I was needing to buy a cordless chainsaw to trim some stuff in my backyard, and I looked at Harbor Freight Tools in Red Bluff but didn't find any small ones that included the stupid battery, so the next day I'm headed up to Redding here with a friend and was gonna try Home Depot. This location is on Churn Creek, just north of where it crosses the 44 freeway. Just go north past the McDonald's an it's on the left, can't miss it! Parking was easy enough. We go in and OK, where do we look for what we want. There supposed to be some staff or something to help out but couldn't get anyone. So we wander down some asiles and don't see what we want. OK, I see the tool area, so we go over there. No one to help either. I did manage to find the chain saws, really big ass ones too that might chop my foot off with. I just wanted a little hand held job. I found a couple of options, but wow, these prices are a bit high, OK, higher that I wanted to pay for something I'm gonna use just occasionally. I'm not some pro landscaper. I did look on Amazon and those prices seemed more in line for an occasional user like me. Oh, well, we outta here. I'll say service is severely lacking here, but I guess you know that going into it. read more

I came in a bought a pallet of bricks last night and was told they would be ready for pick up by 7am the next day. I came in at 9 the next day and the items had not been pulled so I had to leave and come back later. I came back 2 hours later and still had to wait over an hour for them to load my pallet of bricks. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing at this store. Absolutely terrible customer service and lack of knowing what is going on at their job. I wish we could go back when Home Depot and Lowe's hired people who knew what they were doing. read more

A complete cluster. What should've been an easy water heater pump warranty exchange turned into a complete debacle. We ordered replacement, then they couldn't find it, then they found it, then couldn't figure out how to scan codes. All the while the plumbers were twiddling their thumbs. Cost me an extra day for plumbing labor. They tried to offer a $10 rebate. What a joke. Had to raise hell to get 25% off and battle their bullshit justifications and excuses. Ordered thousands of dollars of appliances and the delivery service. Website says "The delivery team will uncrate, set in place, level and connect your appliance" and that old appliances will be hauled away. This did not happen and the best Home Depot could do was offer to take all the appliances back. Don't expect any service from these folks. We found nearly everything we were looking for, but had a few problems. My husband and i are elderly, and do not have smart phones. We needed help but were directed by a sign to scan a QR code to receive service. We could not do this. We found an associate and asked to see something in the locked bins. Half way through our sentence to her, she spotted someone down the aise, left us, and began helping him. We waited about 10 minutes for her to return to us. She apologized for leaving us, and then told us that she was out of the item we were waiting for. We continued to shop but couldn't tell if the item we were shopping for was the one in the box, as the tag on the shelf was at floor level, and impossible to us to read. We did the best we could, including kneeling on the floor to read the tag. At checkout, a young clerk took us out of the line we were in and instructed us to the self-checkout. Then she left. We did not want self checkout, and returned to our original line. She then came back and asked why we left. We told her we didn't want to use the self checkout, and she said, "I was going to come back". How would we know that? She rang us up (over $500 worth of merch), and she was very nice, but communication skills are obviously lacking in the store, especially assuming that everyone now has a smart phone. read more

Although it used to be the exact opposite, they have surpassed lowes in customer service. It's stil not always easy to find someone who is working in their own department ("this isn't my department" isyhemost commonly uttered phrase by home depot employees), but they are generally helpful. read more

Walking up and down the isles was next to impossible, carts sitting in isles, product sitting in isles. One isle there was so much stuff we could not get cart down it. Did not see anyone picking up anything or taking product out of the many baskets sitting with just stuff in them. The wood section was a joke! I saw one employee just walking around not picking up as he walked by, not helping anyone, just wandering around. I saw him several times just walking around! We avoid your store for these reasons. Oh and all the cardboard displays make it so two carts coming towards each other cannot pass each other. Makes me want to run my cart into displays and knock them over. I left my cart in an isle full of stuff and went to the other home improvement store, which I might add they are getting sloppy as well! read more

