Very helpful staff. Knowledgeable and honest. I bought a tv from them and they did everything they could to help. The price was fair and service was speedy. This particular branch is far better than most Best Buy's I have gone into. read more

After having to go to the Coralville Best Buy to buy a new computer after being ignored in Cedar Rapids while all the staff was playing on their phones. So the sales staff gets zero stars. I returned to Cedar Rapids and had the Geek Squad do the data transfer from the old computer to the new computer. The gentleman that checked me in said he could do the data transfer in 24 hours. Like clock work they contacted me almost 24 hours to the minute the transfer was complete. The Geek Squad in Cedar Rapids, super efficient & professional. So, the Geek Squad gets 5 stars. read more

I'm not sure if I've ever been in a business with more employees doing less work. Much more flirting than working among the employees. How does this place stay in business with such little inventory, so few customers and so many employees not working? read more

Ordered a refrigerator on the Samsung app and scheduled to deliver to my home. Bestbuy canceled the delivery SIX times with six different excuses. It is astounding that this place is still in business. I eventually gave up and canceled the order. If you have any other option, take it. We relocated to C.R. almost one year ago. We purchased a very expensive television from them, prior to our move, and they assured us they would "take good care of us" once we got to Iowa. Numerous trips in person, and three letters to corporate, and NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. The Geek Squad hung our TV crooked, messed up our surround sound, set up our Wii with "one touch" access that worked ONE time. The speakers are thrift store quality and they replaced our perfectly good sub-woofer and would not take the one they brought back. WRETCHED customer service. One year later and crickets from corporate. What happened to excellent customer service? All we want is for Best Buy to make this right. ANY response would have been appreciated. Pathetic. We would have purchased elsewhere had we known. Can someone help? read more

Bought a television on the 17 of August and had it scheduled for delivery today August 31st. between 2:30 and 6:30 pm. I received emails from Best Buy confirming such. So no emails, phone calls, or text messages today whatsoever to confirm my television is on the way to my address. Wow! Best Buy Cedar Rapids, you can do much, much better. I am seriously considering going to their store tomorrow and telling them to cancel my order and refund my card. May even go so far as to never make another purchase from them, ever. I'm extremely disappointed in Best Buy. read more

Went in asking for help returning a Dish cable box. All pages on Google shows to drop them at Best Buy. Entered store and a very poorly dressed man in a shirt untucked and wore out blue jeans met me at the door. Seemed as though I wasn't spending money he in no way cared about assisting. I showed him google saying to drop them at Best buy. He snapped and said he could give a shit less what AI said. And walked away. This is Best Buys customer service. He said he was the Assistant Manager. I would throw my money in garbage can before ever going in any Best Buy. read more

I went in to the store and walked to the 4K tv's. I was looking at the TVs and I looked around and there was no one in the area. A girl walked to the desk, she looked at me and immediately looked down and stayed there. I proceeded to walk around the TVs and then after 10 minutes or so I started to leave. As I was leaving I noticed an associate walking and I realized one of us needs to stop or we will collide. I stopped and he just glared at me as he passed by, it made me chuckle. I guess I'll be buying my TV from Amazon during Black Friday or something. read more

Best Buy Cedar Rapids - Appliances Near Me - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

In 2023, we purchased a clothes washer/dryer and a freezer. We were told by the manager of the store, that if we applied for a VISA Best Buy credit card, put the purchase on that card and paid it off, we would get points back equal to about 10% of the total cost. We fell for it and, of course, it all turned out to be a lie....by the store manager. Must have needed to fill some quota and decided that lying to the store's customers was a way for him to get well. Needless to say, we will not be shopping there again. read more

BEST BUY BEWARE! THEY DON'T CARE! I WILL CONTINUE TO POST THIS REVIEW ON EVERY PLATFORM POSSIBLE UNTIL THEY CORRECT THE ISSUE OR THEY MEET ME IN COURT! I Purchased $5000.00 worth of appliances around March 1 2024. Today is Sept 25 2024. The Insignia refrigerator we purchased started making the most annoying screeching sound every 15 mins or so within 6 months. It has a 1 year warranty and says if unable to be repaired, will replace with same or equal value unit. The Cedar Rapids store where it was purchased refused to do anything about it. They sent a technician out to repair it and they say the sound is NORMAL? I've owned several and been around 1000's of refrigerators at family and friends in my 50+ yrs of life and have not heard of 1 other refrigerator that makes this noise. The staff and manager don't care and would not even listen to the video I took of this annoying sound. I even said I'd be willing to pay for an upgrade. All I got was sorry, there is nothing we can do. It's apparent that Best Buy only cares about getting your money. They will never get another dime from me, and I will continue to spread the news of how poor their customer service is and the lack of concern about their faulty products under warranty. And this review platform won't let me upload a video of the noise. Only pictures. Horrible experience. I'd give negative stars if they offered it. They haven't heard the last of me. They don't want you to post videos, but you can find my video on other review platforms. Nobody should be told this sound is normal and just live with it. read more

