I called to schedule a move and pick up boxes. They told me they don't keep the boxes at the store-front, but a truck will come by and drop them off. In the morning they come in and look around to get an estimate on how many boxes I need. I have a sparse 1 bedroom amount of stuff, and I told them I was donating all of my dishes to charity. They come in with about 40 boxes, 12 rolls of tape, and enough packing paper to pack up a catering companies dishes. $130. I told him that was way more than I need, didn't need the packing paper, or tape, and only needed 15 boxes. Total? $100, but he had to call in. Then the guy on the phone said it was $125 because he forgot to add tax. I'm not certain where tax is 25% in Houston. I'm also not certain how removing more than half the boxes and supplies only dropped it by 25%. Home depot has the same boxes for $1-2 each, I'm going there. read more

The movers were great. They were efficient and courteous. However, I was quite concerned about providing my cc information, including the 3 digit code on the back of the card, over the telephone to the movers' supervisor. (They specifically only took cc over the telephone or cash. Who carries $500 in cash these days?) My fears were confirmed two days later when my bank called to tell me that they had just denied a cc transaction originating in a location a few thousand miles from H-town. Coincidence? DONT WASTE YOUR TIME RASIST, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! they came a hour late and told me it was because they had to get coffee. My move was at 8am they arrived at 9:20am I kept calling asking how much longer because I had some people coming to clean my house after the move so time was important to me. He kept cutting me off saying ma'am ma'am ma'am I said there on there way, Then hung up in my face. shorty after he hung up on me the movers arrived.He spoke very little English and handed me a paper that said 190 dollars a hour instead of $95 per hr I told him I wouldn't sign the paper because Thats not what I thought the price was the mover couldn't explain to me why the paper said 190 per hr instead of 95 so he called his manager back. The manager asked "who I'm I speaking with" I told him this is The same woman you just hung up on. He responded by saying ma'am If were starting on a bad foot I can just cancel this move I'm gonna just cancel this move. so by this time I'm furious your late, being rude, and Threatening to cancel my move after I've been waiting here for an hour. at this point I'm yelling because I'm angry he's threatening to cancel my move (anyone moving knows that this is already a frustrating process and the last thing you want to hear is your move is gonna be canceled) I kicked the one mover out of my house and threw the paper. The mover who's phone I had ran back in my house to grab his phone and left. After they left the manager called back and told my husband I was rude and he couldn't have that. My husband hung up on him and said your guys are already gone and you cancelled the move so I don't understand why your calling back. soon after that one of the drivers called back and called me a black piece of shit. Their rate is good. However, they sent guys who are too slow. 3 men: one is ok but the other two were doing nothing. Whenever I checked to see what they were doing I found them in their truck waiting for the first one to finish their job. They also couldn't assemble my furniture except a bed and still left some of the wrapping paper on the bed that I have to left the bed by myself to remove it. The okay guy told me he once spent two hours trying to assemble a piece of furniture for a lady who cried when he took all that time! When I called Alex, he was very unprofessional and tried to find excuses for them. So I literally just had to turn these guys around so I wouldn't be charged $200 for a hour worth of work. First let me start by saying, the movers were complete gentlemen & I appreciate them coming out, eager to work. However, my quarrel was with the owner/manager/ whoever tf he is "Alex". My move was scheduled for 4pm. My new place of residence gave me til 8pm to move so naturally I thought, that's more than enough time to move a 1 bedroom apt. This mf didn't get anyone to me til 6:45pm then tells me that there's no way he's going to waiver on the price because there's a 2 hour minimum. My question to him was "How do you expect me to pay $200 for an incomplete job??" (I remind you, the movers have to stop by 8pm, got to my place @ 6:45pm, still have to load my belongings which may have taken a hour max, drive 20 min to the new place & unload.) This sorry excuse for a business owner tells me "You can either take it or leave it because these guys got another move to do." I declined his services & I hope his business fails tremendously. I know he's happy with all the money he's making from moving the hurricane victims right now & I'm a firm believer that the customer IS NOT always right but this is a discussing way of conducting a business. My move