Thursday afternoon 8-6-26, 2pm, 101 degrees while prepping to leave for vacation on Friday I grabbed a cold water out of our side by side refrigerator in the garage, except it wasn't cold.... The water was Luke warm. Upon inspection the freezer was defrosting, outshine popsicles were literally running down the inside! We called Tom's Appliance repair. The Technician (Brad) told dispatcher he could swing by before end of day and look at our refrigerator. Meanwhile we emptied everything that was salvageable ( flight of the bumblebee) into our coolers to try and save what we could . Brad came less than 2 hours after the first call, troubleshot the refrigerator ( older fridge) actually had the failed part in his vehicle, gave us an estimate and proceeded with the repair. Within 3 hours of our first call, the refrigerator was repaired and blowing ice cold again! I cannot say how much we appreciate the professional treatment by Tom's. Beginning with the first call to the dispatcher who bent over backwards to assist us, to Brad coming and saving our bacon, literally. We have always been happy with Tom's service but, this was OVER THE TOP. We cannot thank the employees of Tom's for the extra effort put forth to help out a customer. We were so impressed by the team at Tom's Appliance. Our freezer was throwing an error code and we were referred to Tom's Appliance for service. Brad came to our home, accessed the problem (compressor fan) and recommended a temporary solution to keep the freezer equipment cool while our replacement part arrived. I had an issue with a washer machine that stopped working at my Shasta lake property.... the tenants wanted me to replace it... but I called Tom's appliance and they were very straightforward!!! The lake of professionalism leaves me astounded. A simple repair has become a nightmare. I was told parts were available and would take about a week to arrive. After numerous futile attempts to get more information on when they would be back, I finally got Tom on the phone and asked why he told me one week, and then it was a month. Tom could be a great business but the lady taking appointments was extremely rude. She said I wouldn't be a good fit to do business with because I didn't feel comfortable giving my credit card information for the service call of 125 a week and a half before the service. I asked if we can pay the technician when he was on site at my property but apparently that's not how they operate. Tom responded quickly to my phone call and was out to my house the next day. His initial estimate to fix the several problems with my refrigerator was $539.98, which I paid him. This amount was about 1/3rd the price of a new refrigerator and Tom said it would be wise to fix it. The very next day a technician arrived and made repairs and gave us advice. At this point I would recommend Tom highly. Next the technician arrived a week or so later and installed the new display etc. all that came next was not so great. Problems with the door seal and ice maker continued with continued icing up. When I told Tom that I was continuing to have problems he had us take out all of the food from our freezer and refrigerator and leave the door open all night. This didn't solve much. Tom then said that we would need to purchase more parts. I asked how much that would cost us and Tom said he would find out and get back to us. He did not do this even after multiple calls and messages left over about a two week period. I was abandoned for sure. My first call to Tom was on 01/10/25. We bought a new refrigerator (which we love) about O4/01/25. We had no use for the old fridge. I left him a message that he could have it if he would come and get it. He again did not respond. Our gas oven wasn't getting up to temperature for baking. According to a separate thermometer, the actual oven temp was 30-40 degrees lower than what we set on the control panel. Brad from Tom's Appliance called on the appointment day and arrived within the service window. After removing his shoes (raining outside), he tested various readings from the oven temperature sensor, burner igniter, and the control board, while asking us several questions about our usage experience when trying to use the oven. All tests were within specification, so he suggested calibrating the temperature and showed us how to do that (I was under the impression calibration required a control thermometer, but evidently ovens can be set to run hotter if needed to match the user-selected baking temperature). He also explained if this didn't produce the results, it would likely require replacing the control board. From my first call to make the appointment, to Brad's visit, I was impressed with their professionalism. It's great we know who to call with any other appliance needs in the future. And, by the way, the next set of cookies cooked perfectly. read more

1. Tom was hired to replace our freezer door on a bran new unit that was damaged on delivery. They did not put the door back correctly creating a new issue having no water. The technician never tested it the repairs to make sure everything was working or did test it and left it broken to be discovered by the customer. When I called and talk with Tom, he thinking he knows what the problem is described it as a rubber tube that just fell out of the refrigerator, a manufacture defect, stating they have not choice but to place rubber piece where the manufacture instructed them to place it and that is why it just fell out out the door. If it just fell down then we should be able to push it back up, but that is not the case because the technical placed to piece in the wrong place. Toms remedy, in a week he offered to come and cut it off! This is a $5000 refrigerator and Tom has no idea what he is doing!! It's not a rubber piece it is a hard plastic piece!! He is willing to ruin a bran new refrigerator!! This guy is a joke and would never have him or his business work on anything of ours again. 