Better Buzz Coffee is such a great spot! We came two days in a row because the food and vibe were that good. I had the açaí bowls both days -- so fresh and delicious. The kids loved the croissants, and we also tried the breakfast sandwich and avocado toast, both of which were excellent. The decor is fun and modern, the service was friendly and quick, and the location is perfect for grabbing something good and then walking around. Love how innovative Bette Buzz is with their coffee. From Turkish lattes to horchata lattes, you can have a little taste of cultural coffee aspects. The vanilla latte is also incredible even though it's just an americano with a vanilla syrup. The ambiance is perfect for a weekend catch up or WFH spot with the large floor to ceiling windows that are often left open. I've been a fan of Better Buzz for years--what sets a truly great coffee shop apart isn't just the coffee (which, to be fair, is still solid here), but the people and the experience. That's what keeps customers coming back. Unfortunately, the Encinitas location seems to be losing sight of that. I visited the store this Saturday evening and was disappointed by both the cleanliness and the service. The front area where patrons sit to enjoy their drinks, chat, or get work done was dirty and clearly neglected. It doesn't take much to keep a space tidy, but it looked like no one had bothered to clean in a while. Even more frustrating was the attitude of the staff. A simple question about whether the Wi-Fi was working was met with an eye roll and zero initiative to check or assist. The store wasn't busy--no line, no rush--yet there was a complete lack of effort or courtesy. Customer service felt like an afterthought, if that. I'm a local and have supported Better Buzz for a long time, but if this is the direction the brand is heading as they continue to grow--detached staff and unclean stores--I'd rather take my business elsewhere. At least at Starbucks, I know I'll get a clean seat and someone willing to help. Do better, Better Buzz. read more

I spent the night at Twelve Senses Guest House with my Labrador on the way to San Diego to spend some time with friends and in the morning I walked down to Better Buzz and was happy to find how dog friendly the place was. I'd been before by myself and loved their coffee, but they greeted us and promptly asked if Theo could have a pupacino. He absolutely loved it and has since come to want to go into coffee shops after his experience with the various Better Buzz Coffee places I hit while in San Diego. Ok, this is a very simple review: Coffee quality: TEN STARS (is there such thing? Ok then it's the max...FIVE STARS) Staff competency: THREE STARS on the best day. I have been getting my coffee at the Encinitas location for at least 3+ years. I have tried so many places and this is, in my opinion, the best coffee in San Diego and beyond. I buy the beans and grind them at home. Super high quality coffee, never had a bad roast batch, super impressed and happy with it. Used to get my coffee beans at Peete's (which also has decent beans), Better Buzz is leagues ahead. It also makes Starbucks coffee below average. Staff competency, on the other hand, doesn't match the coffee quality; poorly trained people, they generally don't pay attention to specific instructions, can't handle out of the box requests. Parking is tough, be prepared to be looking for a spot around two blocks. If you want your beans ground there and you are (like I am) OCD with how fine or how coarse you want your beans ground, better think twice as they will not get them done properly. Always grind at home. Still, I am always coming back because of the super quality of Better Buzz coffee. read more

Better Buzz is always busy busy busy. We absolutely love going down to Encinitas on weekends when we have some spare time due to the small beach town vibe and the plethora of adorable cafes and eateries, ice cream/Gelato options and the wide array of coffee shops that span this 2 mile stretch of road. Although we have not tried all of them as of yet, Better Buzz sticks out to me due to the large and diverse menu of drinks. During our visit here, I opted to go with the iced vanilla bean latte, and it was strong and really flavorful. They didn't call this better Buzz for no reason as I remember this being a definite kick in the pants and definitely more of a wake up call then many other lattes which simply do not give you that jolt or burst of energy that I hope for. Despite trying to come back on a couple other occasions the line here is usually very long and there is simply nowhere to wait without being right in peoples personal space, so a return visit has not happened as of yet. I definitely look to get back soon to try the dark chocolate and white chocolate Mochas as well as the mint infused iced coffee and cinnamon cream cold brew, which both sound amazing to me. This is definitely a shop I hope to visit again soon and I truly hope at some point to see them expand into Orange County as well as I would love to see a closer location which I could get to more frequently. Check them out if you are ever in the area and see how they measure up for you amongst the stiff competition nearby. read more
