I stopped by on a Monday morning around 8ish and surprisingly it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be! While I was there I did notice that it started to get busier around 9ish. First off I'm a sucker for cute coffee shops, and Better Buzz definitely had nice aesthetics. The way the shop was decorated and arranged gave me a warm and inviting place to do some studying. And speaking of studying, if you need to use wifi, their connection is really great! Plus the staff were super friendly and helpful as well. I decided to get a vanilla bean latte and an acai bowl on my first visit. Four words: It was soooo goood! Everything was perfect! read more

Best drink ever and açaí bowl are my go to. The vibes of this coffee shop are great my only complaint would be I had to stand around for about 15-20 minutes before there was finally somewhere to sit with my two kids. It's pretty busy and high pace being that it's a popular location. read more

Get an iced best drink ever with half cream that's all I have to say. I am an avid coffee drinker, who mind you doesn't really like it sweet, and I'm in love with this drink. It has just enough of a coffee taste that I've grown to crave in the morning, but a nice vanilla sweetness to enjoy. I really want to try their other drinks but always find myself coming back to this. Maybe another time! The inside is absolutely gorgeous and is one of the best parts of the cafe. They have bright wordings on the wall and cute merchandise I want to buy in the future. It would be a perfect place to sit with some friends, have a first date, or take time to work/study. They are also very quick to get their line down, which is a big plus. It's always crowded so add some extra time before coming here. If you're looking to try a new coffee spot whether you live in the area or just visiting, definitely come here! I wish I was in San Diego more because I would be here every day. read more

This place really is as good as it gets! I live in Torrey Hills and do not mind the 15 minute drive and passing 12 Starbucks and 4 Coffee Beans on the way..ok slight exaggeration... for the best coffee and food! Their OG bowl (acai bowl) is hands down the best bowl in SD and I've been to many (many) places! They also have delicious avocado toast, sandwiches, juices, and of course an amazing coffee/tea selection. My favorite drink is the Mocha Buzz (which is similar to Coffee Bean's mocha iced blended-only on another level!!) The staff is so friendly and warm and the decor is adorable! If only I had my own VIP parking spot out front! One can dream! Keep it up BB Encinitas! You're the best location!!!! read more

I have visited this location two or three times. My most recent visit was less than stellar. I ordered one of the coffee brews of the day. I can't recall. The barista was very nice and knowledgeable. That's were the buck stops. I added "half & half to my ceramic mug. I questioned the label. I think it was milk. My first sip was my last. The coffee was weak. The water to coffee ratio was terrible. Very watered down. I was not happy. I was in a hurry to leave so I just walked out leaving the full mug on the table and wasted $2.53. In addition, the floor below the high top seat I sat at was full of food. read more

I had never been in a Better Buzz Coffee, but I had heard the buzz about their other locations. When they had arrived in Encinitas, I was buzzed. Oddly, when I first stepped in, I didn't feel like I was in Encinitas or San Diego for that matter. This is not a bad thing, but I was taken somewhere else. Interior decorations alone was enough to transport me: I dig it. Where was I then? Some metropolis, no doubt. Bay Area? Apart from the decor, the place was abuzz. Plenty of places to sit and yet still maintain your personal space but still be amidst all of it to be the center of the storm. The open storefront is nice since once has full view of Coast Highway 101; perfect for people watching. Why not enjoy your surroundings with a cup of coffee? Thanks. read more

