I have been a loyal customer of this Duluth Best Buy since the day it opened on Burning Tree Road in 1990, purchasing almost all of my technology here for 36 years. This store has a long-standing history of deceptive behavior. A while back, I bought a $1,500 phone here. I explicitly told them I wanted my reward points and did NOT want the extended interest-free plan. The employee clicked the wrong option anyway, cheating me out of all my points. The proof is right in my payment history--I paid the bill in full the second it arrived, proving I didn't want their plan. Yet, the manager refused to fix it and just said 'it's too late now.' Most recently, I fell victim to credit card fraud, causing my automated membership renewal to fail. Corporate explicitly sent me an email promising that if I renewed my membership, all of my existing devices would be fully reinstated. The phone agents took my money, processed the charge, and the second the payment cleared, they completely went back on their word and refused to reinstate my devices. This is a classic, deceptive bait-and-switch. On top of everything else, their public page falsely claims they offer a military discount. I have asked multiple times and been denied every single time. They lied to a lifelong customer and a veteran just to lock in a fee, and they do NOT honor or support our military here. I am disputing the charge with my bank for services not rendered, and I will never set foot in a Best Buy ever again. Take your business to Costco or directly to the manufacturers where loyalty and military service are actually respected. read more

Do not try getting your iPhone repaired at Geek Squad / Best Buy in Duluth. They don't actually do same-day repairs and don't honor the appointments you schedule online. They cancelled my appt minutes before my scheduled time. Then they told me they couldn't do a same-day iPhone battery exchange because they need 3-5 hours. They also wouldn't honor their commitment to even having my phone ready the following day by noon if I left it overnight (and 3+ hours before their closing time). I was told "We have 12 computers ahead of you." So making an appt really is pointless. They also couldn't commit to the price listed on their website. I even have the Best Buy Total Plan ($199/year) and they gave me no greater customer service than anyone else. They even had the audacity to offer scheduling me another appt on another day (but couldn't guarantee they could honor the appt when the time came.) What a waste of time and money! I would give 0 stars if I could. My fridge went out and we used it as an excuse to upgrade instead of getting it repaired. Went here the same day to pick up a new one. They had an open box on the floor that was the floor model. It was within our budget and we were told that there was nothing wrong with it and got a discount for taking it home same day. Got it loaded up, got help unloading it and spent the time hooking it up. Everything looks good, but no air is circulating. Waited for a few hours and checked again. Yup, compressor isn't kicking on. Got sold a broken fridge. Went in the next morning to explain the situation. Guy told me there was a couple options. I could return it, we can get someone out there to look at it, or we can exchange it for an inbox on. I didn't want to have to repair an already "brand new" fridge so I asked for the new one. That had to go through corporate and was told I'd get a call later that day to set it up Corporate calls. I explained the situation and the lady seemed like she could care less. Told me we couldn't exchange it and the best she could do is give a discount on a new one. That discount ended up being almost 1200 more than what we already paid. She informed me that they get open boxes and items in boxes that don't work all the time. Then why the hell are you selling broken items?? We still wanted the fridge, so I took the repair option. Their system wouldn't allow them to schedule a tech to come out. Ticket raised to escalate the situation so we can get someone out. Should hear something back by end of the day and she would give me a call. No call happens. Day 3, no call from corporate best buy. Finally, I call them and ask for an update. Lady I was working with was out today. Explained the situation again to a new lady. I asked if I needed to go to the store to get scheduled. Lady says that they would see the same thing in their system. New lady raises a ticket to escalate. Day 4, no call again from corporate best buy. I call them again and talk to a guy. He informs me that I have to go to the store to talk to someone to get a repair scheduled as handing open boxes is tricky and they don't typically do it. Informs me I have a 1 year warranty and I am covered. Creates another ticket and escalates it. Says I should hear back in 24 to 48 hours. Out of curiosity, I went to the store. Talked to a new person in the appliance area. Guy informed me that the reason why they can schedule is because they don't have a technician to service the fridge. I ask to see a manager as I am livid now. Guy was pretty helpful and apologetic for all intensive purposes. He calls the manager. Manager doesn't show up and instead says offer a $200 credit off a new fridge. Absolutely insane. I've been without a fridge for 4 days now. I've been bounced around between the store and corporate getting different answers and excuses. I've wasted my time, money, and patience trying to get this stuff figured out. The manager didn't even speak to me and the "solution" was insulting. Don't sell things if you cannot verify they are working. Poor customer service all around. read more

Hire people in the cell phone area that are trained in cell phones. They entered information wrong and my cell phone was not hooked up completely. I had to go to Verizon and have them enter transfer pins correctly and enter zip codes correctly. It was about a 6 hour process and it's still not completed. Don't buy a phone at Best Buy! read more

Had an install on my car here, it was not a great experience by any measure. Work was done in a normal amount of time and when I went to pickup my car however, the issue was noticed when I got home. Living 2.5 hours from the store in normal weather, this has happened in deep winter weather with snow, lots of snow. I got home and went to get into my house (lived in middle of nowhere) and my house keys were missing off my keychain. Not a situation you want in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere and it is well below freezing. I had to break into my house which took a bit, and called the store the next morning. The fellow who answered was the same guy who was working the day prior and was rather aggressive in his response. I had inquired in a way that wasn't accusatory "maybe when the key fob was put on the keyring the house key was accidentally slid off and not noticed" and he snapped back "I NEVER PUT THE FOB ON THE KEYCHAIN AND LEAVE IT FOR THE OWNER TO DO". I had to let him know, the fob was put on the keychain prior to giving me the keys...." to which he got quiet for a moment and then got a little more upset. He said he had no keys laying around and I have to be mistaken. Had to let him know, I had no house key and had to break in, not many keys on the keychain and the only house key is the one missing. I was told, both joking I can do for you, bye. I had a rather strange feeling about this and have heard horror stories about stereo shops with shady people. I then replaced my doorknobs and got new keys, again, living in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors, would have been too easy to swing by my place and get a new TV or whatever so, I spent the money and got new locks. Wouldn't have anything installed here again, this just didn't sit right with me. Could have been an accident, sure. The persons response just set off too many flags for me. read more

