I am a satisfied customer. As one who does things themselves (I do my own installation). I think the machines are satisfactory and for a reasonable price. I do my shopping investigation before hand. I don't get the cheapest nor, the most expensive. The dryer I got a whiles back (last year) worked about great, and of course how things work out, my washer crapped out...on sunday.. Going there today to get a new washer. If they got the right price, I be coming home with a washer from there. ps.. I got a Refrig from them like 3yrs or was it 5 yrs back still running... I got a bigger frig then what we had... did all the measurements and got one to fit and it was a very very tight fit... but all is good. When all is done and said, these appliances (from anywhere) only have a certain life span. Trying to get good help nowadays for a thankless job. The store owner is a business man and is fair. His margin for problems aren't like a big store I'm sure any complaints about his help you read here were followed up on. Sometimes workers have bad days and/or lie to bosses and sometimes customers can be unreasonable. Be fair to the owner and he will be fair to you....That is what I have found anyways.... read more

Would not stand behind the work Star had done before the sale. I will not shop here again.

We bought a GE profile built in microwave and discovered that it did not have the mute feature. This was a feature I loved with my prior microwave. The manager said that we would have to pay a 30% restocking fee to return it because it was a custom order! They had it in their warehouse already and we didn't even know it was considered a custom order. Very disappointed. We were also told that the other GE microwaves that would fit in our space also no longer had the mute feature. read more

Mr K showed up on time and was neatly dresses and was very respectful of my home. Mr K has installed a wall mount TV and on another occasion he fixed my dishwasher. I feel that for the quality of work that was done they were reasonable. read more

We ordered a refrigerator from Star appliance and when the delivery crew brought it they noticed right away that we should have ordered a counter depth. (Our mistake not theirs) They were so gracious to take the fridge right back and the store worked with us to get the correct size. Their Custmer service was outstanding. We heard about Star Appliance from a friend. Although they sell the Top Quality of the GE lines, they are thoughtful and listen to their customer. We bought a recommended Consumer Reports GE model range and refrigerator. We drove all the way from Oskaloosa to do business with these great folks and recommend them. read more

We recently purchased a GE slide-in smooth top convection range from Star Appliance and have been very impressed with them. When we first started looking in their shop, they didn't try to "up sell" us to a higher priced range with more things on it than we wanted or needed. The pricing was very fair, comparable to a "Big Box" store, and it was so nice to buy from a locally owned business. Delivery was on time and done by the owner and his son, who did a very careful job of removing our old stove and moving it into our garage, since we had sold it to someone else. They brought the new one in and installation went seamlessly, followed by a quick lesson on operating it. We would definitely recommend checking out and buying from Star Appliance. They are good people to do business with and it's always good to shop local! read more

Nice store, good products. I have bought a refridgerator and dryer here. I got a fridge with ice and water in the door and had to have water line run to it. They hooked it up ok, but hooked up the HOT water instead of the cold. :/ My husband ended up fixing it. Most of the staff are great to work with ( with a few exceptions as anywhere nowadays). I went to Star to work with a local small business. I ended up getting screwed... I went in on a Saturday and picked out the appliances. On Monday we filled out the paperwork and they charged my credit card. On Tuesday, i got a call saying they no longer wanted to do the deal becuase they weren't making ENOUGH profit. Person was rude and hung up on my when i asked them to explain why they were doing this to us. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We are renters and I will admit that the part of the blame is on the property manager not understanding what he was buying. But this business has no clear return policy and should take back the dishwasher for a full refund. The Property Manager called Star Appliance and asked for the cheapest dishwasher for a HOME. Star Appliances ordered and installed a APARTMENT size dishwasher that does not even fill the standard 24 inch space. On the Star Appliance website it says people come to them for expert advice and service. When I questioned them on why they would sell and install a dishwasher that didn't fit I was told by the owner that they never try to up-sell or advise their customers. I asked for them to take back the one week old dishwasher and we would pay the difference for a larger one and install fee again but I would not pay the 25% restock fee. When I talk to the owner he acted like because I was a renter I didn't matter. I told him I will tell people how I was treated in his store and at that point I was told to leave or he would call the police. I want Star Appliance to come and get the dishwasher and refund the full amount paid for the appliance. They can keep the install amount. read more

Horrible store! Owner has some serious problems.Yells at customers. We bought the extended warranty and had a horrible time getting them to come out and fix the problem. Finally just called a repairman on our own. Hoses were hooked up wrong! Appears to be a common problem. Still waiting on them to come out and properly hook up another appliance. Have finally given up and hired it done by another vendor. WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM STAR APPLIANCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! read more

We bought a washer and dryer from Star Appliance and had them installed 4/25/16. I've never given anyone a bad review online before, but the delivery and installation was horrible. I actually called my husband at work within 10 mins of their arrival and just said, "please get home as fast as possible." After bashing and banging on the bi-fold doors for a couple of mins, he didn't remove them before the installation. When I asked if he planned to take them off, Aaron the installer literally yelled in my face that someone didn't put the pin in correctly and it wasn't worth his trouble to take it off. (It is and was fine). When they detached the old washer hose they slung water all down the hall, and even across the ceiling - drops of brown dirty water trailing in a line along the ceiling. They re-used the old dryer vent and didn't hook it up tightly since it was a different size. My husband pointed out it wasn't connected and only then they put on the new hose that actually came with the dryer. Had he not been home, we'd have had dryer lint leaking all over the place. They didn't have the tools they needed, and had to ask my husband to get them a wrench. They completely flooded the closet with the washer disconnect, and only after I pointed out all the standing water in fear that he was planning to leave it, the guy said he needed a towel and headed for my guest bathroom. Thankfully I stopped him and got a rag towel because when I got it back (actually when I found it in a soggy puddle in the hardwood floor after they left) it was completely black and stained. There's more, but you get the picture. At the end they had the nerve to hand me a clipboard asking me to sign that "everything was fine, and they were very careful with the installation". I said I couldn't sign that and the guy said, "well, there's usually a checklist on the second page for you to go through each thing, but we forgot it, so you have to sign this page". I didn't. They then tried to get me to pay an additional $40 for parts. We'd already paid for everything and had a receipt, but they weren't going to leave without the money. At that point I tried to call the store. After giving the whole story to the person who answered the phone, I was told that I have to speak to Pat, our salesperson, who wasn't in and would call me tomorrow. I've since called back twice asking to speak to Pat and he's always going to be in and will give me a call tomorrow. I think we're done with Star Appliance. I'm hoping the appliances are fine, because based on our current experience, customer service is worthless. And we won't be shopping there ever again. My wife and I have had a few dealings with Star; we have bought new and used here, and have had service call as well. The products are great, but that alone is not what sets them apart. We purchased a new refrigerator for a rental property and the price was as good as anyone in the area. It's nice to buy from a locally owned business, and the prices here are certainly not a deterrant. We also purchased a used washer and dryer for our home. (I know...new appliances for a rental and used for us.:)) The delivery was next day and VERY reasonably priced when you consider they bring it in, hook it up, and remove the old appliances. The service call we had was for a refrigerator we already owned that was periodically acting up. Barry immediately knew what the problem was. They got the part the very next day and installed it. He also checked for other potential problems. It's working like new now. We can't say enough good things about Star Appliance, and we will definitely continue to do business with them.
