I should have read some of the reviews before ordering. Fried rice did not look fried and had a weird after taste. I couldn't finish it. The General Tso chicken was not good. The sauce itself had a weird taste as well and to me not edible. I did like the wanton soup. It had pieces of ham and vegetables in the broth. A nice change to wanton soups I get elsewhere. I love a dive restaurant and really wanted to find a gem- unfortunately this is not it. I love the outdated decor but that's all I loved. The egg drop soup was bland. The fried rice did not look fried at all with nothing in it. The chicken seemed the same breaded chicken just with different sauces. Trying to find the best Chinese around. It's been years since we've been here so decided to try it out again. Came in on a Friday night. Only two other tables occupied. Waited a few minutes to be seated. Ordered a combo for two, plus an order of egg foo young. Appetizers came right away but the main courses took some time. Beef and vegetables was very good. The beef was very tender and the vegetables very fresh and cooked just right Sweet & sour pork was pretty good. Almond chicken was tasty ,but a little heavy on the breading. Egg Foo young was heavy with the breading, and had the same sauce as the almond chicken. Sweet and sour deep fried prawns were very heavy with greasy breading. Service was OK, but wife asked for a straw for her drink and got it only after asking a third time. Carpets have not been cleaned for some time. Restrooms clean, but could use some updating. I was not in the mood to cook, and one of my other places I used to go to had closed because of Covid. After reading the reviews here, I decided to try it. I think the negative reviews are wrong. I walking in , placed an order to go, and was out in 10 min. Fast service, and curtious, and the place was spotless. The only thing is the parking lot, some of the bushes are blocking the view of traffice coming form Wally world, other than that.. its was good food and a very good price! What a great experience, first time in this restaurant in over 15 years, but I will be back soon. I didn't know what to think when I drove up, I was not ever sure if the restaurant was open due to their being no cars on the parking lot. I ventured in to discover that yes indeed they were open, and I was the only customer in the place. At first I was a bit concerned being the only person in a restaurant at lunch time, but I was very impressed. The waitress who took my order was very friendly, and very attentive. The food was fresh and more than I could (or should) eat for lunch. I ordered the lunch special with 2 entrees, the almond chicken, and the mongolian beef for $8.50. I had a choice of Hot and Sour soup or egg flower. The meal was served with a noodle side, and fried rice. The hot and source soup was great, it had good flavor, and you could actually taste the meat in it. The mongolian beef and the almond chicken were great. They were prepared fresh, and didn't have that "just of of the warming tray" taste. The tea was included free, in fact the tea was served as soon as I sat down. This was a nice change from other places lately, free tea. The total bill was under $10 for lunch which seems like a good value. Authentic... Its authentic Americanized Chinese food. Will I go back? My family has been eating here for years. The food is good when you know when to go, i.e. you know who is doing the cooking that day. I recommend their salt and pepper prawns or squid, the mandarin, almond and honey glazed chicken, the Mongolian beef, and any of the more traditional Chinese dishes. The hot 'n sour soup and egg foo young is my favorite in town. My mother in-law says the vegetarian dishes are quite good as well. The key here is not to order the round eye, (Americanized), dishes. Every complaint I've read about the food here is about two things. One being misinformed people think they know what real chow mein is, ( vegetables and chicken in a starchy sauce) when in fact they are talking about Lo mein, ( pan fried noodles with bits of pork, vegetables, and sometimes pieces of egg). The second is, EVERY sweet 'n sour, General Tso, Empress, Lemon, and Almond chicken/pork dish you get anywhere is the same fried chicken/pork covered in a different sauce. They are not going to make every meal from scratch for EVERY SINGLE ORDER at these prices, so do the world a favor and get over yourself please. read more

We were in town for a few days waiting to travel to Canada. Found China Palace when we were shopping. At first a little hesitant because there were only a couple cars in the parking lot. Inside was very colorful and clean. Hostess was attentive and friendly. The four of us had the lunch specials and were happily satisfied. The food didn't taste all too good; the service was complete sh!t! and it was definitely overpriced for the garbage they're serving! The wontons had no cheese left in them since they looked like they opened up while frying. They were super saturated with oil, but they served them anyway. The kids pizza came out of a fucking microwave! A MICROWAVE!! Not even a real oven.. Their meats are all somewhat generically breaded and fried and only change flavor with the different sauces they have depending on what you order. With that being said, both the sweet & sour pork and the general tso chicken looked and almost tasted exactly alike, except for the sauces. The fried rice wasn't fried rice!! I may or may not come back. That's what 3 stars means to me. The food was good. It was hot and freshly made. The service was fine, especially since there was only one lady working to dinner shift. I was glad the portions were enormous for the price. I had a dinner special, it had 3 smaller entrées, rice and came with soup. It was$11.50, my wife's (non special) plate came with the same amount of food for $10.50. There's definitely enough if your hungry, or like Chinese food leftovers. Only good complaint was that the honey walnut chicken had too much sauce (mayo and honey I think), and the dough on pot stickers was 5% under cooked. The decor is a bit out dated and needs to be dusted. The outside of the building needs some TLC, and it's a bit hard to access because of a barrier on Meridian St. You can only access easily North bound, south bound you have to turn at the light and go through the superstore parking lot to get to the restaurant. read more

