I got the dinner special with general Tsos tofu and veggie fried rice. Their fried rice is so good. It's nice and salty and flavorful with a few veggies. Tried the for the first time because I've always driven past but never eaten there. I only got the hot and sour soup and I was underwhelmed. It was a lot different than any other that I've had around here and was lacking in spice and the 'sour' flavors that one would expect to find from it. Best Chopsticks is our go-to Chinese in town, and has been for years. Pros: - I'm giving it 4 stars based on a sort of relative scale, what I'd expect from Chinese take-out. As that goes, we pretty much always enjoy it (see below) and don't feel a need to compare it to fine Chinese dining, which would be sort of a different scale. - They deliver! Which in itself is great and too rare in Bellingham, but I also really appreciate that it's a family business, and we've been greeting the same delivery folks for years. They're always friendly and our food gets here in the promised time. - Thoughtful packaging: There's a caveat below about the amount of plastic and styrofoam involved in getting take out from Best Chopsticks, but on the plus side it's worth noting things like how they deliver sweet and sour chicken: Sauce in a separate container so it doesn't make the fried chicken bits soggy, and they slice a little corner off the top of the chicken package so that it can "breathe" and not sweat in it's own steam. Result: crisp chicken in a take out order. Somebody there cared enough to think about that detail and I appreciate that it reflects a good attitude about their work. Also consider: (I don't want to call these "cons" because they don't bother me too much, just things to weigh into your decision.) - There's a noticeable amount of variation in some dishes from one time to the next. Possibly this has to do with how well a given dish holds up in the time between being prepared and it reaches our house, as General Tso's is probably one of the most varied and time matters when you're dealing with textures like crispy chicken. Other dishes are more consistent. But sometimes it's just better than others, maybe because of the cook on duty. I'd say the quality of a given dish varies from "it's alright" to "man, that's tasty," straying into "meh" territory seldom enough that it doesn't bother us. (That accounts for the 4 stars for take-out; if it was always as good as it often is, it would be a sold 5.) - I wish I wish I wish that they used more cardboard packaging for their takeout. An order of three dinners results in enough styrofoam packaging to make me feel bad about myself. My wife and I ordered a delivery meal for the first time last night. I had heard that they .were busy and under staffed at night so I ordered at 6 for a 7:30 arrival. Perfect for our schedule. The broccoli beef, chow mein, spring rolls, soup and fried rice arrived hot and right when they said they would. The guy who delivered looked to be the owner and asked to see the credit card I used because he thought he got the numbers wrong. He did have one digit wrong and fixed it right then. A lot of places would have just forgotten about it if your card doesn't go through. This is my wife and I's 'go-to' Chinese restaurant in Bellingham. And since I only gave it 3 stars it tells you about the state of Chinese food in this town. Best Chopsticks is more or less your typical Chinese restaurant. It has your typical selections (with a few you won't find at other places in Bellingham) and is at par in terms of quality and quantity. The prices are decent for the Northwest, which generally means a bit more expensive than other parts of the country. Our favorite dishes are the Shrimp with Honey Walnuts and the Squid with Black Bean Sauce. We also enjoy their hot and sour soup, but again it is not the best you will ever find. We have not generally been impressed with the service. Almost every time we place an order over the phone the food is done in less than half the time they tell us. This would be great except that it is cold by the time we get it home. Also, they have forgotten things in the past, like the sweet and sour sauce on our sweet and sour pork, still don't know how that got overlooked. The waitresses generally do not check on you even once when eating in. Overall, we aren't blown away by Best Chopsticks, but it remains our go-to quick and easy Chinese. read more

Always smells amazing on the drive home. We've gotten twice cooked pork, spicy pork, vegetable chow mein, kung pao tofu and sweet and sour tofu. Our favorites have been the twice cooked pork, veggie chow mein and sweet and sour tofu. The pork is always very tender and well spiced. Lots of fresh veggies in the entrees as well as the chow mein. The sweet and sour tofu is the fried tofu with their sweet and sour sauce, both of which are so good. The fried tofu stays crispy even after a drive home in the steaming box. It's so flavorful even on its own but with the sauce is even better. We also like to dip it in the leftover sauce from the spicy pork. The price is another great part, there's 2 of us and we order 3 entrees and sometimes an appetizer, get to slam on a buffet of food once we're home and have leftovers for later that night and the next day. Meh. I first stumbled upon this restaurant a few months ago, and was intrigued. I grew up eating at a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant, and I've never had better. I came here and read the reviews, and thought it sounded exactly like what I wanted. -The woman who took my order and brought it to me was very nice. -The price was pretty good, and the portion size was good also. -The food I saw on the tables looked really tasty. -I was prepared for it to be greasy - when I go for Chinese, I'm not looking for healthy. So yes, it was on the greasy side, but I have no problem with that. -I loved the texture of the egg roll - nice and crisp on the outside, and they use the rice wrap, which I prefer over other methods. It could have used more filling, but it was a great texture. Unfortunately it, like the rest of my meal, was disappointing in the flavor department. -It wasn't terrible food, it wasn't gross or anything, but it was just so flavorless. Surprisingly bland. Have they never heard of salt? I swear there was no salt in any of my food. I salted everything, including my soup before I ate it. I probably liked the food less than 3 stars, but 2 seems so harsh so I'm sticking with 3. I didn't hate my experience, I was just disappointed.
