No help for customers. Walked passed 3-4 workers, kind of knew where I was going so not much problem. Every thing I was looking for was up higher than I can see. Finally located what I needed, not the easiest task as everything is too high up. Walked back to front to pay. Finally was asked if I needed help. Sorry if your BS conversation is too important to help the customers. But you are paid for this service. I didn't get the name of the girl at the register, but she was very helpful and doing the job of many that were not. Customer service goes along way to keeping customers. read more

The service was amazing!! I had an issue with my license plate being attached to my auto. The screw holder on the auto was broke and I could not attach my license plate. I stopped at Ace Hardware! A wonderful man "DAYLOR" came to my rescue!! He went out to look at the problem!! He went above and beyond any employees expectations!! He looked for just the right items, made a second trip to my car AND FIXED IT!! I did not have to go to the dealers or ANYWHERE ELSE. I am still blown away over the service. I got actual service. My brother recommended this store .he's been going there about 20 years and so I needed some keys made so I rather give the business to them an instead of the big box stores. I walked past the front register and I went in the back to get the keys made. There was a lady there helping a customer so I waited. The associate, answered the phone and put her sign saying that the register was closed and I'm standing right there. She didn't say anything to me so this guy walks by and I say where can I get keys made and he goes right there I turned back to her then the lady said I just close the register I didn't close for the keys in a really nasty way and then there was another man standing on the side near the aisle and he said wow I wasn't gonna stand there and take their abuse and I said I was going to go to somewhere else and may get my keys made because they both were giving me attitude. All I wanted to do was get my keys made The same guy a really tall guy about six two I think he was bald headed he kept talking about me and yelling at down the aisle at me I told it's sad you have a bad attitude an you work here . I asked to speak to the manager . He's name was Matt I explained the situation and he said he was sorry and he was going to take care of it. I went to Lowe's to get my keys made and they did it within five minutes and they were very nice. It's sad to see Customer Service. It's not what it used to be. Helpful local hardware store for not all greeds or kinds. First time in Redding I experienced this it's sad , but I felt the customer service representative rather help someone and talk about how they are doing, then assist me. No big deal, what my big complaint is the cashier asked me how mush my item cost lol that's annoying. was there on 12/4/2017 to pick up a water heater and Tom wheeled it out of the store and I did not hear him say back the pick up over to curb and when he wheeled it over to the pick up he was not gentle about setting it down and said you have trouble backing up the pick up,and I was shocked that he said that to me, I guess it was cause I did not hear him ask me to back to the curb... I love my Ace on Hartnell Ave. they have always taken good care of me. I go in and ask stupid questions or I just bring in a part and I tell them, I need another one of these. They always have staff on hand that will help and know what they are talking about. A word of caution, you may have to wait a bit to get that personalized attention but it is so worth it and so is worth the extra couple of bucks to avoid Lowe's or Home Depot. BTW, they have loaner tools - yes, they actually loan their customers tools to fix some of the routine things around the house that you just need that special tool for. Please be kind and return them! I have borrowed stuff from them before and it's great . . . of course I buy the parts I need from them too, but not the tool to fix it! read more

I've been a customer service manager for over fifteen years and a word of advice would be to focus on what you can do for your customer, not what you can't. Plus it's all about attitude, and yours stinks to high heaven. First of all, you don't yell at a customer when they walk in the store and our talking to another associate...STORE PICK UP, STORE PICK UP, STORE PICK UP!!!!! How about, mam, if you have a store item to pick up I'd be happy to help you over here. And don't apologize, and then say well it's not my fault!! (when I never said i was upset, or blames you for the wrong item being ordered), also just for your information, so you can sleep at night lol. I was able to drive my happy little butt over to the Ace on Westside road and get (2) of the correct item that I ordered. As they had it in stock for same day pick up. Please Karen do everyone a favor and just retire if your going to act like that at work. It is "Ace is the place for your helpful hardware store" and you were anything but helpful, definitely didn't seem happy to help, that's for sure!! read more

Ace always has that unusual nut or bolt that i need. When the big box stores don't have what you want, go to Ace. The employees are always willing to help you find what you are looking for and generally seem knowledgeable about all things ace. I live fairly close to this particular ace so its convenient as well. However you will pay a premium for that unusual not or bolt. Pricing on certain items are crazy high..... read more

It's very convenient to my home, but I seriously doubt if I'll ever go back again. It was my go-to hardware store for years, but I recently had an issue with them over a return which totally soured me on them. No need to go into the details. I bought the best paint there. Went on smooth, covered so well and didn't smell a bit! It didn't cover the whole room so I went back for more. I could not reach my paint on the higher shelf so I asked for help. An older gentleman, maybe the manager, not sure, said the paint below was the same but repackaged. I asked how it could be exactly the same as they had different numbers and totally different packaging. I questioned him thoroughly as I loved the previous brand. He assured me it was the same so I bought it feeling in my gut I should insist on the one I previously purchased. The paint was horrible. It was watery, barely covered the walls and smelled awful and still does after 3 weeks! I have to leave the window open, use a special oil diffuser, incense, and the fan is on all the time. It is a guest bedroom and no one can stay in it! Taking advantage of an older gal? What the heck? If you have to go here, make certain you know what you're getting! I won't go here again. read more

This is about sprinklers. Oscillators specifically. Ace carries one with a lifetime warranty and we all know how valuable that can be. And theirs comes with a built-in timer! bought one last early summer and as was expected, after a few days, quit working correctly. Exchanged no problem. and this unit actually works very well when set for less than full range. 1st one i've had that'll do that. best sprinkler i' ve ever owned. AND i love the store/staff too. G.
