I overlooked a young man on his phone, who merely gave me a sideways nod. Nearby was a young woman, perhaps in her early 20s, who smiled at me and sincerely asked whether I needed help finding anything. Her badge revealed she was Anna. I showed her the laptop my son sent to my phone. She immediately recognized this model and asked me to follow her. I was excited to see this much-needed version in person. I asked Anna whether it was in stock and she said she'd check. Anna went to the stockroom while I texted my son in the Bay Area to inform him I finally found the exact one he recommended - and it was reduced by $200.00! A few moments later, Anna returned, holding the box, and exclaimed joyfully, "I found it!" After completing my purchase, I informed Anna I wanted to speak with her supervisor to share my favorable experience with her. She told me his name is Justin and provided a description of him. I relayed to Justin how wonderful, attentive, alert and prepared Anna was. She made my time at Best Buy 100% positive by demonstrating she is someone who wants to do their job. read more

Their fearless leader Aaron, the general manager, is a true class act and a kind and fair gentleman who helped me out in my time of need. He did something most people would not do. The service is excellent and the products are excellent. I can also say that Destiny in the electronics sales department was knowledgeable, kind, and she truly deserves a promotion and a raise. This place is clean, classy, and offers some of the best products at discounts and sale prices you will not find on Amazon or directly through manufacturer websites when they sell direct to customer. So do yourself a favor, save yourself some money, and have a good experience while you are at it. We have purchased most of our electronics at Best Buy in Redding, but will will not shop there again. I purchased what was supposed to be a genuine HP ink cartridge yesterday, brought it home and my printer says the cartridge will not communicate. My husband took it back and explained. They refused to replace it, saying the package does not agree with the box. The box was sealed when we purchased it. Now, I have no printer until Monday, when HP may or may not process an exchange. This is the second time Best Buy in Redding would not honor their products. Customer service is horrible. We needed to exchange our iPhone through AppleCare and the employee kept telling us they couldn't take our locked phone. Our issue wasn't even a locked phone but she was so adamant that she couldn't help us without even listening to what our issue was. She finally radioed another employee who informed her that they do, in fact, handle AppleCare so her very next words were "we don't have time to help you so you need to call and set up an appointment." It was an hour before the store closed AND WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE! Complete laziness. They apparently can't handle the AppleCare contract that they have and unfortunately they are the only AppleCare business in Redding. I had a poor experience with this best buy, and its offshore Indian service staff when purchasing a Starlink Mini. 1. You will NOT ever talk to a staffer at this store (likely any other) ... but will be routed to Indian staff as I was. She lied saying she was 'at the location physically' - I know b/c I asked to speak to her manager at the location and she confessed. She also lied about the number of inventory remaining as 'only 1 left' in order to spur a purchase. 2. After saying no thanks to the lying Indian, I ordered the Starlink Mini online - features stated that it included a DC cord. The response was that my order would be ready in an hour. I show up at the store and the lady says "your order is not ready" ... "I placed it 2.5 hours ago, why" ... "I cant say, it just says pending". I pressed her again to find out and she suggested my bank was the cause - so I opened my bank transactions and showed her that it was not blocked. "I dont know what to tell you, I have no way of finding out .. .but you can cancel your order and buy it here". "OK, but tell me if the DC cable is in the package as advertised? She leaves, then returns and says no...without the slightest care in the world. I told her this was strike two - and she was clearly unconcerned and dismissive. Where to start. If there was a zero review I could give, I would. Do not do business with this location, as long as Justin (aka, not-so "Scary McJerry" on his work shirt) and Josh are here. They lied to me multiple times and acted like snotty, childish royalty when I asked for help resolving an 11-week delivery problem. This is a long negative review - you can read it all, or just go to Lowe's or Carmona's - real local people who care, better prices, free delivery, and they stand up and deliver customer service as part of doing business. Justin (not-so Scary McJerry) is a liar. He was childish and snotty, and kept disappearing to some back room, leaving a customer service staffer to try to help sift through weeks of broken promises, order mishaps and more. At one point, he smugly said, "we called you but you didn't bother to call us back. I reminded him there are no discoverable local numbers (dear reader, just try to call into your "local Best Buy - good luck), and when I tried to call back when the store did call me, the calls went to national call centers, with no way to connect back to the store. Josh did try to help at first, but when he realized the extent of the problems and mistakes with this order, he quickly decided to be part of the "blame and hide" approach this staff took. When a retail store manager's best solution is to choose a large refund and to soak up the cost of two trips to Dunsmuir to deliver, then to retrieve a refrigerator, rather than to find an icemaker and a water line installer (both of which I had already paid for), you know he is operating from childish emotions and control issues. Over the course of those 11 weeks, I experienced 5 broken delivery date promises (2 "vehicle issues," 1 "scheduling conflict," and 2 plain old no-shows). Workers shoed up