Better Buzzed has stolen my heart. Absolutely obsessed with this place! The BDE is always the perfect pick me up. The decor is beautiful. I met two girlfriends for Sunday breakfast here and was so sorry I suggested it. It was my first time and the decor is really nice, but that is as good as it gets. Granted it was 9:00 and fairly busy but the customer service was horrible. We all ordered separately. I ordered hot tea and completely understand this is a little unusual for a coffee place so I asked what they had. The woman at the register answered red, green and black... so I chose black and inquired further. She pointed to a shelf behind the counter about 20 ft away and instructed me to walk to the back of the store. I had to go inside the coffee station to read the labels. I then went back and gave her the name. She had no idea what I was asking for so I had to point it out on the self . I asked for it in a to-go cup and also ordered a BHBB ( almond butter, banana, bacon on toast) . When I went to the table I noticed both of my friends had been given a number for their food order so I returned to the register and asked for a food order number. I was told I did not need one and they would call my name. About 5 mins later my name was called for the tea, which was good btw, but no food. The woman behind the counter said she would check on it for me. After about 30 min the food orders arrived for my two friends ( that is 30 min for an order of toast with avocado, feta and tomatoes.) I again asked the server where my food was and why I did not have a number. At this point I told her again what I had ordered and she gave me a number. About 10 mins later a young man came with another Avocado toast dish for me to which I informed him that was not my order. Again the same server came with the same avocado dish and asked what I ordered. She apologized and left the dish for my friend (I do not like avocados) She then realized my BHBB had been put in a to-go package and had been sitting in the back. At this point it has been 50 mins since I placed my order, both of my friends have finished their breakfast, and she brings my order cold and in the to-go box it had been sitting in. Then proceeds to offer me a free coffee ( which I tell her I don't drink coffee) but she can bring another cappuccino for my friend. I finished the BHBB which I liked even cold but the cappuccino never showed up. It's too bad this place is cute with fun decor and a nice vibe. The coffee and food were decent but I just can't take the oblivious staff and horrible service. One of my girlfriends had been here before at 7:00 on a Sunday morning with no customers and experienced the same slow service. With so many great coffee places in Encinitas we all agreed we will not be coming back! read more

Who doesn't love Encinitas? Who doesn't love a great cuppa coffee in the morning? Both are available at better buzz on the 101. But if you think you're going to pull this off in a few short minutes, think again. Even if you manage to find parking, be prepared to wait. Although the staff is great, the wait was almost 20 minutes for a drip coffee. Pro tip: order online. read more

Stopped here on a lovely Sunday morning for coffee and breakfast. Ordered the a medium coffee and their breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwich was hefty with great fried egg, bacon, cheese and some yummy spicy sauce all on a thick ciabatta. Coffee www super yummy and I love the setup in their with a mix of high long community tables, individual small tables, group tables and open air windows that look out onto the street. I also saw some of their feta and tomato toast come out and acai bowls come out that looked delicious as well... Stop by!! read more

In addition the baristas were super friendly and relaxed for a grand opening day. I had an iced best drink ever with a chocolate croissant. Better Buzz, please teach your young baristas the importance of making drinks in the order they come in. Watching other customers get their drink first who ordered after you is irritating and contributes to poor customer service. Coffee the best!!! It's not all sugar like the other coffee shop... if you know what I mean service ambience food. Parking sucks though

I visit this location frequently because I live in La Jolla Colony and go to school in San Marcos. I can be seen here weekly slaving away on homework because, grad school. I wanted to update my review due to several encounters with the same barista. Unfortunately the baristas don't wear nametags, however, a fellow Yelper posted a photo of him and mentioned him by name so I was able to use my Harriet the Spy skills circa 1996. Jonathan has provided stellar customer service not only to myself, but in every interaction I observe while waiting for my coffee. My boyfriend and I stopped by here on Sunday because I had to meet with my group on campus. I was exhausted and in desperate need of caffeine. The line was super long and full of dads with strollers which almost made my ovaries hurt but mostly made me appreciate my IUD. It took forever to get our drinks. When I finally arrived to campus I was walking with my books and boom! my coffee went flying in slow motion for me. But, unlike Juvenile, I DON'T like it like that and I didn't know how to act. I lost my large best drink ever and had to talk about elder abuse for TWO hours without coffee. It was rough, but I survived and drove immediately to the San Marcos Better Buzz drive-thru afterwards. Anyway. BACK TO JONATHAN. Aside from Jonathan's great hair, his customer service skills are exceptional! I've seen him hand out stickers to children and explain things so calmly to customers. Like when the dummy next to us wasn't paying attention as his drink got called out for 10 minutes. He wanted his espresso in a different size cup and Jonathan calmly explained why it was in that size cup, etc. but made it again. I worked at Starbucks for 6 years and I applaud Jonathan for keeping calm during stressful and high volume morning rushes, while simultaneously creating friendly interactions with every single customer. ALSO: someone named Daniel replied to my last post so DAMNNNNN DANIEL, back at it again with the yelp posts? But on a serious note, can you guys open up a location in La Jolla? read more

Awesome spot to grab a coffee and a snack, the whole front of the store was basically open air as would be expected in Encinitas. I took a drive to meet up with two high school friends I hadn't seen in almost 20 years, and got the "Best Drink Ever" even though I had no idea what it even was. I'm still not sure but it was delicious. It seem like a total hipster vibe but I'm not quite sure if that is California in general or more specific to the spot. Either way I would go back again. read more

