Thanks to a P.G&E. power burst, my Starlink system was destroyed which then disabled our cell phones. Dealing with Starlink support was very ineffective. We drove to Advanced Concepts and talked with Jim. Besides being a nice guy, he knew exactly what had to be done. All of our generation 2 Starlink system had to be replaced with generation 3. He received nothing from us but our sincere thanks, but when a technology issue raises its ugly head in the future, we will head to see Jim. Another great day working with Advanced Concepts! My desktop fried its screen and my monitor went to a permanent dark place. So I considered buying a new computer on the internet from Costco. After 2.5 hours of trying to do that on-line and realizing support is a big issue I put on my thinking cap. That was lucky. So I went to Advanced Concepts and that day they built me a custom computer with exactly what I wanted and NONE of what I didn't want. At home, I plugged everything in, turned on the power and BOOM--up and running. My new computer was not nearly as expensive as it might have been at Best Buy or Costco. And it wasn't one of those laptops that hunch you over for the rest of your life--posture at your workstation being all important. I was visiting Redding (my sis) so I knew nothing about local stores. Her laptop had issues (I currently work in IT) and I needed to fix them. One of the issues was it needed a BIOS battery. But it was the end of the day on Friday, and it looked bad. Because the couple of places I have visited, did not have it, and one place just did not wanted to help. I went to Advanced Concepts and wow! Nice people. I know I only asked them for a very small thing. But sometimes you can see a person character by a very small thing. You know, how he can be sweet to you for a 3 thousand dollar laptop he is trying to sell, but would not talk to you when you need a one dollar part, because it is just all work and no profit for him? Not the Advanced Concepts. They initially told me nope, they are all out and don't have this special battery for me (it is not like on desktops, just a coin battery, on laptops it has to be soldered to a connector). So, I have already walked out of the store when a service department employee run out of the building and stopped me on the street. They have found one last battery, and they did not want me to fail my repair mission. Ok? That is some nice people. It is a cheap, invisible part, end of the day, Friday. Who cares. Some stranger in the shop. Right? These guys cared enough to run out and stop me. This only does good for me. This does nothing for them. This is why I like this store. I have been doing business with Advanced Concepts for more that 16 years. I have had numerous problems with other computer repair stores, only to have the same problems after they worked on my unit. Advanced Concepts is my number one go to store and they fix the problem the first time. I had AC build my last computer, all I had to do was tell them what l wanted. They do excellent work and fix your problem the first time. They are not cheap, but they fix the it right the first time. Best in Shasta on my opinion. read more

Brought my laptop in to get a new screen. They said it would cost $150 just to take it apart to see if it was fixable. I was confident it was. They called and said it wasn't fixable, and changed the $150 for checking it out. After paying for it, I took it to someone else who fixed it perfectly for $100. Now it works great. Low memory laptops are horrible to use. I purchased an HP laptop from Best Buy in June or July of 2019. I was concerned that it only had 4 gigs of ram. I paid around $200.00 for it as I usually like to use my iPad but I need the Windows for some other things. For the first few months, it ran "ok" but as time went on it got to run very slow. If I opened too many programs the unit would slow down to a crawl. If I left it on and if it went into sleep mode, I wasn't able to wake it up. I got to the point to where I wanted to take a baseball bat to it and put it out of its miserable existence. I went over to Advanced Concepts and spoke with Jim. I wanted an inexpensive solution to my problem. He sold me a nice used desktop that had 8 gigs of memory. He explained to me that the "new" laptops are sometimes sold with very old computer chips. This desktop is extremely fast and it turned out to be the perfect solution. Sometimes it is better to wait and pay a little more than to buy a cheap computer that doesn't work as intended. And I'm not the only one. I did a search on these laptops and the slowness of them is quite evident. A local company with a professional feel. I had heard a lot good things about Advanced Concepts around town, so I decided to take my computer in there when it had it's latest issue. When I went in, I was treated professionally and promptly. It's hard to find good customer service these days, but they were very attentive right away. I was happy with how quickly they figured out my issue. You could tell that they only hire people who know what they're doing. I know a lot of people in this town go to Geek Squad, but I have never liked them. It seems like everything they do is $200 and somehow miraculously ends in the suggestion for a new computer. My fairly new Dell computer locked up due to Bitlocker. I was frantic thinking my computer had been taken hostage by a virus. After many futile attempts to take back control of my computer, I called Advanced Concepts and spoke with Matthew who took the time to explain that Bitlocker is a security program designed to protect my data but that it sometimes gets activated and ends up blocking the user. Matthew explained that to unlock the system I would need to find my "Bitlocker Security Code" and reviewed the process with me. As luck would have it I did locate the security code and unlocked the system! Matthew suggested that some users disable Bitlocker so that it does not happen again, which I did. I cannot thank Matthew and Advanced Concepts enough for walking me through the process of unlocking my computer. I offered to pay for Matthew's time on the phone with me but he refused.