China Palace is a really nicely decorated restaurant, It really makes it seem like it's Chinese. They have really good family style deals where we had 5-6 plates of food for just 13-14 dollars for just 3 of us and it was a very huge dinner. The servings were really generous and was worth your money. But food on the other hand is not exactly authentic Chinese food, but more like panda express food to me. There are some dishes that they pull off really well but the restaurant is a bit Americanized so Don't consider it traditional authentic Chinese food. I have gone to China Palace for years. I love their food and their service has been great. But today I went August 18th 2022 and I was very appalled at what I saw and what was allowed in the restaurant while I ate my food. I sat in the far back and had a view of the one table where it turned a corner. At the table I was facing I had full view of a mother I am assuming her husband and her child which looked to be a little under 1 years old. He was sitting in one of the high chairs and it seemed to be fine. I got my food and began eating and noticed the child was standing up in the high chair. No one did anything and he just kept standing there messing around. So I looked away because it made me nervous. Then I looked up again and he was standing on the table. Again no one did anything. He proceeded to jump around walk around the table grab the light at the top that was hanging above. Spinning it around and so on. So I looked away because it was very disturbing. Since they were in my full view it's hard not to see what was going on. The parents did nothing to stop it. Then he jumped down in the seat beside his mother and she proceeded to completely remove all of his clothes till he was completely naked. She took off his diaper laid it on the table opened grabbed baby wipes and started wiping his butt throwing them on top of the diaper on top of the table. Now mind you there was poop on it. so then he gets back up on the table completely naked jumping around walking around grabbing the lamp that was hanging again. Then back down on the seat completely naked. Then she laid him down and put a diaper back on him put his clothes back on him. Bye then she got up and walked him down the aisle to the front and I heard him running around a little bit of screaming not bad. Then they came back to the seat. She started to undress him again took off his shirt took off his pants and took off his diaper which was very poopy. She laid it on top of the other diaper on the table. Then she pulled out the baby wipes and started wiping his butt as he stood completely naked beside her. As she wiped the poop which was open for everyone to see She laid it on top of the diaper on the table. She grabbed another one wiping the poop all he stood there beside her laying again onto the diaper. By this time we could smell the poop at our table. She got him dressed and they left. This went on for a good half hour while we ate. The waitress walked by and I was so disgusted I said what is going on with this lady You should not allow her to come in here and do that. And I explained to her what was going on and said that should not be allowed in a restaurant while we're sitting here eating while she's wiping a baby's butt standing up beside her and the baby's naked and climbing all over the table and so on and so forth. Her reply was well she's a regular customer. That's it That's what she said. I said it doesn't matter if she's a regular customer or not she should not be allowed to do that. I said it's very disgusting and I can't believe you're allowing it. So they gathered up their things and walked away with this big pile of poopy diapers and wipes on top of the table. I wasn't the only one that saw it. There was another booth beside me and I had a friend with me also. It makes me sick that that was allowed because she's a regular customer. I mentioned that that place better be completely sanitized because of that. I watched her go over after they left and sanitize everything. And it made me wonder what the table was like when I sat down where I was eating. Had that lady in her child sat there before? That was so disgusting I don't know if I'm ever going to go back and everybody I know is going to hear the story of what I saw today. I'm completely disgusted that that was allowed to go on. So there you go I know this will probably not even be put up I don't know. But I'm calling the better Business bureau about it. read more

With the Hong Kong Garden sadly closing, this is the last old school Washington state style Chinese restaurant left in Bellingham. As it was my Number 2 for this type of Chinese, it is now No.1 For years I went to Haggen for Chinese to get the honey glazed chicken, now that they serve a hotter, fresher, better version of it here, I no longer have to do so. This is the best place in town for the classic Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Pork, Almond Chicken, BBQ type Chinese. Californians will NOT like this place, nor will Canadians. This is NOT authentic Chinese or CA/OR type. It is also not healthy. Do not eat here for healthy food, but for really good tasting food. All the classic dishes are done in their traditional ways with maximum effort to flavor and the best quality version of those. Also very efficient serving staff. Only improvement would be to paint the walls any color other than white, then with their decor, the place would be a "destination" restaurant instead of a local classic. Very well decorated, but the white walls make it look like a basement.
