My computer (iMac) died. It was working wounded for a few months and obviously nearing the end the last couple of weeks. Once I was able to determine the cause wasn't COVID but maybe some other virus I transported the carcass into Shasta Computer Repair but with little hope for resurrection. Daniel was able to diagnose the issue(s), apply life support and a transfusion and my computer was able to come home after only a weekend in hospice. I rarely leave reviews, however, on this occasion I feel obligated to help others avoid the horrendous experience we had with this company. We brought my sons gaming computer in to have a cooling fan replaced. They took it apart "diagnosed" the computer, verified that yes my teenage son was correct it did need a cooling fan and then put it on a shelf. We called for updates weekly and kept getting excuses. First they ordered the wrong part, then they were short staffed, they were on vacation in Florida, etc... after 9 weeks I came in to pick up the computer - it was STILL not fixed! They gave it back to me completely dismantled (and missing a bracket) I took the computer to Best Buy Geek Squad and they had the computer fixed in 9 days and 5 of those days we were waiting for the part. Additionally, because the computer was completely taken apart and had to be put back together it cost us MORE, but it was over $160 less that the estimated cost Shasta Computer gave originally. Finally, they mentioned that they were opening a new store and offered to give me a voucher - like we would EVER support their business in the future...ABSOLUTELY NOT! Long story short, I had an issue with a replaced phone from my carriers insurance that ended up being defective. This repair shop is an hour away from where I live, and the closest one to me. After the insurance made the appointment for me (and telling me I couldn't just walk in to the store, they had to meet me somewhere) the owner called me to let me know that the insurance company screwed up, that if I still wanted me to meet them at the set location it would have to wait...however I COULD come into the shop at the same time and have it repaired there. INCREDIBLY accommodating. INCREDIBLY kind staff, AMAZINGLY fast service. They did fantastic, and they eased a lot of stress over this issue that the insurance company just....fucked with. Anyway. We took my daughter's laptop in for repair after a failed attempt at home repair. Initially a hinge broke off the "lid". We cracked the screen trying to put it all back together. Brought in the laptop on a Friday. Called back 5 or 6 days later and was told the part would be ordered and installed the day it came in. I called back about a week after that and was assured the part came in, and the laptop would be good to go the next day. Indeed, it was done before noon the next day! It took longer than expected overall, which was a difficult for my distance learner, but as soon as that screen came in, they expedited the repair! read more

SCR seemed like a helpful and professional group. However, they could not fix my Acer Switch cracked screen because they could not find the part. While I understand the difficulty, I was a little annoyed that it cost me the $50 upfront diagnosis fee to find that they could not locate the part. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. They had my only business computer for over a week. The last two times I tried to call them for an update, they never answered the phone. Their voice mail wouldn't take a message. I had to drive in to their office to find out what was going on. I finally got it back after many delays and excuses. They had ended up replacing my hard drive with a ss drive. It ran extremely slow and though they told me they had saved all my data, my QuickBooks data was missing. Total bill was $197.20. After that, one of my clients referred me to their computer doctor. He made a couple house calls, found that the hard drive that SCR had replaced had not fried like they told me, and was able to recover my QB data. He did say the old hard drive was old and not efficient, so I ended up buying a gently used and not very old computer. I have all my programs, all my data, running at speed, and I'm back in business. read more

The first impression upon walking into this business was wow, this is different. It was not at all what i expected. Very nice, a reception person was seated and it seemed more like a doctor's office. The person took my information and then told me the charge to diagnose my laptop would be $49. That's correct only 49. And this would be applied to whatever service was needed. This place excudes professional and competent service. A couple days later Luke gave me a call to tell me about my laptop. Unfortunately the hard drive was beyond repair. I stopped by and spoke to Luke who explained the problems. No gobbledygook technical terms. Luke took his time to explain. Everyone working was well dressed and very professional. Long story, slightly summed up. Verizon iPhone broken. Used Asurion insurance to get phone repaired. Asurion contracts Shasta Computer Repair for the work. (This part is unknown to me.) It's a two week wait. We were told the repair would happen at our house on November 24 between 3-5. Received an email on November 23 from Asurion confirming the appointment. At 4:30 on November 24 we access the voicemail on the broken phone by using the phone number of the contact phone. Shasta Computer repair left a message ON THE BROKEN PHONE on November 22 asking us to bring the phone to them instead of them coming to us. Next message on November 24 from Benjamin at SCR (calling the broken phone instead of the contact phone) telling us he can come early. I call SCR back at 4:40 and no answer. I call Asurion and they tell me that SCR told them that they were on there way to us when they had an emergency and couldn't make the appointment. I try to make a second appointment and I'm told that the soonest available appointment is December 8. Unreliable company. read more