Poorly ran. Everyone is confused. Huddled and chatting about nothing. Everything is locked up. Stealing is rampant. The main issue is all the employees when seeing if something is in stock is pulling up their cell phones and going to the website. So you're basically watching them search the Internet to see if they even have the product. This place is definitely falling apart more and more. read more

This is not specific to this particular Best Buy, but about their return/exchange policy in general. We purchased a television as a Christmas present on December 12 and gave it as a gift on December 27. It was first used on December 28. On January 11, the picture on the television stopped working...sound but no picture. When contacted about exchanging the set for the same model, Best Buy said their return policy is 15 days. It didn't matter that it hadn't even been out of the box or that it was defective. Disappointing. read more

This is about my Best Buy experiences over 1 year ago. I dont think much has changed. I Was 'enthusiastically' sold a new Lenovo (IBM they said) laptop computer and an Epson Series 446 air printer. Oi vay!!! Also ' enthusiastically' bought a geek squad year and a virus protection service. Lots of products, lots of promises... for this senior... lots of nothing!!! Where shall I start? The computer is so over sensitive that just keeping it from jumping all over at the slightest brush of a hand, a breath... even, is next to impossible. I barely turn it on. And Windows 10??? Why do they have to make a system over with so many unneeded complicated so-called upgrades???? I was fine with my Dell laptop and older Windows. I understood it ,I used it often and could also use its programs. I only scrapped it because it crashed after a dozen years and so I had to get this new monster. At Best Buy, I chose an older woman as my salesperson thinking she would be more honest and sell me ,also an older woman , something I could understand. Hah!!! Was I wrong. Now for the Epson 446 series air printer. What a piece of crap! Simple copying one page uses an enormous amount of outrageously expensive ink. And until you realize all the settings are set to just Blk & White, they make sure your one Magenta or Yellow cartridge runs out so (although you only ever print in b & w) that makes the darn thing useless until you are forced to buy more color cartridges. Now I have post-it's all over to remind myself to be careful to set it all to b & w. And the air printing????? Some weeks ago, I spent 4.5 hrs on the phone w Microsoft and 1.5 with Epson. I eventually was told to get my wifi looked at. To this day, I cannot use the air printing ! And Geek Squad???? When I needed the help, there was the pandemic and by the time Best Buy allowed them to perhaps visit , wouldn't you know it, my year was up, my virus protection was up and for only another $300-400 I could resign. So now, I went online for a virus protection service with a responsive customer service Dept something Best Buy should think about utilizing... that is ' customer service! If I need to print from my phone, I hate the Lenovo laptop, I go to my local UPS for real help with real people. I will never, ever go back to Best Buy for anything ever!!!!! I am so over fast-talking , actually uninformed, only out for the "sale" salespersons. Can I give minus stars???? read more

I brought my computer for a check up and to find out ways to increase the speed. I wanted just a "tune up" and maybe new hard drive. I was accosted immediately with talk of a "membership". I Politely explained I do not want a membership, just my computer fixed. So after round 2 of explanations of what will be done, they said the cost is the cost of a "membership" and the hard drive, which I thought was fine... UNTIL they said the "membership" has an AUTORENEW policy. I politely explained I NEVER NEVER NEVER agree to an auto-renew because I know it is impossible to cancel an auto-renew. I explained I do not want a membership, I just want my computer fixed. The kids said they cannot work on my computer without the membership and autorenew. I politely, one alst time, requested they simply fix my computer without demanding me to pay for a membership, they said they cannot. YOU MUST JOIN THE MEMEBERSHIP AND THE AUTORENEW, there is not other options. This means you have to pay them $199 a year for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!! NO way. I grabbed my computer and walked out. Unless you want to pay them $199 per year for life, do not go to Geek Squad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I must say when I was a teenager I thought best buy was the most amazing place ever. Until I was about 17 and they f'd up my computer. Then again when I was 20 after they formed the geek squad and.... They f'd up my computer again lol. I should have learned my lesson. I then bought a $400 4 year protection plan and my tv broke in 2 years and they tried to replace it with a little piece of junk! They have a lot of inventory but I think that they have quantity over quality. You can get better prices at other stores and I would hate to say it...online. After checking on Best Buy's website for a home stereo component, I dialed their phone number to see what they had in stock. I spent the first minute or so listening to the standard, canned corporate greetings and "press 1 for this, press 2 for that" schlock. Finally, someone answered--just long enough to put me on hold. Then I waited for ten minutes to actually get a living human being with a pulse. And that didn't happen. Even worse, as I waited for the answer to my question (remember--the answer that never came,) I scrolled through their website to find that although they have listed what I wanted, it takes at least a week or two to actually GET said product. No way! Not in this day and age. Amazon does it faster and with superior customer service. read more

