THE place in Cedar Rapids to get your major appliances. Locally owned, brothers Craig & Steve took…read moreover a successful business from their parents and made it even more so. Most people would be surprised to learn that this little downtown shop is Whirlpool's top dealer in the state. Their prices are as good or better than any of the chains and you get to deal directly with the owners. Home Appliance sells Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Bosch and few other brands. They service and stock parts (in-house) for everything they sell. Here's the cool part: if you're even a little bit handy, when the time comes to have your appliance repaired Craig or Steve will diagnose your problem, tell you exactly how to fix it yourself and sell you all the parts to do it. They are the Click and Clack of the appliance industry right here in river city! I've saved hundreds over the years in repair costs. The last time I had a repair question at Sears, they gave me a 900-number to call for service support at a the rate of $4/minute. Never again, I pledged! That was over 12 years ago. I've taken my business here ever since and have never been disappointed.

I do my shopping investigation before hand. I don't get the cheapest nor, the most expensive. The dryer I got a whiles back (last year) worked about great, and of course how things work out, my washer crapped out...on sunday.. Going there today to get a new washer. If they got the right price, I be coming home with a washer from there. ps.. I got a Refrig from them like 3yrs or was it 5 yrs back still running... I got a bigger frig then what we had... did all the measurements and got one to fit and it was a very very tight fit... but all is good. When all is done and said, these appliances (from anywhere) only have a certain life span. Trying to get good help nowadays for a thankless job. The store owner is a business man and is fair. His margin for problems aren't like a big store I'm sure any complaints about his help you read here were followed up on. Sometimes workers have bad days and/or lie to bosses and sometimes customers can be unreasonable. Be fair to the owner and he will be fair to you....That is what I have found anyways....

We bought a GE profile built in microwave and discovered that it did not have the mute feature…read more This was a feature I loved with my prior microwave. The manager said that we would have to pay a 30% restocking fee to return it because it was a custom order! They had it in their warehouse already and we didn't even know it was considered a custom order. Very disappointed. We were also told that the other GE microwaves that would fit in our space also no longer had the mute feature.

We bought a whole kitchens worth of appliances and they were willing to deal a bit to get us what we wanted within our budget. Our sales experience was 5 stars - no question. We also had them deliver and install our stuff. They did a great job on keeping our house unscathed (no scratches, marks) when doing the install. They did forget to bring the kickplate for our dish washer. We made a call and made a trip to pick one up from them (no charge). If the kick plate was there at install time, 5 stars all around but giving 4 over all for this small mistake (what can I say, I'm picky). We will be buying our appliances from these guys going forward. Edit: Not sure why it says I'm in San Francisco, probably due to google account. I'm in Cedar Rapids IA.

Is there anything more adult than buying a refrigerator?…read more I mean. The measuring, review reading, feature finding, finish deciding, price checking and delivery scheduling. Not to mention emptying the old to then fill the new. Appliance shopping is exhausting! While I wanted to shop more local than Home Depot. My kitchen had other thoughts. It had to be single door, had to be a certain size... and the only feature that was a MUST was a water dispenser. (Which with a single door fridge is hard to find.) Alas, Home Depot had it. The stainless steel fridge of my dreams... errr... or rather my kitchen's dreams. Popped online. Snagged it in my cart. Scheduled the first possible day they could deliver. (A week later.) Added that they would be taking my old hunk of junk fridge away with them. (An additional $25.) Added that they would be needing to get the water hooked up to the fridge.-- cause nobody's got time for that. (An additional $25.) Popped in my credit card info. Painless. Then the day before the delivery, I got a text telling me a window of when it would be delivered. (2-6pm. Which, let me point out that is about eight hours less of a timeframe then what my local cable company gives me when my internet is acting up.) I got email updates as they approached. I got a call when they were one stop away. Two fellas in masks came during the 2-6pm window. They had to take my front door off to get the fridge in, but man-- they were speedy! They gave me tips on cleaning it. Told me how to get the water and ice going. Put my front door back on. Took my old fridge away. BOOM. In and out in about 20 minutes. This was a painless adulting excursion, thanks Home Depot!