was scheduled to start at 1 pm because they were booked for the morning already. I got a call at 9am to ask if I want to add a man to make it faster and I agreed. They didn't show up at 1 so by 1:30 I called and he said they were running very late because the person had a storage to move they didn't know about so it would be 4 more hours and they actually didn't show up until 7pm!!!! so unprofessional and rude not to have let me know earlier that they would be delayed so I could try to find someone else. So they get there and start and we discuss what to load first and they are taking all furniture and then a lot of boxes. They got it all but broke the leg on my BRAND NEW ARM CHAIR due to carelessness! I literally had only sat in the chair twice for short while. After all this stressful day I was over it and their carelessness. I wanted my chair repaired and they agreed but neglected to take it with them when they left. So we finished at about 11 pm and it cost a lot more than originally quoted because they charged a clean the truck fee even though we didn't use any blankets or things to get it dirty. Then they were suppose to pick up the chair for repair the next day and didn't come get it and then the next day and didn't come then either so finally they were coming to pick it up from the new place and at last minute the guy that was suppose to be picking it up said he sent his parents and they came to pick it up. Seriously unprofessional. They took the chair and it took 3WEEKS to get it back and it's the correct shape and color but the wood grain is completely different so it doesn't look right but better than just $.60 cents a pound for damages. ‍ DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! Not only did they steal from me, they punched a hole in the wall, that they promised to fix and didn't, but the moved me twice, on a Sunday the moved me from my ex's home to my landlords garage, then the next Sunday they were to be there by 5 to move me to the house I was moving to. They not only way overcharged for the first move, but at about 5:15 the next Sunday I called them to make sure they were still going to show up and Alex the owner told me that they couldn't unload their truck to come pick my things up but that they weren't going to...after my family waited for hours and moved what we could in our cars. Terrible service and unprofessional. Planned move with them 1.5 months in advance.. Called twice to verify that they were on and had material required: wrap, blankets, and clothes boxes as listed as free on their search. They showed up with none of this! After showing up late 45 minutes I told them to go get the promised material.. Their boss called and said they did not have any and I could go buy it for them.. I said, sure and you will knock it off my bill!! He said no and then became worried that I would charge him so they packed up and left. They said they would come back tomorrow.. After contact this company for a quote, they began to call me multiple times a day every single day for 3-4 days including Sunday. They were also emailing at least once a day every one of those days. After incessant calls, Santos (who I now know to be the owner) called and I told him that he had lost a chance at my business because of the borderline harassing style of phone calls they make. He then proceeded to tell me I could "do whatever the f**k I wanted" and to "f**k off." Now I don't expect someone who just learned they lost my business to be excited about it, but for the owner of a business that relies so heavily on customer service to have any inclination to treat a customer this way is very telling of how they must conduct themselves when there are issues with their customers. I wanted to warn any potential customers to stay away from this company and find another mover. There have got to be 100 in Houston and if you knowingly want to deal with a company who is owned by a man that will tell a prospective customer to F off, be my guest and enjoy the outcome of your move with this company. read more

The worst moving company and move I have ever had!! Interesting thing is thi FB page is only about moving and nothing from customers. Also, if you look at their website, there is not ONE REVIEW at all!!! When I decided to move, I talked to Alex of BestRate Movers and got a good quote. I called VIP movers, and their quote was slightly higher, but they were willing to match BestRate Moving's quote. Boy did I make a HUGE mistake by going with this company and not VIP, who has testimonials of how great they were, many that scrolled all down the left side of their web page...there were NONE on BestRate's site. But, I decided to be loyal and go with a Houston company, and I talked to Alex a couple of times. He was nice on the phone. I told him I needed to get moved today, as I have thyroid cancer and hemangioma's in my back that prevent me from doing nearly anything. I needed to move, as I need surgery very soon. Their website says firstly, which is a FRAUD "Guaranteed On-TIme and Delivery