This review is for the Home Depot in Redding. I just moved to this area and have been to this store numerous times and have had the best experience with the employees on the floor and with the customer service area. The employees on the floor never hesitate to help and always ask if I need help with something. When I was taken to customer service by an employee on the floor, the customer service person was pleasant and helped me with what I needed. I come from the SF Bay Area where customer sevice does not exist anymore nor does the help from the employees on the floor. My experience in this store has been a good one every time I have been there. PLEASE keep up the good work!!! Over 20 years of patronage at this home depot has been reduced to 3 horrible experiences in the last two years! We'll never be back and because of one disrespectful, vindictive, manager, (Robin) we are closing our Home Depot account entirely! Over the last 20 years we have spent well over $60,000, and $30,000 in the last three years. In the last two years we have been insulted, berated, embarrassed and accused of stealing, and told if we didn't like the price, go somewhere else, all by the same angry assistant manager, Robin! We have contacted Home Depot corporate and registered complaints without any results. I don't understand a company who condones such poor customer service and blatant insulting behavior towards their customers. Before destroying my Home Depot cards, I will once again waste my time by letting Home Depot corporate know of our horrid service at the hands of one of their managers. I am assuming the results will be the same, which is basically an automated generic apology in email form. And no response from local assistant manager Robin, who continues to drive off customers. Just a tip. Do NOT order online curbside pickup here. I do it all the time at Lowe's with a simple fast experience. So I thought okay it should be fine. Ordered last night for guaranteed 2 hour pickup of a few items that I paid for. Next day I wait till 11am call. They don't even ask for my order number to check, they just say, yeah most of the time it doesn't happen in two hours. We have one guy doing 25 orders. Okay, but Lowe's always does it. I prefer shopping at Lowes but they were out of an item so I came to HD. I was left very impressed with the customer service we received from .... Might've been Trevor or tanner? I feel terrible forgetting the name now but anyways, he was passing by with inventory in a cart and asked if we needed help. We really did need help so he stopped what he was doing, looked for the item then ended up using his handy phone to look it up the specific item in store to make sure it was in stock or not. HD ended up not having that specific item but the associate was able to guide us towards an alternative! I love that customer service. We didn't know of others so it was nice that he listened to what we're looking for and gave us a recommendation. It was much appreciated so thank you! read more

I purchased a refrigerator as a gift for a 87 yr old woman. I had nothing but issues from the minute the refrigerator arrived. I purchased the ice maker which as supposed to be installed before arrival, it wasn't in the unit and it never arrived. Had to file a no delivery report for it..it arrived 3 days later. The men that delivered it were rude. They threw all the trash out the backdoor when there was a garbage container two feet from the backdoor. Refrigerator went out within the first week, it took 2 weeks before HD sent a service tech out. The tech ordered parts that took three weeks to arrive. The unit went out again within a week. General Electric got involved and sent an entirely new refrigerator to the resident and removed the bad unit. I was later told HD used a floor model and sold it to me as a new unit from the warehouse. General Electric was involved from the beginning being HD only gives a 24 hour warranty..what a joke. They'll take your money in a heartbeat but after that you're on your own and they'll have nothing to do with you other that provide a manufacturer's phone number. I'll never buy anything other that masking tape or sandpaper from this business ever again. This was my 3rd big ticket item and all three were for the most part a bad experience. Think twice before buying anything from HD if it's a large ticket purchase..unless your money comes easy. read more

Today while shopping I could not find what I was looking for. I finally decided to ask an associate. He couldn't understand what I was saying. I have an accent. The item I was looking for was "a crowbar". Once I finally got him to understand by explaining what the item does. He kept saying "crowbar" over and over and laughed and proceeded to give me lessons on how to pronounce my "R's". And asking me "Can you say that?" This is not a criticism about the Redding store in particular but Home Depot as a whole when it comes to their store brand product lines such as Commercial Electric. These lighting products advertised to work potentially for decades are only warranteed for 90 days in-store after which you have to deal with the "manufacturer" which is the company they contracted to produce the product for them. It's a classic case of passing the buck. We've purchased close to 200 Commercial Electric integrated LED lighting fixtures and have had enough problems that we will buy no more. This last parking lot flood light which couldn't handle a single power outage was the last straw. Educate yourself on the Home Depot brand line of products and stay away from them. read more

DO NOT UNDER ANY CERUMSTANCE BUY ANYTHING FROM THE WEBSITE Unless you can afford to pay twice and wait a week or so to get the authorization refunded since they first authorize your card for the full amount then charge you when it ships I used my taxes to get a generator I need for when the light when out from storms or fires they authorized the full amount and then split the payment for the protection plan and charged me again now their telling me the authorization will drop in 3 to 5 business days I am low income with a electric bill due now I'm $700 overdrafts didn't realize that I would need the generator just to have lights. They don't even warn you that they have a policy temporarly double bill you. DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH AMAZON OR WALMART. read more

