I try to support black business but the customer service needs to be up to par. If you aren't accepting phone orders don't answer the phone. The time it took someone to answer the phone and say the message I could have simply placed my order for 20 wings. All 'bout dat Honey Wing! Stuck on a business trip eating catered hotel food all week, I had to sneak away from the co-workers one night to have some real food. Hearing that the best wings in Daytona Beach might be at Bethune Grill, I made it my goal to find this place. Bethune Grill is a homey chicken joint that is within walking distance of Bethune Cookman University. I came after 9 p.m. on a weeknight and it was packed but everything moves fast. There was short line to order and about 15 others waiting for their already placed orders. There are two rooms, one where you order with the kitchen in back, and a second room to the left with seating for about 20-25 people. They are known for their Honey Wings, so I had to cop that. 12 Wings w/Fries and Roll ($9.50) - They let me get half and half, so I went with half Buffalo Wings and half Honey Wings. The buffalo wings were very good... Tangy, light heat, rich in buffaloness and the sauce wasn't too chunky or too watery. The honey wings are out of this world. First of all try finding honey wings! Not many places make them. They take a hot, crispy wing then toss it in their magic red orange honey sauce. What you get is a sweet but not sticky wing that isn't spicy but isn't only sugar or honey either. The sauce itself is very oily, but tossed with the wings, you don't feel or taste it and it helps the wings to not stick to each other (No Panda Express stuck bunches of Orange Chicken here!) There's something extra that gives it more that I can't pinpoint. The combo also comes with small square soft roll and a good amount of fries. The fries could have been better, they were soft... I prefer them fried longer. Mac 'n' Cheese - Macaroni elbows in a cheese sauce that hardens up some when at room temperature. This is a homemade dish, but overall it didn't stand out to me. I'll pass on this next time. Bethune Grill has other goodies. Fried porkchops, fried tilapia, chicken strips, chicken nuggets, fried butterfly shrimp, coleslaw, potato salad, cheese sticks, banana pudding and sweet tea. I have so many questions. What makes the honey wing sauce red? How many ingredients go into this? Who created this recipe? If you like sweet wings or the thought of honey wings, Bethune Grill is a must stop destination. Their buffalo wings are also the shizz, but I guarantee you that their honey wings are something you haven't ever had before. I came after 9 p.m. on a weeknight. The restaurant is totally safe, but given the neighborhood, I recommend coming earlier in the day to avoid the sketch in the surrounding area. The staff is super friendly, it felt like going into someone's home and sitting down in their kitchen and just hanging out. It's always busy here but the food comes out quickly. It only took about 10 minutes to receive my food after ordering. Best of all, if you find yourself loving the wings, you can take home a 14 ounce bottle of Shamps Honey Wing sauce for only $6. It's a golden red bottle of goodness that glistens like a lava lamp. I bought two bottles for the road home. They are so good that TSA even opened my checked bag to have a look at the magic potions! read more

We wanted to get some good wings and we learned about Bethune grill. It was great being able to visit a location near the campus. Small hole in the wall joint with incredible wings. It's all about the sauce which is just delicious on anything. This place only deserves five stars if I could rate them a 6 I would. First off, it's a really cute local spot with just enough parking in a centralized spot. They did a great job of allowing a certain number of people in at a time they have a really good system going they're extremely mindful of the regulations. As a customer you do appreciate all the efforts that an establishment can make to keep everyone safe. I was more impressed with their ordering/ pick up / payment system than some of these big restaurant chains. Everyone has a job they know what to do and it runs smoothly. We ordered 20 wings half honey half buffalo the pork chop sandwich and the shrimp dipped . It was cooked quickly it was packed beautifully we were in and out once we arrived at the hotel opened everything up the order was 100% and very delicious and hot. The storefront is small, so you go in, stand in line to order, then stand in another line to pay. Then you go outside and wait for them to call your name. Then you go back in and stand in a third line (which is in between the "order" and "pay" lines to pick up your order. TOO MANY TIMES, I have heard about this place from EVERYONE that attended Bethune Cookman and everytime I say I'm coming to this restaurant I forgot. This time I didn't, so I realized that the restaurant is very small and people were just hanging out outside, it seemed a bit unorganized to me. I went in and ordered my meal. I was told a 40 minute wait which was fine understanding that it was a busy Friday evening. When I can collect my order. I was missing one of the orders which I had to turn around and come back for. It showed a little bit of sloppiness on their part. It was an honest mistake anyway so I let it pass. The food was amazing, I waited about 45 minutes to eat it but the french fries were to perfection and the chicken was just as good as well. I got the honey wings and I must say they were worth the wait. If I had anything negative for this restaurant it would be that they need to improve how they do service, it's a little sloppy and all over the place. For a newcomer like myself I was a bit confused About the menu, sides, extra charges etc. The next step should be to properly fixing the menu in the manner in which they do you business. Okay okay okay I was not expecting this but Hunty Bethune Grill's wings were DELICIOUS. #1. Their wings were the right size (no steroids nor were they DINOSAUR size Ughhh) #2. Perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection #3.That HONEY Buffalo sauce was so tasty and a flavorful addition which made them the best wings I have had in a long time.
