I cannot say enough great things about this True Value. It has a very local feel where you get to chat about various things in the store but without pressure. And without the impersonal nature of somewhere like Home Depor or Lowes. They have fewer items due to its smaller size but they're always incredibly helpful in finding you the right product if they don't have it in store. And I'd like to support locally operated stores rather than national chains. The only con would be that they feel slightly understaffed right now but who isn't? They like to focus on their time with each customer. Truly I cannot recommend this business enough from the management to the staff. read more

Tried to take in a screen to be repaired and was told they are not taking any because they are so far behind. Told me to check in a week or so. I asked why don't you take it now while I'm here because I'm not in a hurry. Nope. Ticked me off because the women was sitting doing crossword puzzle when I walked in and didn't say a word. I waited at the back counter for several minutes and no one came. Walked back to the crossword puzzle lady and that's when she told me they won't take it now. True Value is my favorite hardware chain even though there isn't as many around anymore. You can save a lot of dough by shopping their advertised specials, especially the value of the month. I don't particularly like the layout of this store. The checkouts are oddly placed, closed off from the rest of the store so you have to be walking out the door to see the checkers. Not good for customer service. Otherwise the help is very friendly and knowledgeable - just what you expect from a neighborhood hardware store. read more

I took a storm window in to have the glass replaced. The employees stated they could have it fixed that day. Due to time issues on my part, it was decided that I would pick it up that weekend. When arriving to pick it up a young employee found it and nothing had been done to the window. When I questioned it he asked my who had helped me. When I describe the man he then told me he was an old employee and I shouldn't trust his word. Really? So you're saying I am not to trust any employee that works at your business. I am beside myself and I don't think I will ever step foot in this store again... or refer anyone. read more

Love the convenience but the over priced merchandise and the sometimes rude and unhelpful service is driving me away.

This store has a hometown feel where the employees are always friendly and helpful. I walk in and they offer to help me find what I'm looking for and there seems to always be someone working who's knowledgeable and can answer my questions - every time. I also like it that many of their employees have worked as contractors or in construction and are very good at advising me and explaining how to do things. Someone said that you pay more, which is true of Menards or Wal-Mart, but you're paying for people who know what they're doing. Try going to Menards or Wal-Mart and getting this kind of service. I figure it is worth it to pay a little bit more here or there to get this level of service and experience. I'm not wandering the store for who knows how long at Menards or Wal-Mart looking for something - plus these guys have save me a HUGE amount of time advising me on home projects and are really down-to-earth, good people! read more

Great old fashion Hometown hardware store. I have shopped here for years and am so appreciative they stay around. The checkout is located the way it is due to that on store layout. This way they don't have to guard the door for shoplifters. Anyone leaving the store would walk by the cashier facing them. What a clever idea. Love the personal service. They have several people employed that know what they are doing and can advise you professionally unlike the big box stores. It is a locally owned business and supports the community. read more