Our computer was stollen from their site, supposedly from a break in. When we went to see a possible replacement the attendant was extremely rude. First commenting about how he expected us at an earlier time (we had just spent 2 hours at our bank safe guarding our banking information due to the theft), and he had a short temper when we were asking him questions in reference to the replacement computer. We didn't expect to be treated as if we had done something wrong as we were the victims. The owner of the store should have personally worked with us. The computer they offered to replace our 15 inch MacBook Pro was a lower grade and smaller in size. Our only option was to accept the $300, as he kept insisting that this is the only amount their insurance would pay. read more

Great customer service. I was in town, my 2012 mid year MAC Laptop Pro decided to not charge. I figured it was the 85w charger. It was. I know this because they put theirs on it and yep, charger issue. This was done in back, out of sight. They really could have claimed it needed this or that etc. and I wouldn't have had a choice, but to believe them. They don't sell the 85w charger (it is an older charger, so I wouldn't expect that they would). They told me where to go, hooked my computer up to power in the meanwhile and did all this knowing this isn't going to result in a big ticket sale. I was able to get a charger at Best Buy and swing back and pick up the laptop in a couple hours. I think it says a lot about a company that is focused on great customer service even if it isn't going to make them money that day. I wasn't even a previous client. Don't make the big mistake This is a computer repair not "PHONE". My insurance sent me to them they fixed my cracked screen on my note 10+ but left behind a film over my face facing camera. Camara does not work and they did not want to be responsible. They claim that something might had gone loose inside my phone on my way home. Lol. Besides all side seams were lightly open. Very dishonest technicians. I brought my older laptop in for repair because it had been dropped and was not currently recognizing the hard drive. I was aware it was older but I still wanted it repaired if at all possible. The technician called me and told me that my computer was damaged beyond repair had broken parts inside as well as many stripped out screw holes. (it had one that I was previously aware of. I was told the hard drive was definitely damaged and when I asked if I could just replace the had drive then, I was told no, the computer itself was too damaged from when it was dropped and the insides were broken where stuff was held in place. I was told they were unsure if the hard drive itself could be asked to transfer my data. I purchased a second computer and it turns out they were able to successfully transfer all of my data. When I went in to pick up the old and new computer, just for the heck of it in their office I decided to see if my old computer would work. I plugged it in and it recognized the hard drive perfectly. I was shocked as the technician had told me it was not possible. I showed the manager and she did not know how. She said she would call me on Monday after looking into it. When I got home I tried to use my old computer but they mouse did not work. I looked at the computer and found that like 5 or 6 screws that held the back on were missing. I went ahead and opened my computer. When I lifted the computer I noticed that the tab that connected the mouse was not properly in its slot. I pushed it in and my computer worked with no issues other than a hard drive error (same error it had for two years) On Monday the manager had a migraine when we spoke and needed more time. to look into things for a resolution. She said the technicians notes did not match what I was telling her . I waited for her call which never came. On Friday afternoon I called her and she asked if she could call me back in 10 minutes. When she finally did she was rather rude and made me feel like I was lying about what had occurred. She basically told me that even though my computer worked because of what she saw in her technicians notes they would never have been able to guarantee how long it would have stayed working which explains why I was told I needed a new one. No, just no. Brought my phone here for a warranty covered screen repair and the whole deal was super shady. They rescheduled the online appointment I made with Asurion, twice and then they did not even complete the repair. They said the part was defective and put my broken screen back on....to too it off there is now something wrong with my speaker or microphone. My ohone has an echo. So when I called Asurion to reshcedule they could not understand me. Be warned there is something weird going on here with warranty phone repairs. read more

Brought my iPhone in to have the screen replaced. This phone is only 5 months old. After about 20 minutes they brought it back and said they couldn't do it because the screws were stripped. The phone has never been out of the protective case since I purchased it. Pretty sure they stripped the screws by not using the proper tools. read more

I could not log into my Dell desktop. Contacted best buy geek squad, they told it would cost 150 to 200 to reset my password. I remembered Shasta Computer repair when I was looking for repairs to my IPhone, I went in and talked to dustin and mike. The diagnostic was 49.00 that would go toward repairs. 1hr 1/2 later I went to the office mike had reset my password and cleaned up 3 different anti virus programs that were running in the background. the total repair was 135.00.
