This was our second trip to Betty; for Valentines. If I could I would actually give this 4.5 stars.
Here is a breakdown, before the Oooing and Aaahing.
Service: 5 stars. Sara is everything you want in a wait-person. Professional, friendly, knowledgable, very good at what she does. It was packed for Valentine's but you hardly noticed the hustle and bustle of the staff; extremely efficient and stealth. I have little preferences/differences for some of the food; I have every confidence, had we asked for the changes at ordering, they would have accommodated. They are that nice.
Ambience: VERY IMPORTANT. I'm not from Seattle, but find almost every restaurant in Seattle is loud, drafty and cold- Not Betty; perfect room temp, pitch perfect noise control.
Food/Libation: 4.5 stars. Oysters: great quality and size*; Hamburger: one of the best ever. EVER; Pork tenderloin: the meat was like butter, absolutely tender, flavorful, moist*; English toffee sticky pudding: rich and sweet; Rivarey Tempranillo wine: we've had before and enjoy it*. I would order all again, especially the hamburger. *I give it an overall 4.5 because ( most important to my preference) we prefer for the oysters to be served on ice. The salt got mixed in and overwhelmed the experience. The wine turned on us with certain foods and the chicories were a little too bitter for my taste.
Price/Menu: 5 stars. I think it is well priced and they have a little bit of something for everyone. I do not know if they have Gluten-free. I am sure they can accommodate. They're just that kind of place.
Oooing & Aaahing
Service was Amazing, our wait-person SARA: friendly, funny, knowledgable, attentive, fantastic recommendations-- They Have the BEST Staff, honestly nicest people, you want to invite them to join you. It was a little busier than our first go around, but it didn't hinder our food, service, conversation, or experience.
Betty is a great place for a dinner experience. You aren't rushed (our first visit, the food came out timely, but I couldn't believe how much time had gone by; we never felt hurried or rushed), you actually enjoy your meal and most importantly your company. DO NOT think they are slow- instead realize you are actually having a real dining experience...you know-- with real conversations (as in oral/verbal, not texting), enjoyment, relaxation. Don't know how they control the noise, but you don't have to yell or strain to listen, no matter how full the place is.
We ordered oysters, the hamburger, the pork tenderloin, English sticky toffee pudding and Rivarey Tempranillo wine (red)...Let me just say the HAMBURGER was 5 STARS. Absolute perfection. Cooked to perfection; medium rare ( a little more on the rare side): the quality of meat, the bun, the pickles, the frites...everything-- delicious. We are always searching for the best hamburger, Betty's is in the top 3 right now of the US (yes, we have had burgers in almost every state!). My tenderloin was so moist and flavorful, if I had closed my eyes, would almost have thought it was a filet mignon. I've never had a tenderloin cooked so perfectly. Our English toffee sticky pudding was to die for. Very rich, extremely sweet, we asked for a small scoop of ice cream to go with it, it was perfect. My only regret about the dessert was I forgot my left over.
My only recommendations are: the chicories that accompanied the tenderloin were a little too bitter for me; I know it was made perfectly to complement the tenderloin and it was exactly how it should be...I'm just not a fan of bitter. The wine was wonderful with the hamburger and the dessert (we had ordered it before with the ribeye, it was a great pairing), but the taste turned a little with the mignonette and the chicories; pair with non-acidic/bitter foods. Lastly, we really wished the oysters came on ice instead of salt. We had clumps of salt sticking to the shell and to the lemons; the salt overwhelmed the taste and texture of the oysters, but the quality of the oysters were perfect.
Thanks for a wonderful Valentine's treat. We would recommend to anyone and everyone. read more