Dates". They were suppose to be at my apartment at 2:30, but they did not get there until 5:30. Alex threw in a 3rd mover, at no cost, since they were so late, but he may as well have saved the trouble. It took 3 guys roughly 4.5 hours to load a one bedroom with a study apartment of 800 sq. ft. The other thing they cite from their website is courteous and 'movers that wore uniforms'. This is farther from the truth. Heck, they could have stolen the truck for all I know, as they were neither professional in their business of moving me or in how they represent their company. Alex fussed at me on the phone and said "I had too much stuff, and that the movers took pictures and videos, and that the truck was full". Anytime I have moved, the truck has been full. That is beside the point. He knew what I had and knew the truck needed to be 26'. We specifically had that conversation over the phone. And, he threatened me that he was going to call the police on me and hung up. The movers really got much more rude after that phone call. Then, the lead mover told me that they were over 4 hours, which Alex told me I needed to pay, and for which I did pay for their services, and Jose told me they don't have time to unload the truck anymore. I was so upset at the thought of them threatening me, Alex and the mover, Jose. Well, I have a living room with an entertainment center, loveseat, sofa, and chair with ottoman; a study with 2 bookcases (and there were only 3 medium boxes of books). These bookcases are the lawyer's type that are 5 levels half with most made of glass except the sides and back (heck, I have moved them myself and I have back problems) a VERY SMALL desk, a filing cabinet, and a 2' x 2' x 1' 2 level bookcase that came with my desk and chair. I have a bedroom -- queen bed with mattress and box spring, a 3 level with 6 drawers dresser, and a 5 draw tall boy (which is only 5 feet high!). I actually gave a bunch of things away before I moved. I have acquired my furniture over the past 20 years, which would not even fit a house. I TOLD ALEX WHAT I HAD!!! These movers were so unprofessional, and downright rude. It was all I could do to get them to set up my bed, and the rest, they just dumped boxes in the kitchen to where I can hardly get in to get to the refrigerator, they crammed my living room furniture so tight I can't even use it. They just dumped all of my boxes in a terrible heap in my dining room and kitchen. They told me that they did not have time to help me place my furniture because they were over their time. Alex took my payment at 4 hours, because the movers and Alex told me he wanted to close out the move and go home. So, I did this. If they were not so busy taking pictures and videos of my personal belongings, maybe they would have made a proper and professional within appropriate time for a move of my size. When I moved from Pearland to right off of Nasa Road 1, with a 20 minute drive built in, I was moved and unloaded with my furniture BY TWO MOVERS so I could use it in THREE HOURS!!!!! I hired these guys and paid them. I should have just used UMOVEFREE or MOVE FOR FREE.COM as I always have. They actually have moved me professionally and well within a reasonable time frame. I paid $350 to a professional moving company for the absolute WORST move I have ever had, and I have had a few!!! Oh, and when they decided to leave, they had trash, paper, and tape all over the ground outside on the ground. I asked Jose if they were going to clean up all of their mess, he just said no, and took off on the truck. I have pictures of the truck and also all the garbage on the ground. I had to pick it all up. My manager told me I should have left it there and she would have called the owners about this move. Horrible customer service and very arrogant customer service after the move. They agree to a price and charge different price after the service. If you try to question the rationale they threaten you saying will call cops if you don't pay the amount they demand. I was cheated by Alex and santos recently by over charging me than agreed price. If your looking for a stress free moving experience keep looking! Not only were the "movers" a half hour late, they were also lazy and rude! Alex is a tool who claims he has all this experience but didn't know much about his profession. When you ask him a question or tell him how you want something he acts like he has a stick up his ass. In addition my mother is disabled and I have a bad back which is why they were hired in the first place, yet my mother and I found ourselves doing all the packing. In addition they quoted a reasonable price then when all was said and done tried to charge almost 200 dollars over quote. Saying they used more supplies than we paid for. We provided more boxes than they did and then they used all of our materials and none of there own. Downright disgrace to the profession. My grandfather owned what is now atlas movers and is turning in his grave with the sheer lack of customer service and professionalism. BEWARE!