Talks the talk, but does not walk the walk. . . Better Buzz occupies the unhappy middle ground between the cheap but blah Starbucks coffee and the excellent but pricier stuff at hifalutin coffee joints like Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, or Intelligentsia in LA. Better Buzz has all the accoutrements of the latter (e.g. mad scientist coffee gear, fancy espresso machine that looks like an airplane, etc.), but the end product is disappointing. I had a cappuccino and the wife had a mint mojito iced coffee. The cappuccino was more burnt-tasting than the Starbucks equivalent and the mint mojito was overly sweet. Blah on both accounts. The food was better- the avo toast on sourdough was downright good. The OG acai bowl was also pretty decent. But even this was marred by some pretty slow service. Indeed, it was a busy Sunday morning. But it took 15 minutes, along with a server who walked around looking for our number as we frantically waved at him (with the number and with our hands). The last buzzkill was the number of flies buzzing about. When I think about Better Buzz, a veritable cloud of flies inside the place was not what I was thinking about. If the service was a touch faster, I wouldn't mind grabbing breakfast at this place. But the coffee really needs some work. read more

Love this place! How can you go wrong with "The Best Drink Ever." Hot or cold, it doesn't matter. It does get a little busy here (especially when tourists are in town), but it's worth the wait. The crew busts their @$$ to keep it rolling. 5 stars! read more

My sister asked me to go here and we ordered the Americano. Before coming here, I didn't even know what it is, but I knew there was some hype about it. It was a Saturday and the line was out the door. I looked at the menu and I didn't even know how to order. I looked at the food and wondered, why people paid so much for avocado on toast. Anyways, the coffee was delicious. I am a huge coffee drinker. I live off of black coffee and sugar. I've never had an Americano before and now it's the only thing I order if I see it on a menu. Not gonna lie, the coffee is delicious, but I just feel so awkward ordering from there. I think it's because I'm not a "hipster." I agree with the hype, the coffee was great! read more

The vibe is great there, but... the specialty drinks are waaay to sweet and appeared to me many of the flavorings are artificial. their vanilla powder has like 30 ingredients. what ever happened to natural vanilla flavoring? Maybe I'm old school, but I prefer natural flavorings and something that isn't going to give me type 2 diabetes by the time i'm 40. oh wait....50. i know, i know, i can ask for half-sweet or whatever. but usually the flavor and the sugar come together, so less sugar means less flavor. i want the flavor, i just don't want so much sugar. get it? read more

Aside from the looks, I don't know what the buzz is about. A coffee and a chai took about 15 minutes, the coffee was weak and lukewarm, the chai was so sweet it was undrinkable. The scone was dry and fairly tasteless aside from lots of sugar. Our seats at the window in the morning sun were nice though. read more

I've come here a few times and it's been a hit or miss on multiple occasions. Some days they're right on target and totally make my coffee great, other times it taste burnt or is overly sweet. In a town overloaded with coffee spots this is just okay in my book. The interior is stylish and modern with big open windows but the little tables are always full with people camping out for hours. The communal tables are ok (not always super clean) but it's just not as relaxing or private as having your own table. As for the coffee, I really didn't care for the regular brew. The iced blended drinks are absolute sugar bombs. Most of the latte flavored options are overly sweet too. read more

I was super early for work so i decided to yelp a good coffee place near my work. I chose this place. The interior was super cute and clean. I loved the atmosphere of the coffee shop but that's about all that I liked. I ordered the peppermint mocha, this was alright nothing to complain about. The reason I'm writing this yelp review is for the nutella toast that i ordered and then received with what seemed like 2 day old bread... I got the toast Togo and ate it when i parked at work which was about 4 blocks away. I went to pull apart the 2 pieces, and i couldn't even RIP apart the bread. I just about broke my teeth trying to eat the bread since it was so hard. This was very disappointing especially since i spent 5 bucks on toast that almost chipped my teeth read more

UPDATE: I got a gift card for Better Buzz... So I'm back. And guess what? Waaaay less coffee-snob attitude today. Actually very pleasant coffee folk behind the bar. And behold, a large iced coffee, with zero sass. My ban of this place has been lifted! . . . Today will be my last time going here. Although the decor and atmosphere is great, the service was disappointing. "Large ice coffee please"... The brunette cashier was a bit rude and said they didn't have that. (Wait, what?). She rambled off other drinks, rolled her eyes and gave me something that she said was a small but just added a lot of ice into a large cup. (Okay, uh, thanks?) Hit up Honeys on the next block down.