and did not do all the work I had paid for. Work which was never even started was marked "complete," causing me to have to prove products and services had not been delivered - and more. Don't even get me started about the hours on the phone and in the store, getting lied to and not being trusted (I had to play a voicemail I received from Josh, lying about a part having been delivered, before not-so Scary McJerry (Justin) even believed me. I have noticed a worsening customer service attitude from this store over the past few years. The floor staff generally try to avoid eye contact or having to answer questions. But these recent experiences have cured me of any desire to ever frequent this business again. Wimpy, tantrum-throwing manager aside, do yourself a favor - find everything you need to find on your own (or from another retailer). You will not get reliable help from this store. I own and operate rental properties - I completely equipped three kitchens from this store over the past few years. No more. By the way, I found that Carmona's and Lowe's both offers better prices, knowledgeable staff, and free delivery to outlying areas if you purchase is over a certain (reasonable) amount. We decided to upgrade our TV from a paltry 50" to something....bigger. After looking at all the varieties, we asked for some advice. Marcus Yao came to the rescue. He was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. After we pretty much settled on a TV, we scheduled an in-home appointment with Keith. The in-home assessment went very well. In fact, we opted to add a Klipsch surround speaker system and a Denon 165W receiver to compliment the new 85" Sony Bravia HD TV. When installation day came (June 14), Ken, Preet, Jonathan and Javier showed up in two Geek Squad vans with all the merchandise. Javier and Preet left after unloading the items, leaving Ken and Jonathan the task of installing everything. After working very hard for 6 hours, and getting a tutorial on using everything, we were ready to rock and roll! The system is remarkable. The sound incredible. The service awesome. Do not utilize this store for your cell phone purchases. Especially if you use Verizon; just go to the corporate store. The sales reps make more if they upsell you, and unfortunately I was flat out lied to. The sales rep got me to change my entire cell plan in order to get a trade in credit and save money on my monthly bill. In the end my bill is now $90 more instead of $50 less, as stated! In addition the rep was supposed to enroll me in auto pay to save additional monies, which he did not. I have since done this, and worked with a Verizon specialist in an effort to get somewhere close to where my bill was before. Fortunately, I was able to come within $10 (over of course) of my previous bill, which is better than a $90 increase. I was not able to get my old plan back as I was "grandfathered" into it and once it's changed, it's changed no matter who told me what! Upon calling the manager of the department, I was offered a refund of my phone, and tech support, which I would have to rebuy anyways with a major inconvenience to me to do it! I was offered no help or reprimand of the lying sales rep! This is what you get with corporate America today folks, nobody is accountable and the customer gets screwed every time. What a shame. I will always deal direct from now on, no more third party/independent distributors/authorized dealers. And honestly, this particular Best Buy won't be getting any of my business again. read more

I was gifted a large TCL tv by a relative and I picked it up. It was broken out the box and the reviews on the tv said that it was a common problem with that brand so I asked if I could exchange it for a different brand. The guy in customer service said yes and put the amount on a gift card and I bought a 50 inch Samsun tv and a 2 year protection plan for an extra $50. Almost a year later I come home from work and turn the tv on and there's a 2mm white circle of dead pixels. Its large enough that I noticed it from across the room. I unplugged the tv and ran it to bestbuy to see if it could be repaired or swapped. The customer service rep there said I could get it "junked out" like I did before but I'd have to set up an appointment because the tv was too big to have it looked at in store. The rep said they would see if the tv was repairable and if it wasn't they would have me bring it in to have it "junked out." I called the number the rep gave me and the geek squad rep on the phone told me I had to play a hour and a half long YouTube video on my tv to try and get the pixels unstuck. First of all, I didn't pay $50 for a protection plan to have some guy tell me to YouTube a fixit video! Secondly, I live in a very rural area that has no internet so I have to hotspot internet from my phone so my highspeed is limited. I told him that wasn't an option. He said the soonest someone could come out was well over a week later. So over a week goes by and a geek squad guy shows up. I'm at work so my wife is home. First he says he thinks it's "damage" so it's not covered but the screen is not cracked and there's no scratch. He makes a call and says it's not "damaged" but that there has to be more than one pixel dead before he's able to do something about it. My wife calls me to tell me so I call the Redding CA store and talk to them. I tell them it's definitely more than one pixel but they say they can't help me and forward me over the phone to "corporate." It's not corporate it's geek squad again. I talk to them and they transfer me to a supervisor who tells me there's a corporate address but no corporate line. She looked at the report and can't figure out why they didn't repair or replace the tv. She told me the best chance I had was to go in and ask for a manager and "see what they can do for me" because she couldn't help me... I go in and there's no manager so customer service calls over a geek squad member who might be a supervisor? She had dark hair and multiple facial piercings but no name tag. I showed her the picture of the dead spot next to a ruler so she could see how large