Trying to buy a new oven from Best Buy has been the WORST customer experience of my life. This is a long review but you should read before buying anything from Best Buy.
Even though I made my decision about what to buy in about 10 minutes, I was in the store for 90 minutes making the purchase as I waited for the sales rep to work his way through the computer system. The delivery guys never showed up on the scheduled day, and also never called to let us know. My wife took a day off from work and they never showed up or called. We rescheduled for the next week, but when the oven arrived, it had a big dent in the side. They also installed a new hood over the oven, but the fan on that didn't work. When I called the Best Buy store to work this out, I discovered they don't receive calls at the store. EVERY call goes through the national number! That means there is ZERO accountability. What do the people in the store care about what happened to my order? They will never have to hear about it or worry about making anything right.
When I called Best Buy the next day to have both these products replaced, I was told the oven I had just bought was no longer being made and couldn't be replaced. A new oven in the same price range couldn't be delivered for another month (at least). As I was trying to work this out, I got cut off after having been on the phone with three different people for 60 minutes.
I called a local independent appliance store and purchased a comparable oven at a comparable price in about 10 minutes, and it could be delivered within a few days.
I called Best Buy back to cancel my order, spent another 30 minutes on the phone with them working out the details, and was told I would have to pay for the installation of the defective and damaged products because "they were successfully installed." Another 20 minute call the next day finally got me a full refund. The oven and hood were scheduled to be removed from my kitchen the following Monday, between 7am and 1 pm. I scheduled to have my new oven delivered and installed at 3pm.
That Monday morning at 11am, I received a call from an appliance store in New Jersey (I'm in CT). Apparently Best Buy contracted with them to remove my damaged oven and defective hood. The call was to tell me they couldn't remove them until the next day. I will obviously never have to do business with an appliance store in NJ, so again, there is no accountability for Best Buy. I now had to be available that Tuesday for the removal of the stove, and the following day to have my new stove delivered.
This whole thing has been a mess. Best Buy has literally gotten everything wrong on this, from beginning to end. Nothing has gone right, there's been no accountability, and the worst thing is, NO ONE FROM BEST BUY CARES!!! When I called to cancel my original order, not one person I spoke with apologized, tried to change my mind, or asked me what they could do to make this right. It is obvious that as a customer, my measly $1200 order means nothing to Best Buy.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself a great deal of time and frustration. DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY! Call one of the independent appliance stores in Connecticut. They are still out there, and when you call an actual human being answers the phone. Even if it costs a few dollars more (and it may not), it will be worth it in terms of the service you will receive. read more