Just purchased a washer and drier. The washer is damaged and Best Buy won't do an exchange unless I take it all the way back to them. The washer in question to be replaced might not be in stock and they won't order a replacement for me to exchange at the Best Buy I got it from. Stating "since it's an online order" they can't even promise to hold the exact same item that they have in stock to be picked up on a Saturday. They suck!!! I'll be returning both the washer and dryer for full refunds and trying someplace else!!! read more

Well as soon as i explained my situation they were super accommodating and were able to get it in 2 days later! Took my 1 month old computer in due to having hard drive issue. Geek squad said it would take a few days. That was 2 weeks ago and they informed me it was done. When I arrived they handed me my laptop and it had a cracked screen and the tray for CDs was broken. They proclaim they had to send it off and happened in transit so I need to pay even though it is under warranty. The young worker said they were sorry but it will need to be sent off again. I said no but they refused to give the computer back. I threatened to call the cops before they handed it back. I want to speak to a manager but got a cold shoulder. Will never return. read more

My husband and I went to Best Buy to order a fridge, range and microwave above range. It was a nightmare. One week later and we are still waiting to get the stove put in its slot (it is just sitting between an island and cabinets) because the idiots installed the microwave and left it sloping down. Keep thinking it is going to fall out. The new fridge apparently has a kink in a water line so another new fridge has to be ordered so that the ice maker works and the water dispenser in fridge works. Then Best Buy sends back the 2 idiots that installed the microwave to fix it. We did not let them back in the house and asked for another team to come. We were suppose to have someone here early this morning to fix microwave and install stove in the slot.....but now this appt has been changed to sometime this afternoon. I called this store and asked to speak to someone in the Samsung cell phone department.The woman who answered had to check but said yes we have your stylus in stock.I asked if she could reserve it for me as it's a 90 mile drive there.She said she can't.So I arrived and 2 women in the samsung dept.told me they don't have it in stock.I mentioned my phone call I had made 2 hours earlier that it was in stock.They then said when you call the store your not talking to a person in this store butsomeone at a call in center.I returned to my car and called again and was directed to a man that said he'd check and put me on hold and never returned and I got transfered back to the beginning as if I just called.The next person said she would check into what happened today after I told her everything I went thru today trying to make this purchase and that she would call me back.I got home and checked online and sure enough it's available online and placed the order.The last person I talked to did actually call back about 6 hours later and I told her I placed the order online for home delivery.She then wanted me to talk to her supervisor about the good service I got! So frustrating! Horrible, horrible customer service. I purchased a printer, and the salesperson told me it came with ink, so I didn't need to buy any and that I could connect it to my computer with a cable, as I have spotty internet. When I got home, there was no ink and the printer he sold me has no port for the cable that he sold me. I called for help and of course, a robot answered. The robot was useless. When I finally got a person, the person told me that he was sitting in his living room 3000 miles away and that the only way I could ask any questions of the sales person or anyone at the store was, "to get in your car, drive 10 miles back and tell them your problems. It's not that hard." We have bad roads and it's night and I should have been sold the right thing and told the right thing in the first place. Do not waste your time if you want to trust what you are being told, because once you purchase, you are treated like crap. That's my advice. read more

After I checked out upon review, they made an unauthorized charge of $50 without my knowledge or consent. I bought a Frigidaire refrigerator from Best Buy and per the repair person that came out to fix it (not thru Best Buy) it had a freon leak which he stated are hard to find. Repair man was out 5 times to try and find the leak and suggested I call Frigidaire to get the refrigerator replaced as Frigidaire wanted to have him cut the pipes and soder them back together. Frigidaire would only give me a 6 month additional warranty (after wanting to tear it apart) and would not replace my 6 month old refrigerator. I called and talked to Lance at Best Buy and we were able to work it out and I was able to get my refrigerator replaced thru Best Buy even though the warranty was still through Frigidaire and they are the ones who should have replaced my refrigerator. I looked at the reviews for Frigidaire products and the reviews were horrible. Stay away from their products. Thank you Lance and Best Buy. I will shop again at Best Buy. read more

This store is so frustrating, my husband and I purchased a 70" television, the individual helping us with that purchase was excellent but during that purchase my husband mentioned the fact that we needed to order a television power cord because we lost one during our recent move. The individual helping us offered to order at that time so we said go ahead. We received the cord in the mail but in the meantime we found the original power cord so a couple weeks later we went in to purchase something and wanted to return the cord at that time. It was in the original unopened package with the receipt and the "Best Buy" drama begins! We were treated like we were 5 year olds and scolded for requesting a return outside of their 14 day window. We were lectured on the rules and told that "corporate" was really cracking down but they would do us this huge favor by allowing us to return it just this time, THEN the Manager comes over to approve the delinquent return and puts us through the entire lecture/scold session once again. I literally had to walk away as my husband is much more tolerant of such rude and condescending behavior than myself. It's all fine to purchase at this store if you can tolerate the warrant pressure at the checkout but heaven help you if you need to return anything or have any other issues with your purchase. They make everything so difficult, my advice is to shop Amazon (its typically cheaper and you pay no shipping and no tax) as local stores like this make it much too painful to shop local!!! read more
