The negative reviews here are perplexing to me, as I've been a customer for years, and Cascade has always had wonderful service and high-quality products. Today, I got fantastic customer service as I looked through a wide range of their "boneyard" (aka "oops" or returned) paint -- at only $5 per gallon for top-quality paint, the best deal in town. Steve and Matt were very helpful and respectful -- taking lots of time to tell me what colors I'd need to mix to get the color I wanted, explaining the various types of paint, and even giving me a free can of spray paint when the color I wanted was out of stock! Just bought paint there and the guy kept trying to sell me things I didn't need. I knew what I wanted so just sell me that. The paint was expensive and he didn't tell me the price before he started mixing and when I asked to cancel my order he said it was too late. I will not buy paint here again. read more

Hmmm...I am not too sure about these other reviews on here, but I have bought paint here for years, and just like most types of business, if I have ever had an issue with something (I have a couple times, of course), they took care of it just as places that care about customer service should. I have been painting for over 30 years, and when I see some of the other complaints on these reviews, I can read between the lines. Not asking for the price on a custom made (mixed) item before you bought it, and upset because you can't return it???? REALLY??? Buying 20 gallons of a custom mixed "perfect yellow" (translated: impossible to please / picky customer) color /product and NOT doing a color test on your house BEFORE YOU PAINT THE WHOLE HOUSE???? That says it all.... Anyway, I don't have anything against the Big Box / Franchise places, but BUY LOCAL and buy from a place that SPECIALIZES IN PAINT...and yes, they are probably going to be a little more expensive than a box store, but their expertise and service more than makes up for that. If they are trying to sell you other items with your purchase, that means that YOU PROBABLY NEED IT and should take a professionals advice! read more

Why I haven't used Cascade Paint in over 25 years and why I wont be using them for the next 25 years. I was stupid for trusting another. My number one fault, trusting others. I'm a licensed contractor and painting is my favorite part of the job. I literally knocked on the door of a strangers home to get the perfect exterior color scheme of that home. That's how I found the perfect color yellow to paint my home in 1995. That was the last time I used Cascade Paint, until this last week. I have a file on the perfect yellows to use for painting a home. Because I purchased this color from Cascade Paint in 1995, I called them up to see if they still had the same color. I told the man on the phone that I purchased paint there 25 years ago, and that I wanted to duplicate the color "Floral Yellow". The man on the phone said he found an old color deck with that color in it and said he could make the paint for me. I immediately drove down to the store and bought a sample. At this point, I assumed he had the exact formula/recipe being he had a color deck and it was a paint store. The color he made seemed to be close, but there were another few color chips I thought may be a better choice. I should have listened to my gut instinct when I saw the clues inside the store... clue # 1. It's a paint store and has not been painted in years. clue # 2. It's a paint store and the bathroom has never been painted (or cleaned). clue # 3. The owner of the store has a TV behind the counter to watch sports WHILE he is helping customers. clue # 4. Macho atmosphere. With those four clues I should have turned and run to Sherwin Williams where Ken ( the manager) always gives me the best customer service. I suggested to Steve, the store owner, that I thought that the other paint chip I had in hand, was closer to the actual color I remember. I wanted him to make the new color (Lemon chiffon) on my new color chip. He told me to stick with my old color that is tried and true and not to deviate. He convinced me to trust him with those words. "Floral Yellow"(tried & true) is what I wanted for the exterior of my home, so I trusted that he knew he was right, and I ordered 20 gallons of the color. I had no idea he was guessing as to the right formula. He was entirely wrong and so was I for trusting him. My perfect pale yellow for this house color turned into baby poo yellow (according to a friend who stopped by) as we sprayed it on the house. I kept hoping it would dry and turn into my color, but it did not. Such is life. When I called this store owner, he blamed me for the wrong choice and would not take responsibility for his lack of customer service and would not offer any solution. I'm stuck with his color and because of it I'm telling you to never use this particular store for paint or advice. Use Sherwin Williams Paint or Kelley Moore Paint. Walmart Paint gives better customer service and they make me wait forever, but they can match a color to 100%. Matching colors is what painting is all about, imho. I spent nearly a thousand dollars on paint for this house and this man insulted me by watching TV while working on my paint. He had absolutely no care or concern for a happy client. He was more concerned about his ball game on the tv. I do not recommend this store. Women especially should not go into this store unless they want to be treated like second class citizens. Originally, I went in here because they are the only place in Redding that sells Mythic paint which is totally non-toxic. I will never buy paint anywhere else again. Steve who works front counter was awesome and so helpful. I explained I was nervous to pick a color since I have never lived anywhere that didn't have white walls. He took his time and helped me find the exact right color. When I was concerned that the color would be too dark, he said to choose the lighter one and if I didn't like it after painting a small spot, I could bring it back and he would add some tint to make it darker until I was happy. Then he even did an awesome price match for me. Try getting service like that at a big box store. Another thing, he treated me like an equal. As a woman, I occasionally find it difficult to deal with salesmen in places like hardware stores and used car lots. They have a tendency to give me the "You're a girl, so I'll only talk about the vanity mirror in my sales pitch," mentality. Not so here. After talking with Steve, I felt like he had taken me seriously, and I was ready to take on the home improvement project I had previously found a little daunting.
