all agreed the signage could be a little more visible, but once inside, the ambience completely won me over. The space is open, bright, and stylish, with those large garage-style windows that let in plenty of fresh air. It felt so inviting! I was the first to arrive and was greeted warmly right away. The staff seated me while I waited for my friends, and both of our servers were incredibly friendly and patient--especially as we took our sweet time chatting before ordering (what can I say, it had been a while since we'd seen each other! ). We started with drinks: a Hojicha Latte, Pumpkin Matcha Latte, and the House Cold Brew. To share, we ordered the Beignets. OMG--those beignets were heavenly! Soft, pillowy, and dusted in powdered sugar--not overly sweet--and served with black sesame mascarpone and matcha cream. The dips were so light and airy, the perfect complement. Honestly, I could've eaten the entire plate myself alongside my Hojicha Latte (my first time trying it, and I loved that roasted green tea flavor!). For our mains: I ordered the Mushroom Chazuke, One friend had the Duck & Waffle, And another got the Breakfast Tartine. The presentation on all three dishes was beautiful. My Mushroom Chazuke was a mushroom lover's dream--loaded with different varieties of mushrooms, Koshihikari rice, garlic chips, chives, and a delicate mushroom dashi. Our server poured the broth tableside, and the aroma alone was incredible. The clear broth was light yet packed with umami flavor--absolutely delicious and so comforting. The Duck & Waffle looked and smelled amazing! Crispy duck confit, passionfruit sauce, and chili crunch--my friend said it was one of her favorite dishes, and I believe her. And that Breakfast Tartine was picture-perfect: a thick slice of shokupan bread topped with perfectly scrambled eggs, avocado, and a glossy piece of candied bacon. Beautiful and drool-worthy! As I was opening my birthday gifts, our server noticed and surprised us with a sweet treat--a slice of that soft shokupan bread topped with matcha whipped cream, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Even though we were all so full, we devoured it. No regrets! Overall, I had the best experience here--friendly service, creative dishes, and the kind of food that makes you smile. Took my family for a quick brunch and was not disappointed. Was told the owners own the Thai place across the street so was already sure the food would be tasty. Loved the layout of the place, very chic. Service was immaculate, but could also tell they were going above and beyond since it was newly opened.