Most of the staff in homedepot are very nice and friendly. I bought a lot materials of renovation from them and order flooring, cabinets and countertop from Lisa and Karen. They are all nice and helpful. However, when I talked to the higher level leader Diane and manager Charles. Their attitude are not as the people around. They are not helpful and not caring for customers. For example, there's a tag on backsplash shelf very tricky and misleading. When every other price tag indicate the price for each piece, instead the backsplash price I want to buy is by set and there's three other price at the side says was on top which makes you think that's a good deal. Yet the real price is higher than that since each piece cover 1.5 square feet instead of 1 as regular. I asked the manage to mark the real price to real price and he wouldn't. When I talked with him, he is not customer oriented and insist his own stubbornness even though it's a cheating for customers he wouldn't care. It's terrible attitude for service industry cause they act like government. I used to love homedepot but felt sorry about their leader's business culture. read more

I was not pleased with my visit today. I went in to buy a rug. Quickly found the rug I needed and searched for several minutes to find someone to help me cut it for me. When I found someone that works there, instead of them paging someone to help me, they insisted I go to the middle of the store to a desk to ask for help. When I got there, the worker at the desk did not greet me or anything, she continued to stare the her computer screen and type something in... even though I stood there for at least 3 minutes waiting. So I spent another few minutes looking for someone else. When I found someone, they did not seem pleased to help me... they didn't ask me what size of rug I wanted but continued to get a large one rather than the medium I asked for. I'm very disappointed in the level of customer service I received today at the Redding Home Depot. I went to check out, all signs above were labeled "self checkout". It was not visibly clear that there was someone, ONE employee, checking out customers. I observed the self checkout machines, multiple are labeled "Card Only" with a sign underneath the machine, which I was a cash paying customer. I walked over to other self checkout machines that did not have anything specified on them. I started scanning my items and attempted to pay, it was not accepting my cash. After several failed attempts, we asked what we were doing wrong. A woman comes over and says, with an attitude, "because it doesn't accept cash. It said card only on the screen" My response "well, I walked around and you have machines that clearly state card only and this one did not say card only when I walked up to it." She then replied, again, with attitude, "you must have come up right after someone then." So she canceled it out, printed off a receipt and moved to another machine. After several attempts, this particular machine was also not accepting my cash payment. She takes my cash and exchanges it for smaller bills. Then we ask if it is just all self checkout now. Another girl says, as if it is apparent that there is someone at a register "no, this girl right here is checking out customers" and walks away from me. This particular employee was on a machine that appeared to be a "self checkout" machine under another sign that stated "self checkout". I've worked in retail, I get it's tough more days than not and I've worked in customer service for 10+ years. It could have been very simple. When asked what we were doing wrong with the cash, the response could have been "oh, more times than not it does specify on the screen that this particular machine is card only. I'm sorry about the confusion, you may have walked up right after someone. Let me cancel this out with a receipt so we can just scan it over here at this one and you won't have to scan your items again." If you don't like your job, maybe consider finding a different one where customer service isn't the majority of your job. It's not difficult to be kind and assist someone. read more

Like many mega-retail establishments such as this, the chances of roller coaster experiences in customer service are high. There are good days and bad days, the key is a high number of good days by ratio for survival. I bought an affordable BBQ from The Home Depot during the summer of 2016. I read online reviews while in the store actively researching, which proved quite helpful. But more importantly, I was in a desperate hurry... on the way to a wedding reception! I found the 'best bang for the buck' on a BBQ and scouted an associate to load the box onto a cart. I got lucky, he was present, stocking shelves. He offered up some help that saved future gratuitous profanity, they assemble many of these units and park them out front! I looked, found the one I wanted, paid and asked my wife to swing the rig around to the front. Oh, did I mention it was raining? I mean pouring, buckets?? Yes indeed, a silly summer storm dumping inches of rain and destroying humidity records. I find that the BBQ will not fit into the back of our SUV with the side shelves intact. Did I mention it was raining? I ask the associate if there's any way she can find a screwdriver so we can remove a side shelf, and her reaction was curious. I thought this was going to be another situation where the old stereotype of Home Depot associates dodging customers came true. But guess what? She went in, got a screwdriver off the shelf, grabbed another associate, and they proceeded to take the shelf off the BBQ for me... IN... THE... RAIN... Yes, it happened, I was there! They helped me load it, saved every bolt, and never once complained about the task. I was truly, blown away. I read The Home Depot book written by its founders describing the origins of the home improvement giant several months earlier by coincidence. And as a customer service and marketing aficionado myself, I loved the stories about associates going way out of their way to help customers. But was it all true? The answer is yes, on this occasion it was. It's easy for all of us to bitch about poor service, but this time I'm happy to expound to the contrary. read more