it was. She seemed very helpful and concerned. She said in the morning she'll talk with the manager and her team and give me a call around 1pm. The next day I received no call so I went in after work. I went to the customer service desk and talked to the young lady behind the counter, she checked for notes but there was nothing. I saw the dark haired woman I talked to to night before walking by so I ran over and told her I never received a call, she said she'll find out what is up. About five minutes later she returned and said there's nothing they can do unless it's more than THREE PIXELS! I told her it's definitely more than three since she saw the picture and she replied she's not qualified for diagnose to tv and that she could GIVE ME CORPORATE'S NUMBER!! THE SAME NUMBER I WAS ORIGINALLY FORWARDED TO WHO THEN TOLD ME TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR! I explained that I'm here because I did that already! To the dispatch and manager for deliveries and installations: we placed an order and set an appointment. Our arrival window was yesterday between 3-6pm. Got a call at 1:11pm, they left a message and the driver wanted to delivery early. So, I tried to call them back, and told them I would go there and meet them. Never saw them. No call or communication from the driver or dispatch after that. Waited over two hours and finally called customer support. Was told by customer support that the driver returned my item back to Best Buy. When I asked about my delivery window of 3-6, I was told the driver changed it to 1-3. How does that happen? How does the driver change my arrival window? So we completely cancelled our entire order. I'm not dealing with an operation that behaves in this way. In addition I removed other items from my Best Buy cart. Done with dealing with Best Buy for now. Found the same microwave for cheaper elsewhere. This has got to be one of the, if not the only, Best Buy locations with friendliest staff that go above and beyond, but unfortunately this statement cannot blanket every single employee at this facility. The cashier was very friendly and engaging, while the first person I asked for help did not stop by me when I asked a specific question about a product. He gave me a brief, generic answer while continuing to walk away from me. The second person I asked for help was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about a product I was looking at. He actually took the time to answer my questions and explain some things to me about the product. The facility itself is just like any other Best Buy, with an OK selection of various items. Overall, the customer service was good with some employees and questionable when it came to others. The manager here became physically aggressive with me and threatened me because I was LGTBQ. I called corporate numerous times, and nothing was done. I sent in emailed complaints and nothing was done. Multiple employees told me on video recording that he has threatened them with great bodily harm. I reported him to the local police department and will never shop in this tore again. It is SHOCKING to me that in 2019 that BestBuy corporate condones the harassment of anyone in this nature. FWIW I'm increasing the rating to 3 stars. At the end of the day it was completed same day, which I would have been happy about (even if my expectations had been beaten down in the process). Good for them (and me) for getting it done today. JN If you are planning on using Redding Best Buy to service your Apple Product under Apple Care coverage, use caution. Get clarity on repair times up front and before locking in an appointment (which takes 3-5days at this point). I waited 4 days for the soonest appointment to fix a cracked front screen. Then today, I brought my phone in for a simple front screen repair, and was given a repair time of two days. Which is wild given this is a 1hr (or less) repair at most in an Apple store or even the Sprint store I just called (but is two hours away). At best its tough getting Apple Care service if you live in areas like Redding, that's just the deal when you live in areas like this. There are no Apple stores anywhere close, and my nearest cell carrier store location is a two hours away. Best Buy was my best choice and even then I waited 4 days for this appointment. But had I known this was going to take an additional two days I would have just made the drive to Sprint (who told me for sure it would be an hour or less to repair). It may seem petty to complain, but who can part with their phone for two days, and more importantly there were no extenuating circumstances here; their reasoning was simply that they had "three people call out". Frankly, that shouldn't be the (apple) customers' problem. They are an authorized Apple Care representative. Apple's products, and the their service is top of the line, so their representatives should be as well. Even if it is being outsourced. I'm there are plenty of smaller repair shops that would like to have that Apple Care business. We pay a lot of money for these products and Apple Care, that includes quick turn arounds on simple repairs. Admittedly, if I was paying for an out of warranty repair then that would be a different situation. Anyway, when it comes using Best Buy Redding for repairs call them and clarify the wait times. Do not just assume they will treat your situation with the same urgency that Apple would themselves, or what we expect from Apple Care service in general. Personally I will do my best to avoid needing to go back there for anything else. read more

I specifically stopped at this Best Buy for an iPhone, and after seeing numerous bad reviews for BB stores all over the area, I was convinced that it would be a clusterfuffle of bad service, especially as it was going to require a new cell phone service contract with a separate company (AT&T). I'm surprised and pleased to admit that overall it was pretty painless. They had the phone in stock. The young guy behind the desk was knowledgeable about the AT&T service plans and insurance, got my old contact info onto the new phone and basically knew his stuff.