2. As an update to quality of work, opened our refrigerator and discovered a screw laying in it. What stands out with my conversation with Tom is the job was a big job. Really confused! I had a dishwasher break a while back & I wanted Tom's appliance to repair it based on the warranty. They mentioned the part would be about 9 months out & that was the last of our correspondence. Recently, I called back & it looks like they blocked my service address & phone #. I'm really confused about what happened - didn't realize there was any bad blood or complication from that warranty replacement. Would love to hop on a call to clear the air & understand what happened. Had a very bazaar experience with this company. Called to get help with freezer issues and was in the process of scheduling with the woman who answered the phone, she gave me an option for Friday morning, I asked her to schedule it. Suddenly she said "I won't be able to schedule you." Upon asking further questions about the sudden change in availability she refused to give me an explanation and attempted to abruptly end the call. I asked her to please explain why she was not able to schedule me at all and why it seemed she didn't want my business. She said "an explanation was not necessary. Maybe you can try someone else." This company does not service Samsung refrigerators, and mine was not making ice. I mentioned I could not get the icemaker drawer out because ice froze it solid, and Samsungs are notorious for this. Well, Tom's said I could fix the problem myself by defrosting completely. I did that, with help from a steemer to speed up the icemaker thaw. I was in the icemaker in 90 minutes and the frig is now up and operating. Didn't cost me anything but next time I need appliance service, I'm calling Tom's. Thanks!! read more

I had bought a microwave from Home Depot and I had called and got my warranty right away because I bought a lot. I bought four pieces for my kitchen two pieces for my laundry room . All of a sudden the microwave wasn't showing the 2nd number when you put on the timer. I called whirlpool warranty they directed me to Tom's appliance service .I called, christine she said I needed to give her the serial number, the model number and I wasn't sure where it was .I called her back an gave her all the info she told me we can't do it because we don't see a warranty for that. I explained I bought it all together. When I 1rst set up my warranty the whirlpool customer service lady said not to worry about it . It's was covered it so I didn't.but only a couple months old I didn't think anything would happen, but it did so I went back-and-forth I called Whirlpool I explained the situation the lady was nice she found it .so I called Christine and I told her I don't want to give you my business. She didn't want to help me as it is, she's rude to me on the phone, so I don't recommend this business. They need to hire someone who has compassion someone who willing to help you which she wasn't. Some companies might be interested in helping you find a solution to your problem before signing you up for a $99 service charge to come out. Not this one. I explicitly told the owner (Tom) that I had pressed a certain button on my dishwasher and then could not get it to work. He offered no suggestions and asked no questions, but signed me up for a service call, saying that it probably wasn't anything major since the machine turned on, but did not progress. The technician was not here more than two minutes before he determined that yes, I had pushed a time-lapse button and there was nothing wrong with the machine - I simply had to push the button repeatedly until it went back to a number that was the beginning. It took the technician longer to write up my bill than it did to determine the problem and nothing further was needed. I would have been happy to pay a nominal fee for the time and gas that it took the technician to come out, but $99 seemed excessive. I did speak to the owner afterwards and he told me I should be happy that there was nothing wrong with the machine! I would definitely not recommend this company. read more

Firstly when I called originally the lady taking appointments was so rude when I explained to her that I was in a pinch with my fridge. Literally the worst. I spent 99 bucks in 5 minutes. The man acts like he knows all eternal knowledge about refrigerators, but has no ability to fix anything same day. Told me my fridge was a throw away then proceeded to hype up his friends in the industry that could "do a miracle for me" in supplying me another fridge ... so gross. Cringe. Eww no. Tom's scammed us. They told us to wait 3 weeks for a part that would come from LG. We waited 4 weeks, called Tom's and were advised that they lost their contract with LG. The man told me someone from LG would be in contact. I called LG and they advised me that Tom's sent in a work order stating the repair had been done and they closed the order. Their address is not correct on any website also. DO NOT TRUST THEM. What company wouldn't even help us like this? To assume we wouldn't even pay to have the work done? I called Tom's to look at an over the range microwave. On the day of the appointment Tom called me and we discussed my situation. He knew what part would be needed to fix it. He looked up how much the part would cost which was far more than I originally paid for the unit. He saved me the money of him coming out for a service call and saved his time too. After I asked he gave me a little advice about what models to avoid and or purchase which I very much appreciated. Horrible experience. Tech came out to repair my refrigerator and when he pulled it from the wall, he left a 34 inch long scratch in my travertine tile floor. My fridge has been repaired three times before this and no one has ever damaged my floor moving the fridge out until now. I asked Tom, the owner to repair my floor. He refused. He says he is not liable because my fridge was damaged. There is a rod in the front that is bent down like a V. I've had no prior knowledge of any damage nor do I ever inspect the under side of my fridge. For all I know his tech could have somehow caused this damage. He claims the previous repair company must have done this damage and THEY should be liable. He says they must have used a hand truck to incorrectly move the truck. Not only has no one used a hand truck or dolly to move the fridge, but wouldn't use of a dolly cause the opposite effect, a rod bent upward, not down? Am I the only person out there with a bent rod? No. They repair appliances. Bottom line: its their job to make sure the appliance can be moved safely without causing damage. I asked Tom to file a claim with his insurance and let them decide if he is liable. He refused. He was extremely rude to me and when I asked him to not charge me for the service he refused and when I told him I would stop pay the check, he is now threatening to report me to the credit bureau. I've now filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau as he has refused to get his insurance involved, and I will be disputing any reports on my credit over this as well. Take your business elsewhere. In response to the business owner's comment on my review: I was not screaming at him on the