Really poor customer service today. I was trying to buy a new MacBook Pro-close to a $2,000 purchase- and the service was extremely poor. I needed to sign up for a Best Buy credit card but the associate rushed me through it, so I ended up answering some questions wrong and was denied the card. Luckily my mom was able to get one, but the associate was trying to help two other customers at the same time & lied to us that he had someone who would be coming to help us. He then got me the wrong laptop because he didn't realize it came in both space gray and silver-thank god I caught the error. He then almost forgot to give us our receipt. Honestly I would think twice about ever coming back to this location for my electronic needs, these guys are pretty clueless here. read more

Big box store, lots of stuff at ok prices. Yeah, its got that. Under no circumstances wear a blue shirt to this place. Staff is so scarce on the floor that you will end up getting asked for help by people needing help from, oh I don't know, perhaps people who actually work there. Don't expect anything close to decent technical information on computers, TVs, or camera/camcorders. Do your research before you go. I was ignored and walk past several times never received help walked out of the store Amazon here I come Best Buy don't be surprise when you're out of business. Your geek squad knows nothing. Your customer support or customer care is the worst out of every Best Buy I've ever been to and it's a shame that the competition is so low in Cedar Rapids that there's no real reason for you to improve but it is an embarrassment to the franchise and will inevitably lead to its downfall. read more

Nintendo switch my daughter received for Xmas 2018 stopped charging August of 2019. Called and spoke with geek squad, geek squad confirmed my daughter's gma purchased an extended warranty and we could simply walk in to customer service and swap out the item. After arriving to customer service that was NOT the case. We were told that isn't the policy and it would be sent in and then we would find out in 2 weeks if it was repairable or not. I stated we were told that we could get a new one same day, manager was involved, he allowed us to swap the item. Of course they were out of consoles and it would have to be ordered, no problem. My fiancé informed the customer service associated he would be the one picking up the item. Called customer service, item was there, verified that it was ok for my fiancé to pick the Nintendo switch up. No problem. Fiancé goes to pick up item since I am sick at home (hyperemesis gravadium) And they refuse to give him the item Bc his ID does not match then name on the account (which is my mother) even though we were the ones who dropped off the console, received tracking number confirmation via text and email. I call and speak with customer service via, phone rude as all hell. Tells me that's the policy., is this a joke? He really thinks someone broke into my email and text messages with the tracking number?!? We were allowed to drop off the item and process the new one, but we aren't allowed to pick it up? He was really going to make my mother, who lives 45 mins away show her presence to get my daughter's Nintendo switch? After bitching him out and getting the previous associates involved, my fiancé was allowed the Nintendo switch. Now I understand why the reviews are so damn low for Best Buy. A bunch of morons working in this store. Best Buy is next on the chopping block for a closure. Never will do business ever again. Have purchased 5 TVs, front load washer/dryer set and endless other items. This is how you treat loyal customers, count me out. read more

Bait and Switch? I'm in the market for home appliances for my new home. I wasn't even considering Best Buy for my purchase but when I was there for another item I started to look at what they had. The sales associate was friendly and helpful and it was nice to know they aren't commissioned based and pushy sales people. Even though they price match, I was surprised to find what I was looking for (same model numbers as I was looking elsewhere) for a cheaper price! When I came back the next day to purchase, they looked up the items and informed me that they might not be available and suggested other items (higher price). I told them that I didn't want a different item and I was happy with the models that I've already chosen since I've done the research and was happy with those. They then tried to order and said they were out of stock and since its the end of the model year they wouldn't get any more in. They then tried to show me other models (higher priced) again and I told them again no thanks. That's when I heard the sales associate mention to the other worker that they checked the inventory previously and knew it wasn't in stock! Why would a company display an appliance, have the best price around and then not be able to fulfill the order? They wanted to get you sucked in and then sell you something more expensive! I ended up going next door to Sears to make the exact same purchase (they also price match) and they had everything I needed in stock with a delivery date I needed. read more

I purchased 2 Samsung Galaxy 4s and a IPhone 5s... Spent over 500 dollars in the store. The Best Buy representative advised that I get a better insurance for my phones instead of Sprint. He informed me that my phone would be replaced if lost, stolen, or dropped. I specifically asked if it would be replaced with a brand new phone or refurbished one (since I had a similar experience with Sprint a month ago). He said it would be a brand new phone. So I said it would be well worth it (after my almost $500+ dollar purchase). I purchased the Geek Squad insurance for three phones paying 30 dollars a month for the past year and a half. Last week my Daughter cracked her screen. I took into Best Buy to have it checked out and replaced. They informed me the geek squad had changed the policy and I would have to pay $150.00 to replace the phone and put a $250.00 hold on my bank account while waiting for a refurbished phone to be sent to my house. I told them I did not know about their change in policy and it wasn't the policy I signed. So he waved the $150.00 but said I still need to hold $250.00. Once again I explained that I didn't sign that contract and I was unaware to the policy would replace it with a refurbished phone, what happened to the policy I sighed that would give me a replacement phone with a new phone? It seems like the Geek Squad representatives were very familiar with these complaints and did not seem to care whether they gave quality customer service or not. I really do hope there is a class action lawsuit against Best Buy. I am extremely disappointed with their service and policies. read more