phone. He was in fact very rude to me, stating "I am right and you are wrong." He will say anything to make himself look like he is not at fault. He keeps trying to blame other companies for this incident without any evidence. Two other companies moved and repaired my fridge without damaging my floor and he is just trying to blame someone else. At one point he told me he called his insurance person to see if they agreed he wasn't liable and he claims they agreed with him. When I asked for their contact information to verify this statement, he refused to provide it. For someone who is so confident they are not liable, he sure is scared to give me his insurance info and turn in a claim. It is the right thing to do. If he is found not at fault, it won't raise his rates. He has no risk turning in a claim unless he is afraid to be found at fault and then raise his rates. So he would rather deny liability and not turn in the claim rather than just do the right thing. And the reason I paid him in the first place was because I assumed he would do the right thing and take care of the damage he caused. I felt it was wrong to withhold payment at that time, until he refused to turn in a claim or address my damage, and then I told him I wanted him to not charge me for the visit. We disagreed on this and I told him I was going to stop pay my check then, as I now had damage to repair because of his company. If it cost him $25 that is on him as I advised him the same day that I was going to place a stop pay. I am still planning to repair my damage and then I will be taking him to small claims court. read more

I wanted to give zero stars but that option is, unfortunately, not available. I called to get my dishwasher repaired, I like to support local businesses whenever I can. I was all set to have them out to see to the broken dishwasher when I asked THE QUESTION! What question? Simply if they can please ensure the technician is wearing a mask and wearing it correctly. Imagine my surprise when the girl I was speaking to asked to put me on hold to check. Then Tom, the owner, came on the line to inform me "they don't wear masks". I began to ask him if he understood there was a worldwide pandemic, I thought about asking him if he cared if his clients might be immune-compromised or in danger of losing their lives to Covid-19. I considered informing him that cases are rising, dramatically, in and around Shasta county. But in the end, I realized that would all be a genuine waste of my time. Tom is exercising his right to be an idiot no matter who it impacts. I'm sure he has done his research (not) and knows his rights (doesn't). Far be it from me to encroach on his Free-Dumb. Just know that memories are long Tom. We usually have our appliances repaired by Carmona's Appliances; however, due to the "Pandemic" and the age of our GE double oven they recommended Tom's Appliance Service. Tom's sent out a serviceman within a couple of days after I contacted them and he arrived on time.... that's about the only positive thing I can say about their service and so-called repair. The young man removed the control panel from the front of the oven, looked it over and put a panel light that was dislodged back in place, read an instruction manual and checked out the circuit breaker... never did he attempt to inspect the oven itself by pulling it out of the wall and check the wiring in back! When asked about pulling the oven, his response was that his meter detected an issue between the breaker box and the oven and that we would have to call an electrician to find the issue. I again asked if the problem could be in the wiring behind the oven and he said it most likely was not. I paid the $89 bill for the "service call", that was less than 30 minutes, and then called Tom's appliance. Don't know if it was the owner I spoke to but he talked to me like I was an idiot! When I complained about the service call, I was told that I can't second guess the servicemen, "They have years of education and experience". I then called Carmona's and informed them if the poor service I received. The next day I called an electrician! He too checked the breaker box and then pulled the oven from the wall... and guess what... we had damaged and fried wires!!! Who would have guessed... ME! The repair was done, the breaker was flipped on and low and behold the my double oven is working (for less than what I was originally charged by Tom's and over an hour of time) but not the light that Tom's serviceman supposedly fixed! Needless to say I am not impress nor would I ever recommend "Tom's Appliance Service"! But I highly recommend Mark Winstead of "ACTION ELECTRIC"!!!! I had a refrigerator that was not cooling. Called Tom's Monday morning and happily he was able to come over to take a look by 11. He explained about the no-clog coils and that they really need to be cleaned. He took care of that and said that if that did not work and that the fridge did not start cooling then A new fridge was next because a compressor was too much to replace. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciated his honesty and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, thus far it has not cooled below 63 degrees. So fridge hunting tomorrow. We called Tom's based on the reviews, Brad came out that day, diagnosed the problem, luckily our compressor was still under warranty, they had to order it, they had great communication and were back out quickly to fix it. So glad I found this appliance repair service. I was able to get an appointment within two days of my call to fix my 17 year old Maytag top-loading washing machine, that keeps going strong. It just needed a replacement pump and belt. The part came in two days and Tom came back to do the repair in time for my Saturday washing. The price was very reasonable. I called with a complaint of my washing machine making a horrible noise. I was able to schedule a service for the following week and the tech was punctual and polite. When he arrived he told me the typical reason for a noisy washing machine is from having something stuck under the machine. He cleaned out bottom of our washing machine then ten minutes after his arrival proceeded to charge the $89 service fee. I was pleased it wasn't a bigger issue but I also would have appreciated knowing that is the most common reason for a noisy machine prior to getting a service scheduled. If the front desk would have told me that then I would be one happy customer that would have saved their number for future appliance needs. I will be looking for a different appliance repair next time I need a service. read more
